Rosemary Brown - The True Story of the Amazing Ghostly Composers
When Mrs Rosemary Brown saw the appearance of Igor Stravinsky standing in front of her, 14 months after his death, she was not surprised. Why? Because he was only one of 20 dead composers who had visited her to use her extraordinary talent. Rosemary is one of the most famous Psychic Mediums of her time. Composing music with the help of the Spirit World.
When Rosemary was only 7 years old she was introduced to the world of ghostly Musicians. A Spirit with long white hair and a flowing black cassock appeared, and told her he was a composer, and would help her become a famous musician one day. At this stage, Rosemary didn't realise who he was, it wasn't until ten years later did she realise that she had seen the ghost of Franz List.
Rosemary’s mother and grandmother were psychic, and she displayed signs of psychic power when she was a child. The first example was that she told her parents about things that had happened to them before she was born. When asked how she knew, she said that the visitors had told her.
Liszt did not appear to her until 1964 by which time Rosemary had married and brought up two children. The family lived in a Victorian terraced house in Balham South London. And by this time, Rosemary was a middle aged widow.
Before 1964 she had little interest in music and had minimal instruction in it. She only had a second hand piano and had taken a few lessons over a year. According to another parishioner, Rosemary was useless at playing and struggled to play the simplest hymn. This was later disputed by investigators, but nobody came forward to say that she had indeed had many more lessons. But still the suspicion continued throughout her life.
Magical Music From The Immortals
When Liszt renewed contact with her, much to everyone’s amazement, Rosemary started to write down all the music sent her by the Composers. Liszt was sending her his original compositions, along with Beethoven, Bach, Chopin. Shubert and Rachmaninov.
For the woman who had absolutely no understanding of music, these beautiful pieces seem to come out of midair. Or through the ghostly ether.
This included a 40 page Schubert sonata, a Fantaisie Impromptu in three movements by Chopin, 12 songs by Shubert again, and two sonatas by Beethoven.
Each composer had his own way of dictating to Rosemary. Liszt controlled her hands as she wrote down the notes, others pushed her hands onto the right keys.
According to Rosemary, Schubert tried singing, but he had a terrible voice, and Beethoven and Bach simply dictated the notes, which Rosemary complained about as she said she had no idea what the end product would sound like!
All the composers spoke to her in English which she said doesn't surprise her, as she firmly believes they all went on to learn more in their ghostly state. She did, however state that when they get annoyed or disturbed in anyway, they would revert back to their own language. Beethoven would exclaim, 'Mein Gott!' Whenever the doorbell rang and they were hard at work!
Rosemary described the composers in detail, in fact she said they could be very funny. Beethoven, now he wasn’t deaf, was quite pleasant! Debussy wore strange clothes, and would have been a great hippy! And Chopin kept screaming something in French. It was only later that she realised he was telling her the bathtub was flooding!

What The Critics Say
Most of the musical critics of the time agreed that Rosemary’s transcriptions were much in the style of the great composers. Some said they were forgeries but couldn't explain how on earth she did it. Everyone was aware of her lack of musical knowledge.
The whole of the music community had no idea what was going on. She was thoroughly investigated, by both musicians and psychologists. And not one of them could find any evidence of her cheating. In fact after meeting her, they were all convinced of her innocence.
Maurice Barbanell, editor of the London based Psychic News said at the time, ‘She appears to be a medium who is both clairvoyant and clairaudient. Many hundreds of mediums claim to have done this, the only difference is that Rosemary talks to famous Composers’.
Other explanations were that the Composers had left behind music when they died, and Rosemary was somehow ‘psychically’ picking them up, which is rather bizarre in itself!

Hephzibah Menuhin, the concert pianist and sister of Yehudi, was also very impressed. She said when interviewed, ‘There is no question but that she is a very sincere woman. The music is absolutely in the style of these composers’
Alan Rich, a music critic of New York magazine stated that after hearing some of the work in question he decided that they were just substandard reworkings of some of their better known pieces.
However it turned out that what he had been listening too was in fact only the simpler pieces. There were other compositions that were much more subtle and complex.
Paranormal Voice Of Chopin
Over the following years, Rosemary told the media that she had been visited by such ghosts as Shakespeare, Van Gogh and St. Paul purely to prove the existence of the Afterlife. She went on to write three books of her channelling and made a number of recordings.
She died on November the 16th 2001 at the age of 85. She took with her the secrets of her Spirit Music, and her friendship with her Ghostly Great Composers..
