Morning Coffee with Jesus - December 29, 2009

Updated on December 29, 2009

Greetings loved ones!

Today's "Morning Coffee with Jesus" comes from Jeremiah 10:23. "I know Lord, that a man's life is not his own. It is not for man to direct his steps."

In my collection of Civil War-era things is a hardcover book “Home Life” which was called a “magazine” published from just after the Civil War up to the early 1900’s. It is a wonderful documentary of life in the latter part of the 19th century and early 20th century.

Home Life is a collection of poetry, prose, household tips, fashion updates, Bible verses, and recipes. One of the stories includes the following passages, "There had been solemn appointed seasons in Anna's life when she was accustomed to enter upon a full and deliberate survey of her business in this world. The claims of each relationship, and the results of each occupation, were then examined in the light of eternity. It was then, too, her fervent prayer to be enabled to discern the will of God for more perfectly, not only in the indications given of it for her guidance through each day's occupations, but as it might concern duties not yet brought home to her conscience, and therefore unprovided for in her life."

In this passage, we read about a person by the name of Anna - fictional character or not, Anna is a woman of faith who is seeking a deeper life in Christ and so she examines her relationships and all she does in light of eternity. Will it have an impact for God's kingdom?

She prays fervently that she can have greater discernment regarding God's will for her life. She prays that what she does will have an impact for the kingdom of God and she prays for her future too, that though there are things of yet she is unaware, that she will have God's guidance as she goes through life today and through future events, also.

As you go about your daily life, think about what you do in light of eternity. Are what you're doing, your attitude, and your actions, having an impact on your eternity or someone else's eternity - positive or negative? Do you hold up all that you think, do, and say and examine it by Eternity's light? Even though the road may be bumpy right now and you are being tossed to and fro, God has allowed this for your growth, and ultimately for your benefit. So hold up your life and your actions in light of eternity and remember, God has not forgotten you so be encouraged!

“Morning Coffee with Jesus” will be on hiatus for the remainder of the week but we’ll have more “Morning Coffee with Jesus” beginning on Monday, January 4th. Have a happy New Year! See you in 2010!

Have an awesome day in Jesus! Go MAD in someone’s life today.

Stay sweet,
stay broken,
stay His!
