It's about Love, Not War

Updated on June 24, 2017

As time goes by everything changes. It's inevitable!

Gone are the day's where families go to church on Sunday and have a big family brunch after. Though in some families this may occasionally happen, this is generally not the norm. As family unit's, their composition & roles have evolved, so has the upcoming generation's view of God.

I would like through this article to take you the reader, to a deeper understanding of who God is.

Many may think of God as a harsh judgmental being, sitting in Heaven waiting for you to fail so he can send a lightning bolt after you. A God at war with a wicked imperfect human race. However, the interaction of God with humanity since the beginning has been one of love and intimacy.

We are living in a time where society has strayed from Christianity and it's values. The consequences of this break in the relationship of humanity and it's creator is present in every news casting and many social media posts. Yet the same God who sent his son over 2,000 years ago to lay down his life for the price of our sin, is still the same God who is desiring to have a relationship with his creation.

In the Bible there is a book by the name of Hosea. It narrates the story of a prophet who God instructs to marry a promiscuous woman. Through this relationship God would illustrate to his people how they had strayed from him. As you read the first few chapters, you find his scolding and warnings of punishment. Yet as you continue to read, it stops speaking of Hosea and his adulterous wife and focuses on the relationship of God with his people. The last chapters, displays a heartfelt plea from God to his people to turn away from sin and pursue their relationship with him once more.

Although this generation has strayed from God, he is not at war with us. On the contrary, he loves us more than we could ever imagine. He wants us to be whole. Not only as individuals, but also as families.

God is holy and yes he disapproves of sin, but he's also a loving God who is interested in having a relationship with you. He never demanded from us something that was impossible. It is because he knew we are incapable of being without sin, that he himself through his only son Jesus, provided the perfect sacrifice to pay the debt of our sins. The world is at a chaotic state. Many don't know there is an alternative to the spiraling downfall of humanity. This is not what God intended for us. Will you reconsider Christianity? The Bible? The person of the Holy Spirit and his role in our lives? He is reaching out to you today extending intimacy with him. I dare you to wholeheartedly pray with me:

Lord I don't know you as well as I wish I could. Would you reveal yourself to me? If you are truly a God of love and mercy, I invite you Holy Spirit to open my eyes so that I may know you.

If you prayed this prayer, I invite you to start reading a Bible. I guarantee that if you seek Him, you will find Him. When you find Him, you will never be the same.

God Bless You!
