Morning Coffee with Jesus - January 8, 2010
Greetings loved ones!
Today’s “Morning Coffee with Jesus” comes from 2Chronicles 31:21 "In everything that he (Hezekiah) undertook in the service of God's temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered."
God is a kind Father. He sets us in all the places where He wants us to be employed (not only the workplace!); and that employment is truly 'our Father's business.' He chooses work for every creature that will be delightful to them, if they do it simply and humbly. He always gives us strength and sense enough, for what He wants us to do; if we tire ourselves out or stress ourselves out it is our own fault. And we can always be sure, whatever we are doing, that we cannot be pleasing to Him if we are not happy ourselves.
I think about this in light of my past employment. I made the decision to take the job rather than asking God to direct me. I knew (and God knew too) that by about 6 weeks into the job, I had made a hasty decision and it was a declining situation until the day of my lay off. God knew that I was not happy and as such HE was not pleased with it either. I am sure there were many times that I grieved the Holy Spirit when I was SO frustrated that I turned that frustration inward and it became stress, leading to an ulcer.
We cannot ever worry about what work it is that God has for us. Whether our vocation or ministry, God will make it clear if we are willing to be patient and wait for Him to lead us. That work IS out there! You need to prayerfully go and find it – emphasis on “prayerfully.”
God’s desire is that you are happy in every aspect of your life; your work, your home, your finances, your relationships, etc. Don't stop believing that you have great wealth within. But, also remember, GOD chooses work for every creature which will be delightful to him. If your current work is not delightful to you, it isn’t the right work. Take it to the Lord in prayer and allow Him to lead you and guide you, especially in these tough economic times.
Right now you may not know what it is that is the right work for you. Don't let dollar signs or visibility in ministry (or lack thereof) attract you or detract you from the work that God has for you. If God puts you in a job or a ministry that is the right one for you, He'll make sure the compensation is there or the visibility or lack of visibility is there. He knows our needs! What an awesome Daddy we serve!
Have an incredible weekend in Jesus! I’ll see you back here on Monday for more “Morning Coffee with Jesus!” Go MAD in someone’s life this weekend!
