Hols have come up, and to Christians, is somehow sums up as weddings. This is the most cheerful season of the year, save Christmas, lots of prospects for to be brides and bridegrooms. So why not have a wedding song to heighten spirits.

As Christians, we will certainly have heard Buthikettada Anbil Vareer Parum or 'O Perfect Love, All Human Thought Transcending', but it was oringinally 'Strength and Stay'. A lady loved its tune so much that she thought it was a thousand pities that it was not happy lyrics, but you know what, lyrics don't matter, the tune, tone, rythym and translation of mere vocabulary into vocal beauty by means of emotions, pure, untainted, passionate feelings matter. So she asked her sister who wrote poetry to change it into a wedding song, and turned out O Perfect Love which is so loved by all. But this song needs no tweaking, its got the perfect tune AND lyrics to create the pure magic of matrimonial beauty.

A speciality of this song written by Mrs. Bharathi is that it reflects the quintessential Indian, pre-Christian spirit while it speaks of Mangalam, it speaks of auspiciousness, an important note of Tamil Weddings or any special occasion for that matter coupled with Christian love and faith. It's a masterpiece, no wedding is complete without it.

Mangalam Sezhikka Kirubai Aruzhum Mangala Naadhane
Let all prosper, blessed by thy grace, Auspicious(Joyous) Lord

Mangalam Nithiya Mangalame
Flourishing, always, Flourishing
Mangalam Muthiyum Naadanum nee
The fullest bloom of goodness, art thou

Engal Pungavane, Engal Thungavane
Our Protector, Our All-mighty Conqueror
Uthama Sathiya, Nithiya Thathuva, Metha Magathuva
Purest Promise, Ever-sustaining essence, Greatest of The Glorious

Athanukathanama, Aaviram Thevane
Above all and everything, thou Lord of Abraham!

Mangala Manamagan Avargalukkum
To the Prosperous Groom's esteem
Mangala Manamagal Ammalukkum
And the Prosperous Lady's esteem
Mannuvelarkum, Maganubavarkum
To all of Mankind, And all veterans and wisest in life
Bakthiyudan Buthi, Mukthiyalithidum
Coupling faith with wisdom, That liberates and chastens the soul
Nithiyane Ummai, Thuthiyam Seithidum
Eternal Lord, we come together to Glorify thy praises
Sathiya Vetharkum
With thy life-giving, righteous verses
