It expresses human virtue that is based on compassion, affection, and kindness.
People often crave a better understanding of the world and religion seeks to answer our questions. It also makes the purpose to give life greater meaning which is needed when it comes to love.

If the couple have different religions, each parties respects both religion and resolves it through an agreement like a bridge that connects two unconnected people together in their lifetime.

However, despite their profound moral value, both love and religion have been used as an excuse for justifying immoral deeds, as in the example of religious wars, personal atrocities, murdering the beloved in the name of love.
