Introduction to Witchcraft Part II - Belief
Introduction to Witchcraft Part II - Beliefs:
Of course, after an introduction, there MUST come something else, correct? Part II will be based mainly on beliefs in Witchcraft.
First of all, I want to talk about Reincarnation. For someone who doesn't believe in it, it is difficult to understand the death of a child. What was the point of the child living at all, if for only a short time? For those who do believe, it is obvious that the child has learned all that had been set to be learned in that particular lifetime and so was moving on. A very good simile for this is the grades at a school. You begin at Grade K, and continue until you graduate. From there, you may take a break before continuing, depending on life's commands, or you may choose to continue right away, with only short "vacations" in between. Occasionally, remembrance of a past life occurs, but more generally, you do not remember them. Perhaps one of the most common of occult experiences is that of "deja-vu"- the feeling that something has happened before- often attributed to reincarnation. The feeling being a brief flash of memory of something that happened in a previous life.
Why, then is birth such a joyous occasion, and death so sad? From my standing, Death is just a process of life, as life is a process of death. Why do humans mourn, then? I understand mourning, but death, to me, is a progression to the higher powers of everything. It brings us closer to whatever it is we are aiming for... Death isn't something we should fear, nor feel sorrow for. We shouldn't live our lives preparing for death, as it is inevitable anyway. Live life the best way you know how, and that means KEEP your mind wide open, and KEEP learning as much as possible, ABOUT as much as possible... Eventually, it will serve you well.
Speaking of life and death, you have probably all heard the saying "You'll get yours back in return Three Fold..." Right? Well, if not, I will tell you where it derived from:
It's Karma... Karma is usually thought of as a "reward-and-punishment" system stretching throughout all lifetimes: If you do evil in one life you will have to pay for it in the next. However, it seems that there is always talk of "karmic debts" and "karmic punishments" but seldom of "karmic rewards". The Witchcraft view seems to make more sense.
There is a Wiccan belief in retribution within each life. In other words, rather than being rewarded and punished after death, for what you have done in life (the traditional Christian view), Witches believe you get your rewards and punishments during this lifetime, according to how you live it. Do good, and good will come back to you, but do evil and evil will return. More than that though, it is a three-fold retribution. Obviously, that does not mean that if you kick someone in the leg, that you will get kicked back, but three times harder... It just may happen that a few weeks, or months down the road, you may break your leg on "accident"...
In the Witchcraft belief, one lifetime's experiences are not dependent on the previous one's. Just because you chose this lifetime, and you are to undergo the set experiences does not mean that you can just sit back and say "Everything is preordained. I'm just along for the ride." The God and Goddess will make sure that you do get all the particular experiences but your job is to progress; to strive your hardest towards perfection. YOU CREATE YOUR OWN REALITY.Whatever you want you can achieve. But always remember the Wiccan Rede: "An' it harm none, do what thou wilt.".
Time Spent Between Lives:
The length of time spent between lives may vary, depending on your study of the lessons learned and their integration with previous lessons; also on the necessary preparation for the next "semester". While between lives, you may choose to help some other spirit here on earth. (Guardian Angels, and Spirit Guide) This means that a spirit is always watching over a less developed spirit. Since time does not exist in the in-between times, as it is a human-made concept, for the sake of reference only, then to watch over an earth-bound spirit for it's whole earthly lifetime would not actually hinder the watcher's progress, but add to it, in the sense of gaining experience. Witches believe, from psychic experiences, etc., it seems that many times, couples will stay together in many lifetimes, only in different relationships. (e.g. lovers; husband-wife; brother-sister; mother-daughter...) I guess you could call these spirits "Soul Mates".
Soul Mates are souls that stick together, so-to-speak. However, it doesn't mean "The only one for you"... You may have manysoul mates. Or you may only have one or two... (It is possible to reach a past life through "hypno-regression" to bring them once more to the surface.) This could give you hints or clues, or even exactly who has followed you, or who you have followed from your past lives.
I hope all readers of my hubs are open-minded, and understanding in my ways. I am merely just trying to help "educate" those who are "uneducated" in the topics I have learned about so far in MY lifetime. I am not, by all means, completely educated myself, as I believe we never STOP learning. Learning comes with experience, and experience comes from curiosity. I guess it all depends on what you are curious about, and what means the most to you at this moment of this life...
Until my next hub, I hope all of my readers are being properly entertained and properly educated in MY belief of the Craft...
