In All it's Glory!

My boyfriend (Mike) and I went to the "Second Look Book Store" yesterday where I found my first personal bible. Mike knew I was a little down and feeling rather glum; so he announced to me that he was taking me out on a bible hunt! He told me he wanted to buy me a bible of my very own; when I heard this I lit right up. I was ready in a blink of an eye; I flew out the door in a mad rush jumping into Mike's truck all pumped up and ready to go! In my confusion I didn't take time to try and figure out what type of bible I was looking for or what type would suit my personal needs best. Well my mind was in a tizzy trying to figure out the ins and outs of purchasing my bible. This was the first time that either (Mike) or myself had ever purchased a bible; both wet behind the ears in what to look for when buying a personal bible.

Assortment of Bibles

When we finally arrived at the bookstore I was confused and overwhelmed by the large assortment of books that surrounded us with aisles upon aisles of books. Which way or where do we start our bible hunt. Since we had no idea where the bibles were we asked a store clerk for some guidance. He was most helpful in fact he escorted us personally right to the shelves that housed the bibles. He told us if we had any more questions he would be more than happy to help us and with that he left us alone standing before the assortment of bibles. They were in many colors and sizes, some looking more worn than others. I started to pick my way through the bibles- some felt too heavy, while the print was too small in others then their was others that looked about the right size but I didn't like the color. But then all of a sudden there it was in all it's glory! I knew it was the one as soon as I lay eyes on it, I had found my special bible! I felt this before I had even opened it's pages. It is a beautiful leather-bound bible called "Gods Word Translation" it is written in easy to read English. When I flipped through it's pages they were like brand new; it looks like it has never been read judging by the condition it was in. I told Mike that this was the one and that I had no need to look further because in my heart I knew I had found my bible.

Bible Tucked Under My Arm

The man that had helped us earlier had a look through it and gave his thumbs up stating that it was well worded and written. He too also believed that it was most likely never read; he mentioned that it would cost at least $50.00 new, Mike payed $30.00 for my bible. I thanked the man for his help, then I turned to Mike and gave him a big hug and thank you for my lovely bible. I then proceeded to walk out the book store with my bible tucked under one arm and my other arm intertwined with Mike's arm. When we arrived home I filled in a page in the front of my bible where it has a line for who presented bible, who received it, and when. I filled this out proudly with Mike Ringleben being the presentor and I (Pam Kinney) being the receiver on Feb 16/2013.

This was a very special day in my life that I will hold close and dear to my heart for the rest of my days. I never thought buying a book would have such an emotional impact on me but then again this was no ordinary book. I feel so grateful to Mike for getting me my very own bible; he knew this would put a smile on my face. This was such a thoughtful act on Mike's part; I am truly blessed to have people like Mike in my life that truly love and care for me. When I went to bed that night I started to read my bible right from the beginning (Genesis); I could not think of a better way to end my day Amen!
