Irrevocably Free In Christ
'I AM the Light of the world"
In my years spent in the world serving the lusts of my own flesh I knew nothing of respect or reverence for anyone or anything. Certainly I knew nothing about reverence for, and obedience to, the One Who created you and I in His own image. Created us for fellowship with Him. He created us in love and for love. I only knew OF God. I didn't yet "know" Him.
After time I began to learn that we are created for love of God first, then for the love of one another. Even for the love of our own selves, but not in the narcissistic way that so many of us do. A healthy kind of self-love. Which is why what we addicts do to ourselves is so profoundly wrong in it's very nature of it's self destructiveness. Speaking for my own self what I did so blindly for all those years was truly inherently unjustifiable because of the very fact that I have already mentioned of our being created in the image of God Himself. Our very bodies are His temples-that was the way it was meant to be at any rate.
The reasons He hates sin so much, is not because He just wants to be a killjoy or a party killer. It's because of His great love for us. It's because of what sin does TO us, to all of mankind, that He has so warned us over and over again of the seriousness of committing it against Him.
But you see how far that got off the ground from the get go. There's always a fly in every ointment and the devil is the poisonous one in ours. Eve couldn't even make it through the one temptation she faced in the Garden of Eden. Finding herself incapable of saying no to the Adversary of God, she instead made excuses to do as Satan suggested as he in the guise of the serpentine Tempter twisted the words of God in the memory of her mind. So much so that she began to doubt what she thought she had heard God say as the three of them had walked and talked together in the cool air of the Garden the previous afternoon.
Did God REALLY say she and Adam could eat of any tree in the Garden except for the Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil? Did God REALLY say to them that if they did eat of it, that in the day that they did eat of it, they would surely die? (And so they did at that moment begin to die---they just couldn't see as yet the ravages that sin would begin to take).
The devil had an answer for Eve's queries--he always does. He told Eve that God just didn't want them to be like Him knowing Good and evil--therein becoming like God Himself. Appealing to pride-( Satan's own downfall ) appealing to the senses-(sensory and visual appetites)-he had her in the palm of his hand. Then she passed it off on to Adam as she offered him some of the pleasant looking and appealing fruit. Although he didn't have the excuse of being tricked by the devil--he was nonetheless an active participant in the original sin and fall of man that we all suffer from the consequences of today. Sin is a trap-sin can turn into a prison with invisible walls.
Ironic thing about that situation though? They passed the buck to one another just as soon as they were caught in their rebellion / sin against God. Even then when there were only two human beings? None wanted to take responsibility for their own actions. Here, I will share these first consequences of Adam and Eves original sin that has passed to all of us from God's Word:
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden at the time of the evening breeze, and they hid themselves from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. So the LORD God called out to the man and said to him, "Where are you?"
And he said, "I heard You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid." Then He asked, "Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from the tree that I had commanded you not to eat from?" Then the man replied, "The woman You gave to be with me—she gave me [some fruit] from the tree, and I ate." ( Now is it me, or does it sound like to you too that Adam may have been trying to place a little bit of the blame on God by saying: "The woman that YOU gave to be with me.")
So the LORD God asked the woman, "What is this you have done?" And the woman said, "It was the serpent. He deceived me, and I ate."
Then the LORD God said to the serpent: Because you have done this, you are cursed more than any livestock and more than any wild animal. You will move on your belly and eat dust all the days of your life. I will put hostility between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed.
He will strike your head and you will strike his heel.
He said to the woman: I will intensify your labor pains; you will bear children in anguish. Your desire will be for your husband, yet he will dominate you. And He said to Adam, "Because you listened to your wife's voice and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'Do not eat from it': The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.
You will eat bread by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground, since you were taken from it. For you are dust, and you will return to dust."
Adam named his wife Eve because she was the mother of all the living. The LORD God made clothing out of skins for Adam and his wife, and He clothed them.( This was the first blood sacrifice shed for sins )
The LORD God said, "Since man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil, he must not reach out, and also take from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever." So the LORD God sent him away from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. He drove man out, and east of the garden of Eden He stationed cherubim with a flaming, whirling sword to guard the way to the tree of life."
The Government and many self-professed so-called intelligent men and women wish to remove all remembrance of God from peoples memories today--wish, in fact, to make themselves "god." It is precisely this kind of thinking that leads mankind into all manner of concupiscence. A God-less society is not what people really and truly want.
There is nothing worth anything without God-I know. I've been there. And it's a dark, dank and evil place.
God's laws are so important for His creation that He made sure that they were written in His inspired Holy Word by His prophets and scribes. Beginning with men of God such as Moses, through whom He gave the 10 Commandments on Mt Sinai. He considered them so important and crucial that He wrote them with His very own finger upon two stone tablets to ensure that we all remember them..
They are just as important for all mankind today. Because Almighty God? He never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever....
