Morning Coffee with Jesus - February 23, 2010
Hello loved ones.
Today’s “Morning Coffee with Jesus” comes from Colossians 3:23-24. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (NIV)
Several years ago on my way into Philadelphia, I passed a business that had a sign on the front lawn. The sign read, “Let passion power you.”
Passion that empowers is life changing. I think about those who are passionate about what they do (or did). Billy Graham, Jackie Robinson, George Washington, Mark Twain, Fredrick Douglas – all of these individuals came from different walks of life and had very different passions but it was passion that motivated them to become driving forces in their respective occupations or causes.
Passion that powers you also empowers. If your passion is genuine others will know it and the sparks that fly from you will ignite others interest along the way. That’s how it was with Jesus. He was passionate about doing His Father’s will, showing mercy to the poor, healing broken hearts, broken bodies, and broken lives. His passion empowered Him to endure trials of all kinds including a flogging that nearly killed him. But the passion didn’t end there. It continued beyond crucifixion to resurrection and His passion can be found today in the hearts and souls of every believer who calls Him “Savior.”
Where do your passions lay? In the gain of all things material? Are you motivated to get up each day because of what material things you can gain from the world? I’d bet that the majority (if not all) of you say “no way!” Focus on the non-tangibles for which you have passion; kindness, encouragement, teaching, history, counseling and use those passions to further the kingdom of God. You are working for a greater Authority, not only the one who hands you a paycheck. Let passion empower you and you will find that the power to meet others’ needs comes without effort!
Make it a GREAT day in Jesus! Go MAD in someone’s life today!
Stay sweet
Stay broken
Stay His!
Blessings,
E.
