In Harmony with God
In Harmony with God
What is the cause of evil in the world? Most people believe in God and that He created the world. But Is it His fault that the world is such an evil place? Blaming God is easier that blaming ourselves, but the truth is that it's not God's fault. He is perfect and He intended for human beings and the world to be perfect. But He does not force us to believe in Him or act according to His will. When we choose not to be in harmony with God, then we are likely to cause evil in the world.
No one can avoid problems caused by evil. Most people just do the best they can and hope for a better life. But then what do they have to look forward to? Many reach their worldly goals and manage to stay reasonably healthy, but they can't stop the aging process. Neither can they solve all the problems associated with this life.
Most people want their lives to be better, and they want the world to be a better place to live. But many believe in solutions that will not improve life, at least not for very long. Most believe that increased wealth would solve their problems, but many times this only causes an increase in problems.
Many are convinced that science will save us. The truth, however, is that even though scientists are making technological progess, people cannot be forced to obey certain moral laws. And because of technology, we are constantly being bombarded with subliminal messages. These messages imply that it's alright not to believe in God, and to lie, commit adultery, and to murder, and many live their lives accordingly.
Now the world is full of people who believe they are justified in their evil ways. Most of them don't believe in God, or they don't care. They lie and cheat others as a way of survival. They have random sex without caring about the consequences such as diseases or unwanted pregnancy. Many children are aborted, or born without nurturing parents and are abused. Many people become psychotic and go on shooting sprees, killing innocent victims.
The truth is that we need God. Without Him we are weak and headed for destruction. And anyone who either doesn't believe in God or believes in a false god does not have real hope for eternal life in a perfect world. We should believe in God and be in harmony with Him if we want to someday live eternally in a new perfect world.
God creates life; therefore, we must be in harmony with God if we want to live eternally. We die because of our sins, and because we are not in harmony with Him. Even though we all die, we can live again if God forgives us for our sins. Does that mean we will not be punished for our sins? Death is the punishment for our sins, and resurrection to eternal life is the reward for following God's plan for our salvation.
How do we get in harmony with God? The first thing, of course, is to realize that God is real. Even though we can't see Him, He is revealed through all forms of life, and through the structure of the universe. Secondly, we must realize that the world is in a chaotic state because most people are not in harmony with God. Finally, we must find out about God through the Bible; there we can also find out about the Ten Commandments that are God's moral laws for us to follow.
What are the Ten Commandments, and why should we follow them? These are found in the Bible and are described as follows:
God spoke all these words, "I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage."
(The Ten Commandments)
(1) "You shall have no other gods before Me."
(2) "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven, or on earth, or in the water. You shall not bow down to those idols or worship them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sins of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me. But showing love and mercy to thousands who love me and keep my commandments."
(3) "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who takes His name in vain."
(4) "Remember to keep the Sabbath day holy. For six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your servants, nor your animals, nor the stranger within your gates.
"For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them; and He rested on the seventh day. Therefore, the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."
(5) "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you."
(6) "You shall not murder."
(7) "You shall not commit adultery."
(8) "You shall not steal."
(9) "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor."
(10) "Your shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor's house, his wife, his servants, or his animals."
(From The Bible, The Book of Exodus, Chapter 20, Verses 1 through 17)
Imagine how the world would be if everyone followed these Ten Commandments. People wouldn't about their property being stolen. They wouldn't worry about their spouses cheating on them. Crime would virtually disappear and the world would be a great place to live. Wars would cease and the world would be at peace.
Will the world ever be perfect? Of course, we know that everyone is not suddenly going to start following God's commandments. In fact, many feel that if they did, they would have a hard time surviving in the world. But if you are in harmony with God, He will help you through hard times. Someone once said, "If you want to get to Heaven, you have to go through Hell." Someday this world will be destroyed, and God will create a new world. For now, this world is a testing ground; we need God to help us get through it, and make it to the new world.
But even if we follow God's commandments, we still have a sinful nature, and need God's forgiveness for our sins. Our sinful nature separates us from Him; this causes us to be morally weak and more likely to sin. We become caught up in worldly desires that lead to our destruction. We need to overcome our sinful nature and get back to God if we want to live eternally.
How can we reconcile with God, and be forgiven for our sins? We are God's creation and He loves us very much. But He is the source of life, so if we choose not to be in harmony with Him, then we must eventually die. God is perfect, so if we want to be perfect, we must choose to be in harmony with Him. Even though we do have a sinful nature and have all sinned, we can be reconciled with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus received the punishment for our sins when He was crucifed. When we believe in Jesus as our savior, God forgives us for our sins.
Someday Jesus will return. Christians are those who believe in Jesus as their savior. For now, they must be patient. They should do the best they can and follow the Ten Commandments. That doesn't mean that they won't have problems. In fact, many problems Christians have are caused by Satan and his demons; these forces of evil are out to tempt humans into giving up. World problems will only get worse, but Christians have hope that Jesus will return soon and take them to Heaven.
When Christians are in harmony with God, they can overcome their sinful nature. Besides believing that Jesus is their savior, they know that He will strengthen them, and help them overcome worldly temptations and problems. And God's spirit will work within them to guide them in their new life. They will still be imperfect and may eventually die, but when Jesus returns they will be resurrected and become perfect. Then they will be with God and His Son, Jesus, and have eternal life in a new, perfect world.
In summary, many people blame God for the evil in the world. But God is perfect; we cause evil when we choose not to act according to His will. The whole world is negatively affected by the problems caused by evil. We need God and we should be in harmony with Him if we want to be perfect someday and live in a perfect world.
God creates life; you must be in harmony with God if you want to live eternally. Even though you die, you can live again if God forgives you for your sins. Death is the punishment for your sins, but if you are in harmony with God, you will be resurrected to eternal life.
The world is in a chaotic state because most people are not in harmony with God. God gave us the Ten Commandments to follow and, if we did, the world would be a much better place to live. But most people are not going to follow the Ten Commandments and someday the world will be destroyed. For now, this world is a testing ground; and you need God's help to get through it.
Even if you follow the Ten Commandments, you still have a sinful nature, and are separated from God. This can cause you to get caught up in worldly desires that lead to your destruction. You need to overcome your sinful nature and you need God's forgiveness for your sins. Then you can be reconciled with Him; you can do this through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus received the punishment for your sins when He was crucified. If you believe in Jesus as your savior, God will forgive you for your sins and you will be saved. Even though you die, God will resurrect you; then you will have eternal life.

If you live in harmony with God, you can overcome your sinful nature. You will still be imperfect and may die someday, but your sins will be forgiven. When Jesus returns, you will be resurrected and become perfect. Then you will be with God and His Son, Jesus, and live forever in a new, perfect world.
From the Bible:
I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me.
(Philippians, Chapter 4, Verse 13)
