Studying the bible is always good. For years, I have been studying the bible and I found it wonderful

In the first article I have introduced this topic, shared with us whom the author of the book made his strong refuge, some of the characteristics of refuge and some of the reasons why he decided to make the Lord God his refuge, I will continue in this article to write about the other reasons why he made God his refuge and hopefully trusting God to minister unto your heart to make the Lord God your sole refuge from thenceforth.

4. He Allows that he be Delivered Safely

God did not only hold him up from the womb without ensuring that he was given birth to safely.

It makes no sense when one starts something and one cannot pursue the thing through, one cannot see the thing to a logical conclusion.

The lord God would not start a thing without seeing it to completion what he will start and he will not see to completion he undoubtedly will not start it.

That is one of the attributes and characteristics of God, thus apostle Paul in his epistle to the saints in Philippians says he who has started a good thing in you (us) will see it to completion.

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: (Php 1:6)

God started a good thing in the life of this author as well as in his mother’s life for he allows her mother to carry his pregnancy without getting terminated at the first, second, neither third trimester. He allows her to carry the pregnancy to term and allowed the baby to be delivered safely without issues.

The writer can therefore not but say, that, it is Elohim, Jehovah who allows his mother to bring him forth safely from the womb.

By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. (Psa 71:6)

He has every reason to say that he was the one who took him out of the womb of his mother, because shaving heard of some that have been delivered as still birth, he would say that. In the same way does in apply to us, we all have been brought out of our mother’s womb by the Almighty. For assuming he did not bring us out of our mother’s wombs we would have been given birth to as still birth or our pregnancies would have been aborted before we were carried to term.

If a man beget an hundred children, and live many years, so that the days of his years be many, and his soul be not filled with good, and also that he have no burial; I say, that an untimely birth is better than he. (Ecc 6:3)

Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light. (Job 3:16)

He was able to see the light of the day, the light of the land of the living because God took him out of her mother’s womb.

Poll: Think About This:

Have you at any time think about it that it is God that took you out of your mother’s womb?

See results

Many people do think it is because their mothers were careful when they were carrying their pregnancies, it is because their mothers kept to the medical instructions, among other things that made them to come out of their mother’s womb safely. They wouldn’t reason that there are people who are more cautious than their mothers but who couldn’t carry their babies to term and those who carried it to term never delver the baby safely like it did happen to Rachel and the daughter in-law of Eli the high priest (1 Sam 4:19-20).

And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.

And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin. (Gen 35:17-18)

It should be known that whatever God has started in our lives he would see it to completion as he has kept us in our mother’s wombs and ensured that we be given birth to safely.

5. Deep Reflection of These

Deep reflection of this makes him to give his appreciation unto the Lord because he knows that he has been with him ever since then, since the time he was delivered. Having been with him in that respect, he sees that there no one else who should be praised if not Yahweh.

By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. (Psa 71:6)

We equally need to know that ever since we have being begotten it has been God for us and with us, since we have always have God by our sides, then we should always give our praises unto him, he deserves to be praised continually, he deserves to be praised without ceasing.

The apostle says we could also give our praises to him through the hymns and singing of melodious songs, singing of new songs to him, within our hearts in our secrets and in the open.

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; (Eph 5:19-20)

Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. (Psa. 33:3)

6. He Became a Wonder

An author says the meaning of the word wonder here is he becomes frightful spectacle which people are afraid to come near because of the divine dealings he has enjoyed and which he was yet enjoying.

I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. (Psa. 71:7)

The frequencies of the divine interventions he enjoys people couldn’t fathom the source of those enjoyment and behold him as if he was an angel or god as the people’s perspectives of Apostles Paul and Barnaba were in Lystra.

And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, the gods are come down to us in the likeness of men. (Act 14:11)

Wonder in Hebrew word here is “מפת מופת”, Romanized form is môphêth môphêth (pronounced as mo-faith', mo-faith') which means a miracle, a sign.

E-sword in her commentary of as a wonder says, it is kemopaton. They look at him as "as a prodigy," in his low estate, as he slays the lion and bear, conquers the Philistine, escaped the fury of Saul, being raised to the throne of Israel (against all odds), endured such uncommon trials and afflictions, and experiencing such wonderful deliverances. These all mark me out as the subject of "wonder unto many; but thou art my strong Refuge."

He was a sign unto them for they cannot fathom how he could have escaped all those without hitches, without having a scar on him.

7. His Acknowledgement

He acknowledges that though the people do not know the secret of his being, that is why they behold him as a sign among them, but he knows and acknowledges the role of Jehovah Elohim in all of these, he knows that without him there couldn’t have been him. Thus, he says, but thou art my strong refuge.

Since he has been relying on God from his youthful period and he has found him faithful in all his dealings with him, he thence decides to make him his strong refuge, he says with unequivocal confidence that Elohim has been his strong refuge.

Not too Late

I want to herein reiterate to you that it is not too late for thee also to make God thine strong refuge. When thou did make him your strong refuge, he will also take care of you as he has done for the author of this book David.

You need know that now is the time to make that decision to make him your strong refuge than in the previous times, for during this pandemic, we need a sure and definite refuge from the attacks of the enemies and the virus, for the bible says, enemies have done this. The pandemic is the word oif the devil because all that the Lord does is very good, but the devil will always seek for a way to want to upend the works of God and that is what he has been doing with this pandemic and other forms of troubles that has betide mankind. But if we can make him our absolute refuge, we shall enjoy uncommon providence from our Lord as he has said that he would put those troubles under our feet.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luk 10:19)

He has said let all men be liar, but he will remain true to his words, he won’t fail his words, he won’t go back on his sayings.

God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; …” (Rom 3:4a)

You should believe his sayings and give this a trial today, do not pussyfoot again about coming to him to become thine strong refuge like a child who runs to an old person to become a refuge unto him from the attacks of others pursuing him, so need you to run to the Lord today so that he would become thine strong refuge in all and every situations in life.
