Prose - Is God a monkey?

Updated on January 23, 2011

The Monkey Farmer

What have we become?
Each step closer to darkness
Mankind's journey is one of failure
The sowing of love turning to madness
A single seed planted by our father
The promise of a beautiful flower
Full of hope and eternal life
Will we ever understand it's power?
We speak of it's purpose
As if we parted the earth
Creating our own future
Smiling at our worth
The farmer silently waits
As we forget our true needs
Instead we set sail towards our island
On the ocean upon which mankind bleeds
The child leaves it's parent
Unable to accept the truth
Searching the braided mind
Our limited discovery is our proof
Intellectual blind men
Emotionally immature
Spiritually empty
Yet always so sure
The field is parched
It has become a mirage
An image full of pleasure
To ourselves we pay homage
Can good become evil?
Can a seed go bad?
It appears to be so
As life has become a fad
Reinventing the past our art
The world made in our image
Shrinking to match our minds
A primate has become our lineage
Is it any wonder?
Failure has become our legacy
We are wiser than the creator
The farmer has become a monkey

@hipcio - thank you for commenting. I'm just annoyed (if you can't tell) with the arrogance of the know it alls...

I'm not a scientist but it seems we have elevated ourselves while simultaneously dismissing anything that cannot be proven. It seems a bit limiting. I don't know to what extent Darwinism or creationism or Christianity or Islam are true. But I do believe there is some truth in all of it. And there are lies....

Poetry can be a powerful tool use as commentaries to the social ills of our world. Proponents of Darwinism will certainly take notice of your writings. Kudos.
