Medjugorje: A place of healing.

Updated on December 13, 2010

Medjugorje is a small village in Bosnia. what is phenomenal about this town is that there have been claims of the virgin Mary coming here and blessing people who are in need. She gives messages and heals believers that come to this village.People say her mission is about peace, healing and that she has returned to this place to help others in need. This village is an unsolved mystery. There are testimonies and stories of people that were healed.

A man named Damir Coric suffered from internal hydrocephalus. He had gone under several operations. Each operation caused hemorrhaging and would not make him any better. He had lost a great deal of weight and was very sick. People in the village of Medjugorje prayed for him and he gained back his strength and all of the sudden was cured.

There was also a story about a women who was completely crippled. Doctors said she would never walk again. She didn't have enough money to go to this village. Instead she prayed and thought about it every night. One day she woke up andfelt weird. she STEPPED out of bed with the feet the doctors said she would never walk on..She was cured.

Could this be miracles and the hand of Virgin Mary at work or are there scientific ways to prove this phenomonon.

From a psychologist perspective this could be like a form of the "placebo effect" Because people are told that they will get better if praying or thinking of the village people miraculously got better. With the placebo effect you give someone a pill telling them it will help; and with mind over matter it does! This actually works a lot of the time. The brain is very powerful and many parts of it aren't yet explained. but perception does create reality and if these people PERCEIVED being healthy they might have just become healthy.

But the perception over reality also brings me the conclusion of the "pwoer of the universe." The law of attraction according to the Secret teaches that what you think will be so and the universe will bring those type of thoughts into your real world.

Or maybe the Virgin Mary did heal these people. You can't scientifically prove religious beliefs but you can certainly feel them. If these people believe in a higher power more power to them!

Whatever the case may be this is a truly interesting phenomenon that is still happening to this day.
