Mercury in Aries Explained

Updated on September 28, 2011

Mercury is the great communicator and where it was located at the time of your birth will affect your communication style. Those with Mercury in Aries will have be influenced by this energy when interpreting the world around them. It will affect the way you think, the way you learn, they way you feel about what's going on in your environment. To learn more about how it will affect you personally, please continue reading below!

Fast Thinkers!

People with Mercury in Aries can think on their feet and often fly by the seat of their pants. Sometimes this works out well, sometimes not! Aries is the most impulsive and impatient sign in the entire zodiac (I happen to be one!) and when this energy is applied specifically to the thought process, it doesn't always allow the person to make a well-informed decision, or give them time to consider what the repercussions of that decision might be. This is classic Aries in every sense of the word! If you've got this Mercury sign, you may want to try and slow down a bit before you make any major decisions, because some things cannot be decided in heat of the moment. Sometimes, decisions which may seem trivial are more significant that you realize!

Easily Bored!

Mercury in Aries wants you to get to the point, as they truly do not enjoy being bored by small details that seem not to matter in the grand scheme of things. Focusing on things that seem unimportant (such as certain school subjects!) can really be a struggle because they would much rather be learning about something interesting and useful. But if you can give them a task that requires initiative, creativity and loads of energy, they will nail it in record time and amaze you with the results. They simply need to be motivated with something they feel is worthy of the effort, because they never do anything halfway. That said, they are famous for skipping small steps that seem unnecessary for success... these people would much rather chuck the instructions for setting up their new mobile phone, even it means spending 10 hours longer to figure it out by the process of deduction. They much prefer "doing" something, instead of simply having to "read" about how it's done!

Issues with Authority

Few Aries children are known for sharing or working well with others. This is a learned skill that we (as I've already said, I am an Aries!) have to learn over time. We are particularly unappreciative of being told what to do, and being that Mercury is the planet of communication, Mercury in Aries will feel this just as strongly as an ordinary Aries. When they are asked to contribute, they will rise to the occasion and then some. When demanded, they tell you where you can stick your commands. It's all down to how they are asked, really. And they should be given a lot of room to perform tasks in the way they feel most comfortable, as they can be rather unconventional when it comes to getting the job done. But the job will get done, and the results will almost always be impressive.
