God of Protection: Miracle Stories part 5

Updated on February 15, 2016

God of Protection

This is the last part (I think) in a series about different types of Miracles. In this article I will share three true stories about the miracles of God's protection in my life. "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!"

  • Surely an angel of God was sent to protect our precious baby girl. As my daughters looked on they held their breath as the baby flew off the swing. It was as if everything slowed way down as wings surrounded her, protecting her, on her journey down. "How precious is Your loving kindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. " Psalm 36:7
  • One night I was taking a long trip when my car broke down. I was so frightened because we were in the middle of nowhere. Learn how God sent a couple of couples to rescue my family and me.
  • A campfire is welcoming and glorious. Campfires are associated with families, fun, outdoors and intimacy. On one of our camping trips, our campfire turned from welcoming to a ferocious enemy in the snap of a finger. Read how God protected my girl in a miraculous display of His presence.

Be sure to read Provision Miracles: Miracle Stories part 4.

God of Protection

Swinging Miracle

On a lovely summer day, my two grown up daughters were spending time together at the park. Renee's four-year-old twin girls were whizzing around the monkey bars as Aunt Christy chased them.

Renee was pushing Christy's baby girl on a swing. As she gently pushed Brianna she smiled, looking on at her twins having fun with her sister. Carefully pushing little baby Brianna, Renee was impressed that this, not quite two-year-old, knew how to hang on to a swing so well. Brianna's tiny fingers wrapped tightly around the chains with a sort of death grip. Baby Brianna was smiling and giggling with delight as the wind blew her curls back.

Christy and Renee were relaxed as they chatted back and forth and entertained the girls. As Renee continued to push Brianna on the swing suddenly, Brianna flew out of the swing and, way up high, into the air. Both girls screamed with horror. Time seemed to stand still. They were hyper-focused on the baby; both of them frozen in place, mesmerized by what they witnessed. The moment felt like a dream, as they watched Brianna floating in the air. Brianna seemed to be enveloped in angelic wings. She was softly gliding, right and then left, in a slow, rhythmic and ethereal pattern. The girls could see that she was being softly and gently transported to the earth.

When baby Brianna reached the ground she clapped her hands in delight, eager for another swing adventure. Though the girls were speechless and their pounding hearts terrified; they were filled with awe and wonder. They knew they had just witnessed a miracle of protection from God. There was NO doubt that an angel had carried Christy's baby girl to a miraculous and safe landing. This was a protection miracle. Only God could do this.

Protection in Travel

Traveling Miracle

Our former Church, where my husband was Pastor for five years, was hosting a 100th year celebration. They invited our family to join them to commemorate 100 years of God's faithfulness. We accepted the invitation and eagerly anticipated reuniting with these precious people.

Little did I know that this invitation would include a traveling miracle. My husband left on that Thursday in order to take part in the preparations for the festivity.

On Friday, after I had worked all day, my son, his girlfriend and my first granddaughter, Kristin, piled in the car and prepared for the five-hour trip that lay ahead of us. Driving down the road I could feel myself beginning to unwind. We were telling stories laughing and enjoying our time together.

Just two hours down the road the darkness began to close in on us. We were on a secluded area of the highway with nothing but forests and trees surrounding us. As we were traveling along, my car started sputtering. I pulled over to the side of the road. My son lifted the hood to look underneath it. We jumped back quickly as a cloud of steam came bursting from under the hood. I knew we were in trouble and that I would not be driving this car any further.

Though I was terrified I put on my best 'Mom's strong and serious' look and gathered the kids around me. "Listen, we are going to have to walk until we come to an exit. Under NO circumstances will we receive a ride, do you understand?" My son and his girlfriend shook their heads in agreement. The kids got the stroller out and as they were busy settling our baby girl, I heard a car horn beep. I looked to the right and realized there was a car on a service road. A man hollered out to me, "Do you need help?"

I turned toward the car and walked through the brush so he could hear my answer. As I got closer I observed an older couple with another 'really older' couple in the back seat. The lady in the front was holding a small dog. As I drew closer, they all smiled at me. I knew in my heart that these people could be trusted.

Opposing what I had just told the kids, I called out for them to come. The couple had offered us a ride into town. As we were riding I asked the man driving how he happened to be on such a lonely road at this time of night. He answered simply, "We were just out for a ride."

After being delivered safely to the town's gas station, relief swept over me. I thanked them many times. The couples smiled at me and their faces radiated with kindness. I knew once again that God had sent protection my way. I believe they were angels. Only God could do this.

Angel of Protection

Campfire Miracle

Our family loves to camp. Each summer, as the kids were growing up, we packed our gear to head for Michigan. Some of our favorite things to do had to do with our Campfire. As the day turned to dusk we built a big bomb fire then cozied up close to roast marshmallows, rehearse funny family stories, sing our favorite songs and then wind down and enjoy the quietness as we watched the lazy burning flickers lick at the logs.

One night as the kids were sitting around the campfire, a small alarm went off inside of me. I became keenly aware that my 5-year-old was sitting way too close to the fire. She was oblivious to the danger as she contentedly roasted her marshmallow in the ferocious, hot flames. My adrenaline kicked in as I sprinted toward her but before I could get to her the folding chair, she was sitting on, began to fold over on itself, with Christy encased in its grip. As the chair folded it carried Christy, face first, right into the middle of the fire. Watching this horrific scene, I froze in place. I screamed a guttural cry for help. Thankfully, my husband, Gary was in full rescue mode and raced to pull her out of the fiery pit. I watched as he bent over and curled both of his arms around the chair and Christy's little body. He pulled her up and out of the fire, turning her body towards him, as he quickly untangled her from the chair. I ran to my grab up my little girl. I was weeping as I searched her little body for burn marks. As my eyes searched rapidly I was stunned to find nothing. Though Christy had just been trapped in the roaring fire, with burning embers in her face, there was no evidence that the fire had touched her. I held her close to my heart and felt such deep gratitude for God's protection.

After making sure that Christy was safe, we examined the chair that had delivered her into the fire. We were shocked to see a silhouette of Christy's tiny frame burnt crisply into the webbing of the chair. God had saved our girl in an indisputable and miraculous exhibition of his protective hand. Gary's arms were not burned either. The only evidence of his successful rescue were a few singed hairs on his arms. Only God could do this.

God's Love and Faithfulness

So much gratitude and love for God were implanted in my heart as a result of these miracles. God's love and faithfulness screamed out to all of us and we were forever changed. His tender love and attention to our needs, and sometimes desires, absolutely blows me away.

Lest you think my life has been filled with one miracle after another - let me tell you I have served my time in the wilderness too. A dry and thirsty land where I learned lessons I could learn no other way. Even in the wilderness, there were miracles of God as He showed me great mysteries and He disciplined me in areas I was weak; which resulted in making me stronger.

He is an Amazing and personal God and I thank Him for His great love and for all of the Miracle Stories of my life.

God of Miracles

Thank you for coming by for a read and sharing some of the amazing miracle stories of my life.

As I follow Jesus and live my life for His glory, there is a keen awareness that God's hand is actively involved in my life. Miracles are one way that God reveals Himself.

Walking down memory lane, to recount some miracle stories, has been an astounding revelation to me. I set out to write one hub on the Miracles God has so graciously bestowed on me. i

After completing four Hubs on personal miracles in my life - the accumulation of instances has blown me away. It is so clear that He dearly loves me and is actively involved in my life.

What can I give Him ... give Him my heart.

What a beautiful article! I absolutely enjoyed reading about these miracles. Nothing is ever too small to be a miracle, nor do I believe it to be coincidental. When your eyes are open to the Spirit, you more easily recognize the Lord's work all around you. God bless you and yours!

God is so amazing! He saved your little girl from the first just as he did Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego centuries ago! Thanks for sharing your miracles and proving once again that God does work miracles in our lives. We just have to stop and recognize them.

Hello Sweet Blossom. The exact same song was running through my head as I put the series on Miracle Stories together. We must never forget the Miracles God has performed in our lives. Don't want to be like the Israelites.

Thank you for stopping by with a word of cheer.

A beautiful hub. Our God is a God of miracles and they do still happen. How lovely to share in yours! What a blessing! I often think of that song we learned in Sunday School: 'Count your many blessings.' I love the way you have recounted yours.

Hi dear Jackie, Good point you have made. We are not all spared and not all the time. God often allows pain and loss into our lives - times when we don't understand. That's when Faith must kick in and our trust in God's love and righteousness gets us through the hard time.

I could write a series on the times I felt I needed a miracle but the Father withheld it to test my faith - to teach me a deeper truth about HIm or to teach me to cling to Him in the midst of the storm.

We are all pilgrims here on this earth - we are being fit for Heaven. We are many times engaged in battle against the enemy of our soul. We get wounded and touched by the sin all around us.

Thank you for bringing up this very important point. It is true and we do know we will understand it all one day.

      Hugs and Thanks!

Hi Sweet Faith, Yes it's time to get those stories out of my head and onto the page. God's amazing love and incredible protection is seen in so many ways - Miracles abound.

In this series I started out with a hub called Miracles but soon found I could not fit it into one hub. It's so important to count our blessings and remember all God has done for us.

Thanks sweet friend for your blessings - Happy Mother's Day!

Thank you, Dear Mekenzie, for sharing your amazing true accounts of God's protection! He is sweet like that you know. There can be no other reason but that our sweet Lord sent His angels to surround you and your family in His loving arms of protection. I, too, have experienced such protection from God and I believe it is so important that we share these true accounts of His great love and protection, even during those times when we may not "see" His protection and love, we can trust Him that He is always there and claim His promise that He will never forsake us or leave us.

So lovely to see you writing again to His glory.

Voted up and across but funny, pinning, tweeting and sharing

God bless you and your beautiful family always.
