MIA - In America
Throughout history and every war there have been those who were classified as Missing in Action (MIA). Wikipedia gives this definition in the opening lines of the article on MIA.
"Missing in action (MIA) is a casualty classification assigned to armed services personnel and other combatants who are reported missing during wartime. They may have been killed, wounded, become a prisoner of war, or deserted."
This is a very well rounded statement describing exactly what is meant by MIA. Notice first of all that it is a a casualty classification assigned to those in battle. The article then goes on to explain the condition of those that are missing in action. They may have been killed. They may have been wounded. The enemy may have captured them, or they may have deserted, never to be heard from again.
We most often think of MIAs as relating to wars on foreign soil We think of those who went missing during WWI and II. Perhaps the Korean War or the Viet Nam War come to mind. More recently we think of those in the Middle East who may never be heard from again.
No matter the war, the MIA is a valiant person (except those who desert). We owe much to every soldier who ever sacrificed for this great nation called America, but for those who go missing there is an extra burden. There is no closure for family and loved ones. Still life goes on.
I stand behind every man or woman who has gone off to battle. They are to be admired, not criticized. They are to be looked up to, not belittled as if their sacrifice means nothing. To give one's life is the greatest sacrifice anyone could give, and yet we take it so casually...
The Battle is Spiritual
September 11, 2001 brought the battle field to America. The death of the 9/11 attacks has been placed at about 2,800. Less than 1,600 bodies have been identified. The rest - missing in action. Whether at the Trade Towers, the Pentagon. or Flight 93, these many offered the ultimate sacrifice.
But there is another war going on, on America's battlefield. It is a spiritual war, and it exists on a spiritual battlefield. Man is an intricate creature. He possesses three distinct parts to his being, the most obvious being the body. The body houses the soul - the real you. It is not my eyes that see, rather my soul sees through the body's eyes. It is not my ears that hear, but it is my soul that hears through the instrument of my ears. The body is just a vehicle to house the soul. The real person lives inside.
Yet there is one other important aspect to mankind - his spirit. The body protects the soul. It encases the real you. The human race also contains a spirit which is not the same as the soul. The spirit is that part of a being that can communicate with God. That is not to say that all people communicate with God. It is to say all people have the ability, if they choose, to communicate with God. We are told in John 4:24, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." The spirit is the connector to heavenly things.
This is not the case with animals. Animals certainly possess a body. Within that body is housed the real animal, its soul, but there is no spirit, at lest not as it applies to mankind
I have four cats and a dog. Never once have I seen any of them say grace before they eat. Never once have they joined the family in a time of prayer..They never begged me to take them to church to worship. Only man has that ability.
Man is made up of three distinct parts - body, soul, and spirit. We are told in Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow [body], and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Each facet of our make-up is connected. When the body suffers, the soul is affected. A weak body or soul can affect the spirit. That being said, there is a spiritual battle going on in America today. If the body, soul, and spirit are not in top shape, the soldier will fall.
Whether you are aware of it or not does not change the truth. The truth is satan has unleashed thousands of his henchmen on mankind, and especially on America for reasons that would call for another hub. The battle is spiritual, and can only be won on the spiritual battlefield.
The Apostle Paul says in Ephesians 6:12, " For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.".
Unfortunately there are far too many spiritual MIAs. Also, unfortunately I need to put the blame where it belongs. We born-again Christians.have dropped the ball. We have given up the fight, and in these last days the devil has hardly any resistance in the world. He just does what he does, seemingly with no problem. I have read the end of the Book, so I know he is a defeated foe. He knows it too, but in the meantime he's doing all he can to stop the progress of the church.
We see government falling apart. I am ashamed of all the candidates in one way or another. But government is not going to save this nation. As a matter of fact, in my opinion, the government has put us on a self-destructive road. The economy is not able to rescue us. A change in the moral climate of America will not save this one-time powerful nation..

What We Must Do
It is clear from Scripture that America will one day be destroyed. Impossible - you say? September 11, 2001 was impossible on September 10, 2001. The destruction will come. Our only hope is to delay God's judgment on His rebellious nation. What we must do is to fall to our knees, and repent. God has spared other nations given over to sin. He will do it for America too, but we must make the first move.
Someone, somewhere has to see the necessity of pleading with God in prayer for the USA. Someone, somewhere must allow themselves to weep for a nation gone astray. Someone, somewhere needs to see the seriousness, and the lateness of the hour. Someone, somewhere needs to see our slipping nation through God's eyes
The American church has faded away into almost nothingness. Christians, for the most part are powerless against the attacks of the wicked one. We fail to stand when and where we can. But most of all - we have failed pray to the only One who can help.
This is your invitation to sign up at The Great American Fast (www.thegreatamericanfast.org). We need you!
Daniel prays for his nation in Daniel 9:5, " We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments." He continues in verse 13 - ". . . all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth."
He acknowledges the transgressions, the sins of his nation; but comes to a sad truth; the sad truth that comes to America today. The evil has come upon us. Still we make no petition to the Lord. We ignore Him and insist on doing it ourselves. The church house has taken on the appearance of an entertainment house, and worse. Holy living? It is hardly found in the 21st century New Testament Church. The presence of Christ is just about non-existent- He's standing on the outside knocking, waiting for you to open the door (Revelation 3:20). Most doors are barred shut from the Holy One.
Without repentance, and turning back to the God who gave us this once great nation, we have no hope - period. America, I am pleading with you. Turn back to the One who loves you, to the One who gave Himself for you. The time is near. Are you really ready? Do not be found missing in Action...
