John the Baptist : An Exemplary Servant
John's clothes were made of camel's hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
Matthew 3:4
The man is resolved to live in simplicity, just wearing a camel's hair for his clothing and was fed only with locusts and wild honey, He has no desire for convenient lifestyle, he is just contented in the simplicity of a prophet's lifestyle living away from the comforts of a home life. John the Baptist is a picture of a true servant of God. He lived a life of purity, godliness, selflessness and simplicity. That's why he has a tremendous impact to the lives of people around him during his time. John the Baptist is focused on one thing , to herald the coming Kingdom of God. This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah : "A voice of one calling in the desert. Prepare the way for the Lord." His heart is firmly rooted in righteousness. His ministry cannot be simply shattered , he has a solid heart for service despite of whatever circumstances he has in life.
Christ spoke of John the Baptist , as the greatest among born of women prior to the Kindom age. John indeed is courageous enough to die for living out the truth and righteousness of God. John was too courageous to confront Herodes adulterous relationship with his brother's wife. This was the main reason behind his imprisonment and his death by beheading.John died upholding the Law of God . He was martyred for God's truth in a time not too many are willing to die for the truth and righteousness of God. John has indeed an unquestionable zeal for the Kingdom of God.
John the Baptist is one person who has completely no desire for the world, for wealth, for personal gain and comfort. His mind was firmly fixed on heralding the Kingdom of God. God indeed is truly glorified in his life.
