Name That Seed!
There's A Seed For Every Need!
The following article by The Fount contains excerpts from Kenneth Copeland’s teachings of God’s Word on the Believer’s Voice Of Victory Broadcast which aired 11/27/09. Rev. David J. Dill is a partner of Kenneth Copeland Ministries.
Name That Seed!
God created the heavens and the earth by saying “Let there be….” and the next thing we read in Genesis 1, “and there was….” From His unique form of glory, God created the material world and entire universe from words that He spoke. Up until that time, matter did not exist until God spoke it into existence. This is the creative power of His spoken Word!
When God said Let there be Light in Genesis 1:3 – we know that light was not sunshine, for the sun was not created until the fourth day in Gen. 1:14. So what was that ‘light’? Again, from His own unique glory, God released His own Light energy which is in every living thing. God’s Light energy exists at the core of every living cell in this material world.
In the process of creating this material world, God planted all the plants Man would ever need before Man himself would arrive:
Gen. 2:5 “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.”
Gen. 2:8 “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.”
Based on these verses, we know that the plants God planted here on earth came from His own dwelling place: heaven.
By God creating us in His image and likeness (Gen. 1:26-27), God spoke words of life and dominion into mankind, and God created Man with this same glory – that same light energy. This refers to the spirit of man, not just his flesh which was created from the dust of the ground (Gen. 2:7). Man’s spirit came directly from the inside of God who “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.”
Man became a living speaking spirit in God’s image, but the power to create is not in Man in and of himself the way the Devil wants us to believe. God blessed mankind by giving us the exact same power to create things supernaturally by speaking the same words that God speaks.
As we move on in this lesson, this is highly important to know because in Mark 11:22-24 Jesus taught that based on the belief we hold in our heart, in the material world we shall have whatever we say – literally.
This unique ability is a result of the Eden blessing; the Eden covenant of God between heaven and mankind. The very same power with which God created man, the universe, all the animals and every plant in this earth, He put that same power on Man, and God intended for mankind to continue expanding the Garden of Eden outward to replenish the entire earth by speaking the same Word of God!
Kenneth Copeland asked the question: “And who knows what else He had planned after that?” and said, “This planet should have been the garden spot of the universe! The Garden of Eden should have been the worst condition that man would ever experience. God didn’t start this world out with His best, God started this planet out with seed from the beginning. This should have been greater, more stunning and outstanding, far more than any man could ever imagine or ever dream. Never it entered into the eyes, ears or heart of man what God has in store throughout the ages to come – that’s the blessing that’s on us!”
Pastor Copeland went on to say that this blessing that is still on us allows us to grow heavenly seeds right now, and that our bibles are not just books, but we have a lap full of heavenly seeds! He said, “I learned this from Bishop Butler: “A seed will meet any need!” Amen. This is what’s so wonderful about sowing things, particularly money. You can find this principle throughout the Bible, and when we know how to use money properly, money can be an outstanding tool to have not just financial needs met, but ANY need!
He went on to say that money itself is not a living thing and has no real value until it’s turned into goods and services. By itself, money has no value unless one applies fear or faith to it. For example, if money becomes one’s security, god, or backup, if one takes on the attitude “well I don’t want to spend my money, I might need that later” (this is not a teaching against the wise practice of saving an emergency fund or planning for retirement) – if the motivation is fear of lack or fear of the future, that money now has a value assigned to it by fear and not faith.
Once fear is used to assign a value to money, that money is of no use to the holder. Like the unfaithful steward who hid his Lord’s money in the ground instead of investing it to make it grow – that money is like seed in a bag that never gets planted to reap a mighty harvest.
The true value of money is to assign value to it with faith by using it wisely in exchange for goods and services. One should not live their life in fear as if no more money will come their way ever again. Unfortunately, even though it’s well known that ministries need money to operate, some ‘Believers’ still take on this fearful and ungrateful attitude when it comes to sowing financial seeds into the kingdom of God at offering time.
The Lord Jesus taught “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matt. 6:33″ God promised to add the things we need if we make His kingdom our number one priority. So let’s consider how to do that by looking at the real purpose of money:
“Give, and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38″
What is the “it” in this verse referring to? Whatever you need! If you need money, plant money into the kingdom of God by donating to a ministry to help that ministry fulfill it’s God-given assignment to serve the poor and evangelize the world.
Plant your financial gift into the kingdom of God like a seed so that it can bring back to you much more than you sowed – because as long as the earth remains, the universal principle of seed, time and harvest remains:
“While the earth remainteth, seedtime and harvest… shall not cease. Gen. 8:22”
The law of the harvest dictates that you reap the very thing that you sow, you reap later than you sow and like a single corn seed yields several ears of corn off a single stalk, you always reap more than you sowed. So how does this work exactly?
In essence, there are two parts to the seed. There is an outer husk which carries the life-giving portion of that seed. When a financial gift is sown into a ministry, the money serves as the husk of that seed, and it will meet the ministry’s specific material needs. And just like God has a wide variety of physical life-giving seeds to meet man’s physical needs in the form of plants, there is a wide variety of spiritual needs that man has as well which can and must be met with spiritual seeds. Spiritual seeds are God’s living words:
“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63″
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11”
In this parable (Luke 8:5-15), Jesus teaches that the Word of God is not just like seed, but is literal living seed.
Whatever the Believer’s need is, this is the name that must be assigned to that financial seed in order to give it spiritual life. Kenneth Copeland attributes the total success of his massive ministry to this very principle. When you assign a name to that financial seed, money becomes the physical carrier, the outer husk of the spiritual thing you are planting and expecting to come back to you in supernatural abundance.
Kenneth Copeland said, “Spending money just to spend it has it’s temporary pleasure, but when you’re obedient to God and you speak the Word of life over it, you take it in your hands, and commit it to God, use scripture on it, put the Word of God in that seed!”
As far as the giver is concerned, the power is not in the money itself. That money is a blessing to that ministry as it will be used in exchange for goods and services according to that ministry’s needs. The blessing of the Lord (empowerment to succeed) makes the giver rich only in the specific area that seed was assigned. The giver must assign a purpose to that seed according to the giver’s need, and then the giver must speak God’s Word (a corresponding scripture) into into that seed in a verbal prayer to God.
The believing giver assigns a purpose to that seed by naming it (name that seed the very thing you’re in need of: name it ‘money’, ‘healing’, ’so and so’s salvation,’ etc.) and put the Word of God in that seed by speaking a corresponding scripture over it.
Brother Copeland says if we fail to do these two vital things, we won’t have any spiritual life in that financial seed PERIOD! And this is why many of our financial offerings have gone up to God in vain! But he also says we can resurrect those dead offerings by asking God to remind us of them, and then follow these two steps the right way. Do this! It will be worth your while!
Again, here’s how it works: if you assign a specific name to that financial seed and speak the Word of life into it with a corresponding scripture in the same faith-filled manner that God spoke Words to make things come to pass, then because you were created in God’s image and likeness – the scriptures that you speak over that financial gift bring life to that seed and you as the sower will reap a supernatural harvest of whatever you named that seed to be!
Remember, the Word of God is incorruptible seed that will never die as long as you water it with praise and thanksgiving to God as if the thing you’re hoping for has already come to pass. And, that seed will not die or be rendered void as long as you don’t speak words of doubt or any words which counter (oppose) the results you wish to attain.
Keep a journal to track how God brings life to that seed every single time! Keep record of your offerings and watch the names you assign to each seed come to pass! A seed will meet any and every need! Praise God! If you are in need of healing, then bless your monetary offering by praying the healing scriptures over that offering and sow it into a ministry of God.
If you’re concerned about the salvation of a loved one, Kenneth Copeland went on to say “‘Oh God, save Uncle Fred!’ That’s not the way to get him saved! That’s not a scriptural prayer.” He’s right because Jesus taught us, if you’re going to spoil a strong man’s house, first bind him:
“Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Matt. 12:29″
According to Jesus, we have been given the ability to bind and loose, so we better use it:
“Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose (release) on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Matt. 18:18″
Mr. Copeland instructed us, if you’re going to get Uncle Fred saved, speak the words out loud: “You evil spirit operating in the life of Uncle Fred and keeping him out of the things of God, I bind you in Jesus’ name – now you cease and desist in all maneuvers against Uncle Fred now in Jesus’ name!”
Then, to help Uncle Fred be persuaded the right way, loose (release) some labourers into Uncle Fred’s life, for the Bible said to pray that the Lord of the harvest will send laborers into the field:
“Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. Matt. 9:38″
Mr. Copeland offered the following sample prayer: “Father, you know exactly who Uncle Fred will listen to, I pray you send laborers across his path with the Words of his salvation – Now I release my faith in this offering, and I’m sowing this in thanksgiving for Uncle Fred’s salvation, his healing and the baptism of the Holy Ghost and the master plan being revealed to him – Glory To God! Amen!”
And sow the financial seed with “Uncle Fred’s Salvation” labeled on it, and don’t cry over him ever again. Treat him like he’s saved, talked to him like he’s saved even when he’s cussing! Treat him like you know he is saved because God always fulfills His promises – You’ve got inside information!
Whatever the need is in your life, name that seed! “I call this seed HEALING for (whoever)”, but go to the scripture, and speak those scriptures over that seed. What are we talking about? Name that seed! Maybe you are in need of supernatural debt cancellation. There’s a seed in the Word of God for that too!
It can be a seed for any need, and Pastor Copeland teaches that the seed for supernatural debt cancellation is found in Luke 4:19 “To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
This is the year of Jubilee in which God supernaturally increased the annual harvest in a miraculous way to pay off and cancel all the debt in the times of ancient Israel, and this same supernatural debt cancellation is available to the Believer now! Amen!
“Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:6-7″
You as the reader respond to what you hear by giving and sowing into a good-ground ministry such as this one in order for it to take root. If you need finances, call your offering-seed ‘finances’, if you need healing, call your offering-seed ‘healing’ etc. and watch God bring what you named back to you in a supernatural way!
If you are in need of supernatural debt cancellation according to God’s Word, Brother Copeland teaches us to give our financial seed a specific purpose by naming it “Supernatural Debt Cancellation” and speak Luke 4:19 over it as so: “The Spirit of the Lord was on Jesus and He was anointed to preach the acceptable year of the Lord, and the Spirit of the Lord is on me and I’m anointed to receive it. Amen!” Then plant that seed into God’s kingdom – Amen!
As Kenneth and his wife Gloria Copeland concluded the lesson, they reminded us that this is not a barter for services. We’re not paying God off! Forget the worldly/religious view of it because this is the way God instructs us to release our faith. Now, go name your seed!
