Morning Coffee with Jesus - January 4, 2010

Updated on January 4, 2010

 Greetings loved ones!

Welcome to a new decade and a new month of “Morning Coffee with Jesus!”

Today’s “Morning Coffee with Jesus” comes from Matthew 24:36.  No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Wasn’t it just recently that companies were talking about Y2K and the supposed “crash” of all things computerized?  How many of us can remember sitting in meetings discussing how we were going to handle whatever scenario unfolded after the stroke of midnight on January 1, 2000?

Countless hours and thousands of dollars were spent in preparation for whatever the outcome after the stroke of midnight on January 1, 2000.  The company for whom I worked at the time required a member of our Information Technology (IT) department to be on site from 10:00 pm December 31, 1999 until 2:00 am January 1, 2000 to ensure a smooth transition from one century to the next.

The new century was ushered in with little, if any, disruption to any computerized equipment across the globe.  Now, a recent theory that the world will end in 2012 has emerged and is causing people to cease long-range planning, stop buying houses, and forget a career path.  The reason for this misconception is that the Mayan calendar stops in 2012 churning up all sorts of religious, scientific, astrological and historic reasons why this calendar foretells the end of life, as we know it.

The above scripture assures us that the end of the age is unknown by everyone except our Father in heaven.  When He spoke these words, not even Jesus knew the day or the hour of His return to earth.  However, we are told to continue life as usual, sharing the gospel with those with whom we come in contact and being a light in a dark world.

Today, irrespective of your end time’s viewpoint, recognize that Jesus’ return to earth could happen this afternoon.  If you knew Jesus was to return to earth tomorrow at 7:45 am, would that change your relationships with others?  Would it change how you handle your finances?  Why not begin living TODAY as though Jesus were returning tomorrow?  It could very well happen!  Forget about petty differences and make an impact where God has planted you.  The life and attitude you change may be your own!

Have an awesome Monday in Jesus!  Go MAD in someone’s life today.

Stay sweet,
stay broken,
and stay His!
