Morning Coffee with Jesus - December 23, 2009

Updated on December 23, 2009

 Greetings loved ones!

I took the pleasure of sleeping in this morning so "Morning Coffee with Jesus" is a little cold. (hee hee).  Still, it is here and STILL delicious, cold or not.

“Morning Coffee with Jesus” today comes from Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

I remember years ago during a regular medical exam my doc found a cyst.  He removed it and sent it to the lab for testing.  My doc said he would let me know immediately of the results. I carried the torment of "what if" around in my heart for the remainder of that day.  Finally, the next morning during prayer I turned it over to God.  His response was clear. "If you fear, fear only for a moment, for I will sustain you." Immediately I felt that "peace which transcends all understanding" wash over me and the peace, which ruled my heart, left a deep-seated joy there too.

What is the “fullness of joy” but peace? Joy is tumultuous only when it is not full; but peace is the privilege of those who know Christ.  "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on the Lord, because he trusts in Him."  It is peace, springing from trust then overflowing in love towards all around us that has the capacity to change lives.

If we believe that God is watchful over our lives (and I do believe that – I hope you do too!) then we must rest in knowing that God understands how anxious we are about particular situations.  God knows that I long to fix up my house and that I would like to travel.  God knows everything about every dream you have ever uttered.  However, God also knows something you do not - how He is going to work out your situation, as it exists today.  That is where your trust of Him comes into play.  Being at new and somewhat uncomfortable places in our lives means that we need to, rather, CHOOSE TO trust Him.

What is the alternative?

As you walk with Jesus today and every other "today" after today, remember that though you walk, you are not alone.  Commit it all to prayer, fear, if you must, but only for a moment, and then remember that God will sustain you.  As long as there are people who love you, you have a precious gift and that love gives out of the abundance of the heart always and with joy.

Have an awesome day in Jesus!  Go MAD in someone’s life today!

Stay sweet,
stay broken,
and stay His!

Wonderful hub. My friend from Bristol had a spot on his lung and after 30 days of prayer the next xray no spot could be detected. God does hear and answer prayer. Great hub.
