My 'Never Again' List

Updated on July 20, 2020

Rev. Margaret Minnicks is an ordained Bible teacher. She writes many articles that are Bible lessons.

As I look back over my time on this earth, I realize I have done some things that were wrong. I have made mistakes. I have made wrong choices. I have thought wrong thoughts. I have said some wrong things.

As I go into another chapter of my life, I affirm that there are some things that I will never do again.

Things I Will Never Again Say

Never again will I say I lack something. That's because "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want" (Psalm 23:1). "My Father has cattle on a thousand hills" (Psalm 50:10). Also, "My God shall supply all of my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).

New again will I say I lack wisdom because "Christ Jesus is made unto me wisdom from God" (1 Corinthians 1:30).

Never again will I say I am a failure. "I am more than a conqueror through Him that loves me" (Romans 8:37).

Never again will I say I am defeated because "God always causes me to triumph in Christ Jesus" (2 Corinthians 2:14)

Emotions I Will Never Again Have

Never again will I fear. "God has not given me the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7).

Never again will I give way to worries. Instead, I will cast all my cares upon Him who careth for me (1 Peter 5:7). After all, it is God who cares for me. Therefore, I can be carefree.

Never again will I experience frustrations, for "Thou will keep me in perfect peace because my mind is stayed on thee" (Isaiah 26:3).

Never again will I feel lonely. I will remember that Jesus said, "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20) and "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5).

Never again will I think I am condemned. I am free from condemnation based on Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those which are in Christ Jesus."

Never again will I confess discontent. "I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therefore to be content" (Philippians 4:11).

Never again will I embrace confusion because "God is not the author of confusion, but of peace" (1 Corinthians 4:33) and "I have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God that I might know the things that are freely given to me of God" (1 Corinthians 2:12)

Never again will I fear my future. The Bible assures me that "Eye hath not seen or ear heard, neither hath entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him, but God hath revealed them unto us by His spirit" (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).

Things I Will Never Believe Again About Myself

Never again will I believe I can't. That's because "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

Never again will I believe being meek is a bad thing because Jesus said in His Sermon on the Mount that "Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth" (Matthew 5:5).

Never again will I deny that I am weak. "The Lord is the strength of my life" (Psalm 27:1). God's power works best in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Never again will I think I am unworthy. I was "created in the image of God" (Genesis 1:27). I am "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14). I am "the apple of God's eye" (Psalm 17:8).

Never again will I think being insecure should be my lifestyle. God has promised me that "When I lie down, I should not be afraid and my sleep shall be sweet for the Lord shall be my confidence" (Proverbs 3:24-26).

Things I Will Never Again Accept

Never again will I accept other people's control over my life. "Greater is He that is within me than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

Never again will I fear persecution. "No weapon that is formed again me shall prosper" (Isaiah 54:17). Besides, "If God is for me, who can be against me?" (Romans 8:37).

Never again will I think I can't get well. "With His stripes, I am healed" (Isaiah 53:5) and Jesus Himself took on my infirmities and bore my sickness" (Matthew 8:17).

Never again will I live in bondage. "Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." (2 Corinthians 3:17).

Never again will I think tribulations will get me down. Jesus said, "In the world, ye shall have tribulation: be of good cheer: I have overcome the world (John 16:33).

Never again will I want to give up. God commands me "not to be weary in well doing: for in due season I shall reap if I faint not" (Galatians 6:9).

Never again will I stop working in the Kingdom of God. "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58).
