Mercury in Aquarius Explained

Updated on September 28, 2011

Mercury is the planet that directly influences our communication styles. If you were born with Mercury in Aquarius, this Aquarian energy will have a big role in the way you interpret the world around you. It will affect the way you think, the way you learn, the way you talk to others and the way you perceive what is said to you. To learn more about this sign, please see below!

Uncommon in Every Way

Few people are as hard to get a read on as Mercury in Aquarius. They will strike most people as flaky and erratic, but the truth is that there is a method to their madness -- even if you and I will probably never be able to figure out what it is! These folks follow the beat of their own drummer, but it does work for them, somehow. They are very mischievous when it comes to conversing with others, often going out of their way to throw a monkey wrench into a perfectly calm discussion, just to see how others will react to it. They are not necessarily trying to cause an argument, but they are known to stir up controversy to prove a point in a roundabout way. So if you notice a glint in the eye of the Aquarius who has just asked you a bizarre question, note that he or she is probably trying to prove a point in some unusual way that only he can understand!

Totally Original

Mercury in Aquarius is a very innovative thinker and some of their ideas are so unusual that it could take a lot of time for a more practical / logic-based sign to get their head round the ideas put forward by some of them. What's even more amazing is that many of their unorthodox ideas actually work, even if you were absolutely sure they couldn't. This sign loves to think outside the box and they will soak up abstract ideas in school that make other peoples brains hurt. Aquarius musicians can hear things in their minds that other musicians would think impossible to pull off, and yet somehow Aquarius' brain manages to find a way to make it happen. There is a genius to their thought process that is far ahead of their peers.

More Intellectual Than Most

Mercury in Aquarius may seem like they aren't totally invested in a given situation, but this is because they are more cerebral than anything else. They are fully present, but thought gives them more pleasure than almost anything else and they will often become distracted if the present situation isn't intellectually stimulating enough. They prefer to keep the company of others who can keep up with their innovative ideas, and they can sometimes look down on those who just never seem to get the genius of their ideas. This is a sign who is passionate about creative thinking, and that is largely due to the fact that Mercury is totally exalted in Aquarius. In other words, this is one of the best places the planet could possibly be, allowing to operate freely and without any hindrance of any kind.
