Asimov, the LGBT Movement, and Pseudo-Christians - Share a Common Ground.

What Do They Have in Common?

  • A misconception of heaven and hell.
  • A hatred of God.
  • The love of sin.
  • The stench of selfism.

A Prevailing Misconcept of Heaven and Hell...

Isaac Asimov on Heaven and Hell.

There is nothing frightening about an eternal dreamless sleep. Surely it is better than eternal torment in Hell and eternal boredom in Heaven. Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome.

Strange Views of Heaven and Hell.

Isaac Asimov:

I like to quote the late Asimov as he truly represents the well-educated and currently held scientific position on most any topic where religion is concern.

"If I were not an atheist, I would believe in a God who would choose to save people on the basis of the totality of their lives and not the pattern of their words. I think he would prefer an honest and righteous atheist to a TV preacher whose every word is God, God, God, and whose every deed is foul, foul, foul."

Sadly, I think he is very close to being mostly right, as is this next quote.

"If I am right, then (religious fundamentalists) will not go to Heaven, because there is no Heaven. If they are right, then they will not go to Heaven, because they are hypocrites."

LGBT:

What is interesting is the LGBT movement does not deny the existence of hell but rather relishes the idea of being where there will be no godly interference with their sinful lifestyle. Roman 1:31 explains this phenomena:

"Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

The idea of heaven is revolting, for they could never live under constant overview of their actions by a God who would disapprove. Kind of an out of sight, out of mind mentality they mistakenly imagine as freedom.

Pseudo-Christian:

To quote Benny Hinn:

“Jesus Christ knew the only way He would stop Satan is by becoming one in nature with him...He became one with the nature of Satan, so all those who had the nature of Satan can partake of the nature of God” …and…” Poverty comes from Hell. Prosperity comes from Heaven.”

I wonder what the Bible means when it states that the poor will be rich in the things of God?

… Joel Osteen:

"The Bible indicates that for three days, Jesus went into the very depths of hell. Right into the enemy's own territory. And He did battle with Satan face to face. Can you imagine what a show down that was? It was good vs. evil. Right vs. wrong. Holiness vs. filth. Here are the two most powerful forces in the universe have come together to do battle for the first time in history. But thank God. The Bible says, "Satan was no match for our Champion". This was no contest."

This is not in the Bible but a common view of many of this world's false teachers. There are thousands of fellow pseudo-Christians that hang on every word out of the mouths of these two along with many others who have a perverted view of the Word as a whole, let alone bad heaven and hell doctrine.

The Day Light Went Out in Hell.

Hell is in total pure painful darkness.

When Paradise Was Moved, Darkness Engulfed Hell.

Abel, the first to die and to be physically interred into the grave (Heb. queber) where the body lies and his soul the first to reside in Sheol, the place of the departed soul, the lighted side known as Paradise. King David stated that if he made his bed in hell (Sheol), God would be there. The three days our Lord was in the grave, Jesus visited Paradise along with the thief and fulfilled David's prophecy and when He ascended He took Paradise with Him to heaven. As the Word states: to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Any light that shone upon the hellish side of Hades was now gone and all the residents were left with an unquenchable fire, worms that would not die and a painful darkness. As Jesus stated in the Word, the wicked would be cast into outer darkness where there would be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The wicked think they will be enjoying the company of their friends but they will be blind and in perpetual pain with the knowledge that it is only going to get worse. This brings one to question those who tell us that they have been to hell and have seen loved ones and others they have known. In Exodus, the darkness of God would not let the light of a candle to be seen let alone the ability to recognize any person or object.

Haters Far Outnumber Lovers.

Isaac Asimov on the Bible.

Properly read, the Bible is the most potent force for atheism ever conceived. It seems to me that God is a convenient invention of the human mind.

The Hatred of God.

Isaac Asimov:

"I believe that only scientists can understand the universe. It is not so much that I have confidence in scientists being right, but that I have so much in nonscientists being wrong."

Science was his God but I would believe he is having some very serious second thoughts on the subject.

LGBT:

I cannot say it any better than Romans chapter one passage:

"24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves: 26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet."

Their distain for anything biblical is paraded blatantly before the world and as the scriptures tell us that there is nothing new under the sun, they willing write off Sodom and the flood as a fairy tales.

Pseudo-Christians:

When Jesus made the statement in John 14, "If you love Me, obey My commandments." If one lives a lifestyle in disobedience to the Word, they have no love our Savior and Lord. Actually they don't even like Him, because they place their personal desires and worldly goals ahead of following Jesus and His Word. Pseudo-Christians are not only made up of false teachers and their followers, but untold numbers of church leaders along with a myriad of regular pew sitters who regularly play at church and live like God doesn't exist the rest of the week. Sadly, this disease is found among the in-your-face street preachers who put on a great social media show but have adopted another gospel contrary to the love of God. No one is going to get a pass, for it is a total love or hate relationship: there is no gray area: God knows our hearts better than we do. Remember: "...many will say to Me, Lord, Lord....'

Frithjof Schuon on the Art of Sinning.

The only thing that man is capable of when left to himself is to commit the oldest sins the newest kind of ways.

The Love and Tolerance of Sin.

The world's best and brightest are very opinionated when it comes to sinning or in some cases were very opinionated.

"From a religious point of view, if God had thought homosexuality is a sin, he would not have created gay people." Howard Dean - Politician

"There is no sin except stupidity." Oscar Wilde - Playwright

"The world is not imperfect or slowly evolving along a path to perfection. No, it is perfect at every moment, every sin already carries grace in it." Herman Hesse - Author

There are many in this world, which includes the church, that are so possessed by personal pursuits and appear to not have any particular personal grievous sin problem. The problem is that they do not have a problem with sin, unless it should get in the way of their ambitions. So often we find in the business and political worlds, that certain sins can be of an advantage to the means that justify their ends. Another's greed or addiction can be very profitable and the power hungry politicos using illegals, LGBT radicalism, racism and the like to further their career. All of this is sin and entrenches them in the same category as thieves, murderers, etc.

Sadly, it is when those within the church, leadership or lay, that do not confront sin head-on, that brings shame unto the name of Christ. Do not be deceived, traitors to the Gospel will not go unpunished but shall receive a more severe condemnation. James 3:1

Carlos A. Rodriguez on Judgmental Preaching

Dear Church, John the Baptist died for exposing the sins of others. Jesus died to actually pay for the sins of others. John was great, but we should not follow his model. Our model is Christ. So, let’s stop telling the world how bad their sin is and let’s start sharing how good the Father has always been.

Selfism- The Disease of the Masses.

The world is consumed by selfism and the only remedy is a relationship with the Savior. True born-again believers also struggle with this malady and will until the day we put off this diseased flesh. The tragedy is when Christians are being spoon fed this garbage within our fellowships. What results is a league of pseudo-Christians: some game players and some game changers, i.e. street preachers.

A bone to pick with social media street preachers:

The equivalence of John the Baptist was that he was speaking to the church (Israel) which needed to be blasted concerning its sinful practices and which we need today. When speaking to the lost, we must give them hope for the sins they know they commit; most willingly, some begrudgingly.

The street preachers sin would be hard to classify as out and out hatred, but more like indifference to obedience to the Word. They say they love God but…their disobedience says otherwise. If the street preachers are saved, God will intervene until they learn to show forth the love God and they themselves repent of being judge and jury to a world that already knows they are worthy of damnation.

Jesus’ only recorded angry verbal attack on the sinful state of the lost sheep of Israel, was directed solely at the religious establishment, the Pharisees. He spoke in parables and of contrasting heaven and hell, allowing the Holy Spirit to do the work of conviction. Remember His words, “…neither do I condemn thee, go and sin no more...". If there is no compassion, it is not of Christ for He was never in anyone's face concerning their sinful state, save the Pharisees.

Yes, I've found that the misled has to be willing to be misled. Nothing can stop the heart that wants to know the Lord and nothing can persuade the one that does not.

Thanks for your comments. Every one of us has a little heresy within us, because no one knows everything perfectly this side of heaven. The difference as I pointed out in my latest article is when "form, self and dogma" replace "substance, servanthood and doctrine". I too have been misled by people I have trusted but praise God, when we, being children of the King are gently directed back to Christ and Him alone. I used the word gently though I do remember a few 2x4s across the bridge of my nose to get my attention. May God bless.

David- interesting article. I often wonder at the way atheists can so confidently describe the lack of an afterlife they have no knowledge of as your Asimov quote reflects. I'm giving you a follow and look forward to reading more of your work. PS I appreciate your calling out the falseness of J. Osteen. I was misled for years by his type of minister. God bless.
