Morning Coffee with Jesus - September 30, 2011

Updated on September 29, 2011

Greetings loved ones.Welcome to “Morning Coffee with Jesus.”

Today’s “Morning Coffee with Jesus” comes from John 6:53.“Jesus said to them, ‘I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.’”

I received a call one Friday afternoon a few years ago. There was an urgent need for O Negative blood at the blood center and since I am of that blood type, the blood center asked me to donate. The needed blood was for a specific patient, a baby.I nearly dropped the phone when I heard the request. How could I NOT donate?

Donating blood is an extremely easy and practically painless process. It takes about 45 minutes from start to finish. Within a few days of the phone call I was off to the blood center to give a pint of life-saving blood to one who so badly needs what I choose to give.

Since that time I have donated regularly every 8 weeks or so. I am still considered a "baby donor" and I found out that one pint of my blood serves 3 babies in the hospital. In my blood, there is life for three little ones who are ill and/or dying. My blood will help to promote healing and make those little tykes well.

My blood will bring together unknown individuals (even though, this side of Heaven I may never know that individual) through a very precious link. The recipients and I will be “blood related!”

The same is true of Jesus’ blood.Jesus willingly and gladly donated His blood.Through His blood, when once we were seriously “ill” and dead in our sin, we now have life.Jesus’ blood promotes healing and restoration. As a recipient of His blood donation, we are “kin.”Talk about family in “high places!”But the best news of all is that I can know, in a very personal way, the One who donated His blood to save me.I thank Him every day for doing so and don’t take His blood donation for granted.

Today, think about the ultimate blood donation YOU received.Consider the One who gave His blood to make you well.If you are able, donate your blood to save another. The opportunity to share Christ with the staff who attends you is HUGE!Don’t pass up the opportunity.I have an appointment to donate on Saturday morning. You can bet I'll take advantage of that appointment!

Have an awesome weekend in Jesus!
Stay sweet,
Stay broken,
Stay His.

This was so inspiring to read. You never think about children when donating blood. You always just assume it's probably just going to someone who will probably be okay without it anyway...come monday morning I'm going to donate. Great article.
