In our humanity ... Are we even able to process this great God of ours.

Updated on June 17, 2017

Understanding God? Is that possible?

The human condition is exactly that.... a condition. Not to mention that it is 100 percent human in an imperfect human word. It is one that all of us suffer from. Each and every one of us. It is a condition that we can hardly help. It becomes a huge part of our humanity. How can we ever really understand this incredible God of ours. Can we even contemplate the magnitude of our Lord. Perhaps we are not even supposed to try. Can you relate to our awesome God? We are completely human and it becomes our greatest downfall. We really are not like Him at all. Not even a little bit. It needs to humble us greatly. We should be filled with humility. God indeed provides for us constantly whether we are able to process that becomes a whole other enigma. Can we really think like God thinks? Can we even put our selfish selves aside for a moment to realize that all is for the greater good and all is for His glory. Look at the ultimate sacrifice that He provides through Jesus and yet we cannot get past ourselves. We cannot even get out of our own way. So in our humanity are we even able to process our great God? It should be easy but it is anything but easy. It says in the Bible that our ways are not His ways. Nor are our thoughts His thoughts. Huge understatement as we are not even close. Sometimes we can be so far from Him. Processing our Lord is quite a challenge. Do we understand Him? Probably for the most part we cannot and do not. It does not mean necessarily that we are bad people just human ones. God gives and gives and I think we still do not really get it. Try for a moment to contemplate the goodness of God. Think about what He did for us and then think about what He does for us every single day. Most of the time all we do is take the multitude of blessings He bestows on us completely for granted. How often do we thank Him? How often do we pray to Him? Certainly not often enough. We seem to try to put everything and everyone in our human realm. The problem is that will not work when we consider a divine God who knows us better than we know ourselves. His love is so great that for all of us it is completely overwhelming. It is agape love. Perhaps even attempting to understand our great God is quite futile. People will always try to put Him in a human box and make Him convenient for their own lifestyle and fit into their way of thinking. Once again that will not work. He is never going to fit in our box. He is God and we are not. He is way too big to fit in our box. As a humble servant to our God we need to receive His love and be steadfastly thankful for it but do not try to understand Him from a human perspective. Simply stated He is great and we are anything but great. He is holy and we are not. Here are some Bible verses about the greatness of God:

Psalm 145:3 Great is The Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.

Jeremiah 10:6 Inasmuch as there is none like You, O Lord, You are great and Your name is great in might.

Psalm 47:7 For God is the king of all the earth; sing praises with understanding.

Psalm 96:4 For The Lord is great and greatly to be praised.

God bless always.
