It is a prayer of sacrifice .... But it is who God intends for us to be.
A prayer on how we should treat our fellow man.
It is not about you or I it is about Him, what He did and His incredible gift to each and every one of us. We do not deserve grace but that is exactly what He gives us. It is not to be selfish it is to be selfless. It is for us to be actually more like Him. That is what He intends. It is a prayer on how we should treat each other and how God wants us to be unselfish, loving and self sacrificing. Jesus is indeed the ultimate model of sacrifice. His example is unmatched. The Bible says those who are first will be last and those who are last will be first. Prayer is so powerful and can be so very inspirational. This indeed illustrates that God wants us to be humble and to honor Him and each other in that humility. We need to be humble consistently and constantly. We need to strive to do things God's way rather than our way. To help others rather than being so very self consumed. In doing so we can become closer to God. This prayer is from St Francis of Assissi:
Make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Here are some additional verses on prayer:
Matthew 7:11 How much more will your Father who is in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Luke 6:12 Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
Luke18:1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men ought to pray and not lose heart.
Phillipians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
God bless always.
