Lazy Saturdays in Time
Welcome
Good morning all and welcome as always to the Fireside. We have made it to another lazy Saturday and I do hope you are finding the same. Come in and get warm, rest up and join in with the rest of us. Help yourself to the refreshments and goodies. Be careful of Quigley, she is on her usual morning terrorize the house routine. She gets so silly in the mornings.
Welcome winter, it has arrived for about the next week or so according to what the weatherman is telling us. Cold, snow and high winds so might as well park here for a spell. I so love these days when you can be inside and watch the world slip by. Mrs. Quill is having a sleep in this morning so it is just you and I and Quigley and the several tropical fish that wiggle every time you walk past their tanks.
The Chill
A Taste
In case you missed it coming in this is what it looks like this morning at 7:15 am outside. The kind of wind that slips right through you. It is a rude awakening from a nice warm bed. The kind of wind that make Quigley have one of those really quick morning pee's.
Winter is special though as much as I complain about it. It is a time of the year when the earth gets a rest after working so hard to produce for all our needs. She deserves the rest just as God has planned it to be. We are located in some of the highest producing farm land here in Alberta and the land is hard working as are the people who farm it.
Technology has entered into the farming community and the size of the family farm has increased over the years and some of the equipment they are using these days takes up the entire road and then some when they are moving from one field to the next. Plotting a field with GPS and the many new innovations to reduce the costs is something to behold. Hats off to those who are stepping into the arena and taking on the new challenges.

Visiting Mom
We are taking a short road trip today to visit with Mrs. Quill's mm in a continuing care facility. She lived upstairs in the house when we we were in the city and when we decided to move to a smaller center she was part of our plan. Sadly though a few days after she got settled in she had a stroke and we thought we were going to loose her then but she is still ticking along. She has slowed considerably and has some memory loss. It is sad in many ways but then she has reached the age of 90 now.
I often think of the old days in the city and the days of her sitting in her chair looking over the day through her picture window. She loved to watch her flowerbeds flourish as I would tend to them daily for her. The amount of prayer that we were covered wit daily was incredible. She is a prayer warrior and has gone to battle many times over the years for those who came and went from her life. She has survived the death of her husband, two children, many siblings, two great grandchildren and many others. As short as her memory is she still recites Scripture and knows she is loved.
The best part is she is still sharp when she is teased and is able to pass it right back. She loves it, not that I would ever do that to her or anything.
The Resting Place
Rest
I will be heading out to the cabin in the mountains within the next while. The peace and quiet out there is second to none and I do love the time I have there. It is a completely isolated and very rustic with no amenities with the exception of and wood stove and an outhouse. All else needs to be brought in.
I must own up to the fact I do have a generator. A must as I need to charge the computer. I have a project I have been working on for the past few months I need to get complete. It is a three book novel series called "Checkers Corner." An interesting Christian/Fiction that has unfolded as I have been writing. The reviews on the first two I have been getting back are a blessing to read about. It is of a man and his friendship he has established with a wild wolf in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and the people who have come and gone from his life. He is a man who has seen his fair share of suffering and healing he has found with Christ.
It was inspired at this cabin and seems only fitting to come to a close there. I would appreciate your prayers over its completion.
Soon
Soon
I was looking through the masses of pictures I have on the computer and this one popped up this morning reminding me change will be along soon. This was taken in one of the flowerbeds we have in the front of the house. I so love and appreciate Tiger Lilly's. A shame their life span is so short.
God's grace is sufficient to carry us through the cold, the pain and the suffering and bring us out better people when we stop and look at His creation and the many blessings He gives us. As you go through this day and the next and the next, take the time to seek out what He has to offer. He is a God of love and will fill your day with His presence if you allow it. Take the time each night as you rest your head on the pillow and recall all He has done for you and thank Him. He is the provider of all and He loves us all so dearly.
Heavenly Father, You and You alone know the plans You have for each of us. Teach us to be ever mindful of love and Your grace in all we say and do. Thank You for Your love and I speak blessing into all who read this. May You touch them in a profound way this day....
