Morning Coffee with Jesus - December 4, 2009

Updated on December 3, 2009

Hello loved ones!  Welcome to “Morning Coffee with Jesus.”

Our verse today is found in Mark 12:33.  “The religion scholar said, "A wonderful answer, Teacher! So lucid and accurate—that God is one and there is no other. And loving him with all passion and intelligence and energy, and loving others as well as you love yourself. Why, that's better than all offerings and sacrifices put together!" (The Message)

Yet again, more Hollywood drama.  Tiger Woods’ issues with extramarital affairs has captured the headlines.  Then, enter Meredith Baxter-Birney, a Hollywood actress who has come “out” and announced to the world that she is gay.

While much discussion regarding these two people is no doubt occurring around water coolers and coffee pots in corporate America, as Christians we need to be careful about judging others.

Very often, Christians take the wrong position when it comes to situations such as these.  Very often Christians stand by throw the first stone and fail miserably at showing the love of God.  We have no right to judge another person – we are not in the middle of either of those situations mentioned above and therefore need to leave judgment up to God.

God calls us to love at all times. Sometimes the greatest way to show love to someone is to keep our mouths shut when it would be a perfect opportunity to criticize and condemn.  Often times, the most powerful apologetic we can offer is silence.

Today, if asked for comments regarding either of the two stories mentioned above, remain focused on loving those people in a godly way.  Love the sinner, hate the sin.  We all are sinners in need of God’s grace and it doesn’t matter what your name is.  Just don’t let the distractions of the world succeed in taking your eyes off Jesus!

Have an awesome day in Jesus. Go MAD in someone’s life today.

Stay sweet,
stay broken,
stay His!

Blessings,
E.

Very, very well said. Thank you.

This was an especially good thought: "Christians take the wrong position when it comes to situations such as these. Very often Christians stand by throw the first stone and fail miserably at showing the love of God. We have no right to judge another person – we are not in the middle of either of those situations mentioned above and therefore need to leave judgment up to God."

Good stuff. Keep sharing it. And be encouraged.
