Life must be lived in discipline while performing duties!

fulfilling Life...

What is Life?

What is life? Is it entertainment all day long? Is it work, to feed our bellies? Is it a training ground for higher realities? Is it a game to be played and won? Is it sharing and caring others? Is it service to fellow beings? Is it for realizing our ultimate reality or identity? We may ponder over the answers according to our mental grasp. It is how we are trained in the society! It is the guidance of the religious scriptures; teachings of great souls lived on earth like us!

Human beings as one species are mostly alike in thinking and intellectual capacities. It is how each one develops their intellectual capabilities over the course of life. In some people, the intellect remains dormant due to nonuse. But a few people develop their intellect to a great extent to dwell on the aim of life. Some people focus only on the material aspects of life like earning enormous wealth and acquiring many properties during the course of their profession. But, many people work and toil many hours during the day but earn very little. Yet some people sit quiet and acquire the properties earned by their parents on legacy. They feel that it is not necessary to toil since they have been bequeathed with ancestral properties. And in society we notice people of varying skills. But there is one more category that cheats the other and usurps their wealth. Though we look human in form, our inner propensities differ much. No two people are alike.

Life is a journey and not competition

Each one is different in efforts!

If we dwell upon all these complexities of life, each one reaps what he has sown earlier. If one remained idle throughout his life, he cannot hope to enjoy a care free life in the fall years. The differences in the life style of people create much jealousy in the mind of people who are less fortunate. Then there is greed rising in the minds of people to acquire more and more by hook or crook. Again there are some virtuous people who follow the code of conduct laid down in the scriptures. Though they may suffer during their life, they develop equal mindedness in course of time. They become aware that they need to follow human virtues in order to purify their inner conscious which may lead them to the ultimate reality of life. Life is not definitely meant for enjoyment and entertainment. Enjoyment is the forte of animal and bird species. Human beings are the highest in creation. They should never degrade themselves pursuing cheap sensual pleasures. Instead, they should discipline their wandering mind and focus on esoteric subjects.

Education is not commercial item.

Educational system is responsible for greed and selfishness!

There are two types of knowledge. One is needed for living in this world and the other is needed to reach our ultimate destination of life. As long as we live in this world, we have to take care of the body, fulfilling the basic needs like food, water and shelter. In addition, we are entrusted with a family who depend on us for their need and survival. Hence it is our fundamental duty to take care of the family including parents and other elders. In Hindu philosophy, it is incumbent on the house holder to take care of their parents and other elders in addition to one’s wife and children. Even animals take care of their offspring till they attain capability to mend themselves. Hence it is all the more essential that able bodied young people take care of their kith and kin as well as the poor and underprivileged in society. If each one takes care of others, the society will remain peaceful. But in the present materialistic trend, we find people more selfish and they never care for the sufferings of people in the next door.

For all such evils in society, the present day educational pattern is more responsible. In every university, in every technical Institute, students are taught to develop their skills to compete in society and earn their livelihood. Human values are never taught in any of the Universities. Hence there is cut throat competition in every field. We find that education has evolved into commercial category. Huge fees are paid even in kindergarten classes. In every town and city, there are many private schools which charge the parents exorbitantly. Nowadays, parents find it very difficult to educate their wards. There are government schools in other places which charge only reasonable fees. Hence many poor children get admission in government run schools.

Health care has become a commercial venture!

The next big commercial institute is health care industry. Yes, it has become a huge industry. Hence people pay through their noses to cure their ailment and become pauper. Why the Medical professions which is a service oriented profession, charge their patients this way? The reason is not hard to judge. For securing admission in Medical collages, students have to pay many lakhs of rupees as donation or capitation fees. Hence, it is natural for them once they become Medical graduates to retrieve them back from the poor patients! It is the lack of virtue and sacrifice which is the cause4 of this selfish greed among Doctors and Educationists.

It is high time that people should their selfishness and greed and serve the society with selfless Love!
