(Jesus said) Peace be Still

Updated on December 9, 2010

Oh My Heart Be Still

My aching heart,

My stammering tongue,

Anxiousness quivering my nerves

Doubt mingled with curiosity

Causes my wondering soul to stir

Ready to react, warring within to reply,

Response murmuring upon my lips.

Yet Jesus said. " Peace be still."

Hands shaking wanting to fight.

My heart lacking rhythm

Beating at its own plight

Warning me this is not well,

Though My Jesus had said,"Peace be still."

Oh Jesus as the prophet hath spoken

"I am cut off." What did Jeremiah know?

How did he wail to you from his pain?

If to live is Christ and to die is gain

Why in my heart must I feel pain?

Travail hath abounded herself in me

Has kept me from happiness

Joy doth elude my soul

Fear encompasses all around

Laughter bound by sorrow

Has marked me with sin's stain

My spirit is broken dear LORD

I must learn from your word

I heard as David cried out

Return the joy of Thy salvation

Renew Thy spirit within me

Let me no longer lament

But before Thy throne repent,

Teach me within my soul

From Thy love not to part

Write upon my heart

Place into my will,

"Peace Be Still"

Beautiful poem. You have a beautiful dog, but then I've always thought Springers are the most beautiful dogs you can have. I now have a Brittany.

Don't know how I missed this. Glad I went back and found it. I hear the acheing of your soul in this. Because we live in a fallen world and faith is our only anchor to the divine, it is part of the natural order of things to have such anxieties. That's why we were given the word. That's why there are so many scriptures dealing with our anxiety. This was a great read. I felt a kindred spirit as I read.
