Know How To Apply Your Authority
Place The Devil Under Arrest
Yes, dear friend; you have the power to arrest the devil and put him in his place.
When you accepted Christ into your life and made him your lord and King, you were given a new nature.
It may take some time to manifest but you were birthed into the family of God and received his Spirit which is the agent of God that baptized you into his royal family which cries Abba-Father!
This is so exciting but the best part is that you are no longer under the Earthly lineage of Adam but under Christ which makes you an Heir to God and a joint Heir with Christ who is allowing you to sit on his throne and share in his Glory.
The only way the enemy can trip you up and keep you under his bondage is if you do not stand up and claim that you are no longer under Adam and his fleshly natures and desires but that you are a child of the most high God who is working his desires in you for when you accepted God’s plan of redemption, you were created unto good works which will glorify God.
I suggest you do a study on David and his exile in a foreign land.
Study about the wicked King giving him Ziglag as a place to live. In your study, you are going to discover a time when a well equipped army over ran his town and took his men’s wives and his very own wife hostage. You will also discover that his own loyal men spoke of threatening his life.
The word says that he encouraged himself unto the Lord and enquired if he should pursue and recover the hostages. The Lord gave him the green light but along the way, he discovered an Egyptian soldier who had fallen ill. This same soldier had been one of the men who had invaded and over run his town. When brought to David, he was asked what his occupation was and where he was from to which he replied that he was with the army that had over run Ziglag. He stated that he was a good soldier but had fallen sick after the battle and was left to die by this wicked King. He told David if he would feed him that he would tell him where the invading army is and he would recover all which he did.
Stop right there and look at us and where we were before Christ found us.
I don’t know about you but he found me struggling with a sin problem. I served my master Satan well but when I attempted to know the truth of my reason for being on earth; this wicked evil tyrant left me to die to myself and the world around me.
When Christ found me and asked me what was my occupation, I admitted that I was a sinner and Roman 3:23 says “All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God”. Ezekiel 18 in the giving of the law states that “The soul that sinneth shall surely die”. This was a law placed into effect by a Holy and Perfect God who hates sin. This alone does not give any of us a chance because of the sin nature we inherited through Adam.
When confronted with my sin, I admitted that I am a sinner and worthy of death but if he would save me that I would live and serve him. He then forgave my sin debt and took me in his word to John 10:10 that enlightens us with a glimpse of the same God with a thundering fist in the giving of the law now standing in the human form in the presence of his creation saying “that I have come that ye might have life and have it more abundantly”.
Because of Christ becoming our substitute and receiving our death sentence by being tried and executed as a criminal guilty of death, we can accept this wonderful sacrifice and allow him to come into our life and become our lord and Savior. This is the truth that will take us out of the control of that wicked fallen angel called Satan and place us into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son.
The law with all its ordinances that would keep us out of heaven has now been done away with as a means to get back into fellowship with a Holy God. Christ’s death on the cross satisfied the wrath of God and the petition that separated man from God was torn from the top to the bottom making away for us as the people of God’s creation to once again regain the fellowship that we lost through Adam.
Our God not only did wonderful things in the past through his people but is a right now God who can walk into our lives and make a difference in the here and now. We could ask some of the famous characters in the bible like Daniel or the three Hebrew children that made it through the king’s fire but really all we need to do is reflect back on our own life and recall how many times he came through for us against impossible odds.
We are children of the most high God and have been delegated the same authority that was delegated to Christ by God to operate as his ambassadors on this planet. We have been given power over the kingdom of darkness when we call on his mighty name. The Holy Spirit will cause natural law to line up with spiritual law when we line up with his word and his will.
In Isaiah 61, we find Christ standing up and reading in the synagogue proclaiming his earthly ministry and his purpose on Earth. In verse 1, we find the Lord standing in the Jewish synagogue proclaiming that he was sent to bind up the broken hearted.
The Hebrew word here means to tie up as if placing a bandage on something to connect it together. I hear Christians all the time attempting to bind the devil and he is still loose. God will decide when he will be bound but you may refer back to Matthew 12; 29 concerning entering a strong man’s house and binding the strong man to spoil his house.
We find in Matthew 18:18 that Christ told Peter that whatsoever things ye bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever things shall be loosed on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
To get an open perspective of this, we need to go to the word loose. What does this word mean in the original language it was written in? Since the New Testament was written in the Greek, we need to go there and find the word loose. The word speaks of loosing the spirit of wickedness.
The word loose here means to tear up and disassemble. If this is true then my question is why are we binding the devil and his works and loosing the Spirit of God?
I for one have enough trouble with the devil without binding him to me which makes me ask the question; have we got this spiritual key turned around?
The reason I am saying this is concerning a dream I had last year in which God was speaking to me and informing me that I had been turning the key the wrong way in the lock.
This was during the time that I had most of my book written on the believer’s authority.
This caused me to stop for the better part of a year and search this out. I know there is a prison side of binding as we found in Matthew 12:29 concerning binding the strong man which is Satan and the stronger man coming in and spoiling his goods which is Christ.
In my research, I believe that binding would be better understood as binding the mind of Christ to us and our will to his will as we find in Proverbs 3:3 which instructs us to bind mercy and truth about our neck. We also find in Proverbs 6:21 to bind our father’s commandment continually upon our heart.
The word bind here means to wrap around to build up as if splicing two plants together as in a graft to cause them to become one. If we want to dive deeper into this study, we can go to John 20:23 and hear the Lord say that “Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
We found in Matthew 18:18 that whatsoever things we bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and we know that we are ambassadors of Christ proclaiming that this world is not our home and because we believe and walk in this truth, we can exercise Mark 16 and tread upon the enemy of our souls with confidence that the Lord will be with us and confirm his word with signs following.
We know only God can forgive sins but we find here in John 20:23 that if we are wronged, we can either release the person who wronged us or we can hold them accountable for their actions. It is far better for us to release them and give them to God for in so doing we release our-self and even though we were wronged, we release them of being accountable to us and leave the vengeance up to God.
I know some important leaders who believe that they can use the Psalms to bring something bad on someone who has come against their ministry. Are we capable of unleashing demons to attack our fellow brother and sisters?
Would a Holy perfect God who allows it to rain on the just and unjust look the other way when he instructed us to pray for our enemies and those who may despite-fully use us and cast our name out as evil? I think not because if he were to show up, some of our controlling ways of witch craft would be exposed for the worked up flesh that it is.
With this in mind, let’s go back to the word loose. If the word tells us in Isaiah 58:6 to loose the spirit of wickedness then why are we attempting to loose the Holy Spirit when the word declares plainly that He is not bound. Isaiah 58:6 is speaking of a condition concerning the fast that God requires that will break the yoke and bring us fresh revelation. Isaiah 58:6: Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands (Spirit) of wickedness, to undo heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?
The word used here for loose is to undo, break up, tear apart, and disassemble. With this in mind, then why not go into spiritual warfare and loose wrong patterns of thinking, bad habits, soul ties of past relationships and what about past hurts and disappointments?
There is room for thought on both ways but I tried this way on several people and found out that within days, the results of change were noticed in their lives. Mark 16 speaks that we are enabled by his grace to tread upon the enemy of our souls with confidence and know that the Lord will be with us confirming his word with signs following.
This book is dedicated to my late father J. R. Hulse and my loving mother, Beluah Hulse of Kingsport, TN. They have instilled in me the principles of Jesus Christ and helped to build character as a man of God. I pray that this book will be life changing for all those who will read it. On behalf of my late father, he has always been a man of integrity and assisting the common man out of the goodness of his heart. I miss you Dad and I know one day we will re-unite again and that will be a marvelous reunion.
