Mountains and Molehills

Updated on January 12, 2018

Introduction

Yom Hamishi sameach!! Happy Sixth Day!! It’s a good day to be alive, even if it is a bit on the cold side. And, that’s okay. When it’s cold outside, that just means you can snuggle up with the ones you love, have a cup of Joe, or hot chocolate, maybe a bowl of popcorn, and enjoy the company of hearth and home. And, since, today is Preparation Day, that means tomorrow is Shabbat, our day to rest our weary bones and souls from the chaos of the world. We can reboot and refocus on all that’s important for us and to us … including getting closer to YeHoVaH as we rest in the grace He gives through Yeshua ha-Meshiach.

Be still and know that I am Elohim.

This week, and last week, and for several weeks to follow, the kids and me and Mark are going through the book of Shemot (Exodus). In fact, last week’s parashat was Parashat Shemot, and this week is Parashat Va’eira; but, no matter how you read it, the fact and truth of the matter is that YeHoVaH worked some mighty miracles with His “outstretched arm” (Shemot 6:6), and this gives echo to Yeshua’s outstretched arm as He gave of Himself on the cross for us. Though I am moving ahead to the Sea of Reeds (Red Sea) with this devotion, we have not yet reached the Sea of Reeds in our Shemot reading.

How many of us are staring at an abysmal Sea of Reeds while the approaching enemy is closing in? I have to be honest with you, I was in this exact spot several days ago and several times this week. You know the place I mean … the place that seems helpless and hopeless. The place where the enemy crouches and whispers to us that we are defeated. The place where the obstacles loom larger than the mountains, though they only be molehills. The place where we begin to question YeHoVaH. The place where we want to give up and turn around to go back where we once were.

But YeHoVaH …

YeHoVaH knows our situation, He knows where we are and what we are facing. YeHoVaH offers help and hope. He stands before us so we can focus on Him and listen to His voice, not the voice of a cheating, conniving, lying enemy. YeHoVaH urges us to keep the faith so that we can step over those mountains and crush them like molehills. YeHoVaH has every answer for every question, and we never have to give up or go back.

And, in those times, when we find it hard to truly trust and obey, YeHoVaH speaks His promise over us; “Be still, and know that I am Elohim; I am exalted among nations, I am exalted in the earth! YeHoVaH of hosts is with us; The Elohim of Ya’aqov is our refuge. Selah.” (Tehillim (Psalms) 46:10-11).

“Be still, and know that I am Elohim.”

“Be still, and know that I am.”

“Be still, and know.”

“Be still.”

“Be.”

Be still and know that YeHoVaH knows your situation.

Be still and know that YeHoVaH knows where you are and what you are facing.

Be still and know that YeHoVaH offers you help and hope.

Be still and know that YeHoVaH stands before you so you can focus on Him and

listen to HIs voice, not the voice of a cheating, conniving, lying enemy.

Be still and know that YeHoVaH urges you to keep the faith so that you can step

over those mountains and crush them like molehills.

Be still and know that YeHoVaH has every answer for every question.

Be still and know that YeHoVaH will produce a forward movement in you instead of you giving up and going back.
