New Tarot Spread:" How to Build a Family?"
The Origin of the Word Family
The word family comes from the Latin word “familia”, which refers to everyone that lives under the one roof. This includes all the servants and all of the animals.
What is a Family and What Kinds Are There?
An ideal family unit is where there is a mother and a father together with an extended family (children, siblings, aunts, grandparents, cousins etc) that are DNA related.
A Family can be blood related or a circle of people that share common values, common goals and pull their weight in creating a healthy tribe/family.
In most societies, the clan, the tribe, the family is the main body for developing children to become constructive participants in society. But as stated earlier, there are now a greater representation of unmarried couples bringing up children; gay and lesbian couples raising children; single women having children with no male partners; groups of people living together under one roof; and more women choosing not to have children nor be partnered.
6 Reasons Why Family is Important to Have?
Family is still important to us because:-
1. Family Loves and Understands You
To be emotionally and mentally healthy together with being at ease in your life, humans need closeness and attachments; understanding; and feeling that you belong to someone or something.
Healthy families provide us with fun, too.
Humans are herd animals.
Humans cannot live on their own all the time. Some of the time but not all of the time.
It is normal to want others to support you and love you.
Say, your partner dies in a car accident or your employer fires you, your healthy family will remind you of your worth and take you under their wing.
Humans have a fear of being alone.
A healthy family guarantees you safety and security.
3.Protection from External Forces
If the family is healthy, a strong character can develop in a child for many years into the future and will make them stand firm against deviant influences.
4. You Can Bring Up a Child
The village of loved ones make life manageable when striving to raise a happy and healthy child. Here, you can depend on the family to step in and care for the child if you have to go away or become ill for a period.
5. A Family Supports the Decision-Making Process
Having strong family values makes it easy to make critical decisions when they arise.
6.A Family Can Enable You to become a Constructive Member of Society.
If your family is healthy for you, it can shape you to become a good citizen for your town, city, country or global home.

The tarot deck used here is the” The Wisdom Seekers Tarot” by David Fontana. It is a deck used for growth and self-awareness. (Copyright Watkins Media Limited 2008, 2017. Text Copyright David Fontana 2008, 2017)
Card 1-What main value will keep our tribe/ family bonded? -5 Wands
This tribe’s main value is about tolerating and accepting differences. It could from time to time involve turning a blind eye to certain beliefs and attitudes here and there; and/or defending one’s own beliefs or attitudes.
The individual beliefs or attitudes can cause battles between family members when the basic survival needs are not being met. Like, not enough money to cover household bills. Or, being too single minded and not taking into account other family members feelings or concerns.
Card 2-What is our tribe’s/family’s definition of what love looks like? -8 Pentacles
Firstly, I would like to say that people recognize love or a loving action in different ways.
Some people feel loved when you lavish them with beautiful gifts. Some people feel loved when you say “I love you” throughout the day. Others feel loved when you do acts of service for them etcetera.
With 8 Pentacles here, love is recognized when family members adopt a give and take approach when there are new partners, step parents or the adoption of a child.
Love is recognized when you take pride in your appearance.
The presence of the number 8 reflects a symmetrical form which to me reflects the tribe’s need for harmony; and for the tribe members in being genuine.
Card 3-How do we recognise as a tribe/family when we can trust another? -8 Cups
Again, the number 8 is present and to me, this signals a need for balanced actions together with a harmonious approach amongst the family members.
There is nurturing but it does come at a cost. Affection is given when action is channelled constructively. This is reflected in the orderly presentation of the 8 cups on the shelves within the tarot card.
The tribe, the family recognizes the presence of love when emotional courage is shown.
Card 4-What is the main skill are we learning to master as a tribe/family? -4 Swords
When I turn the card around the rows of trees looked like a skeletal jaw with prominent chewing teeth. To me that says, gossip, innuendos and rumours can spring from this tribe’s/family’s mouths and become weaponized artillery.
The two swords that pierce the jaw and mouth, hold a piercing blue jewel. I feel these family members tend to feel envious and jealous of each other if you stand too tall. If you stand out you will be sent the evil eye through dark thoughts and/or negating words.
The way forward here, is held in the clouds on this card.
That is the message is to reflect on the past and present, correct, then move into the future again. These family members will be able to overcome their envy and jealousy if they adopt a more holistic or spiritual point of view.
Card 5-How do we as a tribe/family contribute to the violence in the world? -Temperance (Rx)
The tribe/family here, contribute to violence in the world when they adopt the Scorpionic way of being too controlling and jealous. Wanting to have it all their way or the highway.
They need to learn to change in a more safe and constructive way rather through destructive ways when entering and exiting the life cycles we go through in our lifetime
Card 6-How do we as a tribe/family to the joy in the world? -The Emperor
The Emperor tarot card here says to me this family/tribe will give joy to the world when they take measured or controlled approaches to situations.
Joy is also offered to the world by this tribe when they rely on their own individuality, generating Willpower and becoming more physically and emotionally resilient.
They also need to watch they don’t become too egotistical and over controlling.
The Emperor wears his crown on a soft hat which says to me that when they use their Will in compassionate ways, they will contribute joy to the world.
Their joy also comes through the expression of their dynamism and imagination.
(card 7-if you want extra awareness/this reveals the outcome of the tarot spread-The Tower, is the card here for this spread)
The pay-off for this tribe /family will be receiving “awakenings”. That is having, epiphanies, where unexpected truths will be revealed about life, people and situations.
Overall, what is important to this tribe is being a true friend, being affectionate and tolerant of one’s and others whims and foibles.
Friendships will endure tests.
They are empathetic and have a sense of justice. Always willing to help someone in need.
They will need to resolve more of their baser desires around sexual energies, appetites together with building up a sense of value and how best to apply it constructively/empathetically in life.
Thank you for stopping by. I would love it if you were to try out this tarot spread and place a comment on how it worked for you.
