New Jerusalem

Updated on April 19, 2016

The have been four articles that have preceded this article, which revealed what the ekklesia is not. Some have disagreed and have fought for their traditions within spiritual Babylon. There are some who are coming closer to understanding what the Gospel of the Kingdom is. It is about becoming citizens of New Jerusalem who are holy and blameless before their King; they are the true Bride of Jesus Christ, the wife of the Lamb.

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. – Revelation 21:2

Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. – Revelation 21:9-11

The Bride of Christ is not a denomination, sect, or building, but are people who have been cleansed by the Word of God, members of His body and citizens of New Jerusalem who are of one flesh with their King. They are in direct contrast with those who are in spiritual that participate in the sins of the harlot. God’s judgement is coming with plagues on all those who refuse His call, “Come out of her my people…” and be an overcomer.

The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. – Revelation 22:17

Come and be part of the Bride. It is about loving Jesus so much that we desire to obey Him by heed His call and escaping the imprisonment of Babylon that requires attendance in temples and sanctuaries.

Jesus answered him, If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. – John 14:23

Precious Stones

The modern “church” requires duty and obligation to please man, but the true Bride understands that obedience is about pleasing our King in all that we do. It is about relationship with Him that is free from the salaried professional mediators with a heart of love that manifests in their spirits. It is about allowing God to forge and refine us through suffering, pressure, stress, etc... The result is an overcomer who is formed as a precious stone that adorns the foundation of New Jerusalem.

The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every kind of jewel. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst. – Revelation 21:19-20

Each overcomer through the refinement and formation of God will become adorned with precious stones as part of the foundation of New Jerusalem. Each stone has a unique spiritual meaning, characteristics and significance.

  • Jasper – the process of being transformed and the mind renewed into the glory of God by the forging process of the Holy Spirit.

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. - Revelation 21:10-11

A once piece of once useless "carbon," or coal that is transformed by God into something of beauty that glorifies Him.

  • Sapphire – freedom from the enchantment, bewitchment and charms of the system and ideologies of Babylon. One who has left the religious rubble.

“O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted, behold, I will set your stones in antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires. - Isaiah 54:11

  • Chalcedony – the process of responding to God’s call and rejecting the impurities of our carnal thoughts and deeds.

It takes faith to respond to God's call that is the foundation of the true Church. Without doing so renders the "church" to organized religion. We must continue to contend for the faith and not allow it to whither and take on impurities that corrupt.

Having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. - Revelation 21:11

  • Emerald – the ability to discern the real from the counterfeit and make the distinctions between those who profess, but do not live it out from those who have a sincere heart towards Jesus Christ.

The light that shines from emerald is the same light that surrounds the throne room of God. Those who cannot discern between an "angel of light" and God's light cannot discern deception.

At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. - Revelation 4:2-3

  • Sardonyx – the ability to remain faithful to Jesus Christ without committing spiritual adultery (mixing the holy and profane) with the seductive spirits of Babylon.

“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. Isaiah 1:18

Sardonyx is a colorful stone etched with red and white. The scarlet of our sins becomes white as they are washed clean by the blood of the Lamb.

  • Sardius – the ability to function as a priest for the unbeliever by proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom.

To the Church of Sardus,“‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. - Revelation 3:1b

When we are still dead dead in trespasses of our sins we cannot function as priests of the Gospel because the Holy Spirit is not working in us to produce good works of proclaiming the Gospel to the world. It of takes zeal and suffering to produce good fruit. There are many martyrs in history that have given their lives for the Gospel.

  • Chrysolite – the freedom that comes from rejecting the evil passions of the religious madness of commodity that so many love in spiritual Babylon.

The foundation of New Jerusalem is built on pure gold, but Babylon is built on the fools gold of worldly wealth.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:19

  • Beryl – the ability to function as a mature priest of God just like Jesus did in His humanity.

A mature priest of God radiates the grace of the true Son by following the example of Jesus Christ.

  • Topaz – friendship, trust, loyalty and faithfulness that comes from an intimate and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Topaz has great clarity. When we focus on heavenly things our spiritual sight becomes much more clear and pure. Focusing on Jesus Christ changes our sight from the physical to the spiritual.

  • Chrysophrase – the ability to be shining light in a dark world by being the reflection of God's glory in attitude and behavior.

The works of righteousness have a huge impact on a dying world. It often takes hardships, labor and suffering to show God's love and charity.

  • Jacinth – the ability to hear directly from God and to speak life and truth to others.

Jacinth has the ability to change color based on the condition of the sky.

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. - 1 Corinthians 2:6

Imparting wisdom and life to the immature and the mature was a characteristic of Apostle Paul.

  • Amethyst – the ability to not desire, or want the accolades and flattery of men, but to be of no reputation and not worry about the opinions of others.

It is violet colored and sends out golden flames.

Those who have died for Jesus Christ have been humble and lowly. They pray for their enemies and those that persecute them. Steven is a good example.

The true Bride of Christ will have these characteristics as they mature in Jesus Christ. They are those who have become friends of Jesus and His Church who are people that yield good fruit from the Tree of Life.

Through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. – Revelation 22:2

Those of you who are disillusioned and oppressed by spiritual Babylon, come out of the harlot. Come and drink the water of life without cost.

The apostasy in the modern “church” has run rampant, and the masses no longer fear the Lord. They refuse to listen and obey the simple instructions of Jesus Christ and have created a convoluted mess of religious obligations. God is going to wreak havoc on those who blatantly refuse to repent for their rebellion and sinful ways. More and more “church” leaders are being exposed for their drunkenness, adultery, extortion, greed, etc... Unfortunately, the masses have become complacent and tolerate anybody and anyone within the harlot religion.

It is time to heed the call of the Holy Spirit before it is too late. The world is sick with religious charlatans who parade around upon raised stages and pulpits peddling their form of gospel for a price. It is time to abandon all the traditions of man and live in submission to Jesus. The masses in the modern “church” are blind, insipid and powerless because they do not even show an inkling of what the first disciples had.

Those who truly want to enter New Jerusalem must die to themselves and give Jesus first place in their hearts. It is about becoming a humble servant of the King that denies self-importance. It is about fellowshipping with at least one or two other true citizens that desire meaningful relationships. It is about abandoning the shallow relationships within the four walls of the modern “church.”

That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. – 1 John 1:3

True fellowship is about serving and desiring good for one another. It is not about attending the trappings of religious activities, but about spending time with God and applying the teachings of Jesus Christ. The social conventions and traditions in the modern “church” have no basis in the New Testament at all. There is no need for registered ordained ministers approved by licensing constitutions. As citizens of New Jerusalem, we are all qualified to do the work of a disciple, it is not left to some special cleric to do it. Most people who are baptized in the modern “church” are branded like cattle under a denominational umbrella. The carnal minds of salaried clergymen will appeal to Scripture to affirm their traditions, but their deceptions only tighten their hold on the masses they lord over. They promote their man-made kingdoms within the building by pointing out that Jesus went to the synagogues and that His disciples first met in temples, but conveniently forget the Jesus was under the Law before He died. The first disciples did not yet have the full knowledge or understand what Jesus had fully accomplished. When Jesus rose from the dead, he freed all of us from the oppression of the religious system. It took many years for the early Christians to grasp that they were no longer required to live under the Law.

In the same way, those in spiritual Babylon are zealous for the religious system and all that it demands. They are blinded to the covenant that Jesus made by shedding His blood; therefore, they continue to offer their sacrifices in vain to social customs and traditions that God sees as an abomination.

As Jesus Christ continues to build His ekklesia, He will join people together in a system that is not manufactured by man. It is not by our choice, but to whom He chooses our relationships to be with. It is not about our personal likes, dislikes, or social conventions, but about who the Father puts in our lives who will be profitable for us. Many do not want to have fellowship with those who criticize, exhort, and rebuke, but sometimes it is for our own good. Sometimes we need encouragement, while other times we may need a stone to sharpen out the rough edges and reveal flaws that we all have. Jesus is not coming back for a bickering and immature bride, but for a Bride that has made Herself ready by counting the cost.

Jesus is calling those to come out of spiritual Babylon, but it requires abandoning the secure four-walled structures that are stationed on prime pieces of real estate and giving up the obligated religious activities of the Harlot in exchange for being part of the true Bride. It is the only way into the City of God. It requires submission and obedience, but the results will bring spiritual peace and security as you become gems in the foundation of New Jerusalem.

I agree with you. Most of what goes on in "church" is about the kingdom of man, that is why the subject is not taught. I believe that many will not understand the Kingdom of God until they leave spiritual Babylon that blinds so many. I believe this is the key if any revival if is to happen in a broad sense. Unfortunately, there are still not enough messengers with the brass to take on the task. As I always say, we need to get off the playground and and on to the battlefield.

Thanks for the encouragement. God Bless.

The spiritual meanings of the stones comes from their physical characteristics and how light affects them. In the same way, God's light shines in us and we give off aspects of His glory. I believe that God wants us to have all the characteristics of each precious stone just as Jesus Christ had in his humanity. I believe as we mature more in Him, these things will become more prevalent in our lives.

If you re-read the Precious Stone section of this article, I have added my thoughts in a nutshell concerning each stone. Sorry, I should have done that before I posted. Of course a deeper study on the stones will bring more clarity (pardon the pun) to their spiritual meanings beyond the limited scope of this article. I personally find this a very interesting study, and there is so much that pops out from Scripture that I believe this is just the tip of the iceberg.

4 years ago from those of the Ekklesia

PandN- Of all the subjects mentioned in the bible the most important one is the one Jesus Christ talked about most during His three and one half years of ministry. The subject of the Kingdom of God. And yet, it is the least talked about subject in most churches we see today. You are right, modern churches are to focused on vanity and where their next dollar will come from. It is sad to think that it is as simple as picking up the word of God and truly placing one's heart into study on God's word and discover what we need to know about God's Kingdom. And the words spoken by Jesus in the four gospels of God's Kingdom. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 (KJV) "But seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." I would think that Jesus said " But seek ye FIRST" for a reason. So my question is How did so many christians miss this. Many of His parable discribe " The Kingdom of Heaven is LIKE" and yet we seem to take these parables to mean something else. The Sermon on the Mount as mentioned in Matthew chapters 5 through 7 ,if understood in it's context, is about the Kingdom of God. So, how do so many miss this? True christians are drawn into the true Church of Christ. We become the church as we are drawn deeper into the Body of Christ. We begin to understand more and more as we focus more on God and His Son and the Kingdom. It become a way of life. This is what Jesus meant when He said; Be in the world , but not of the world.

This Hub and the other four have been great. And I'm looking forward to your next one PandN. God Bless.

      Hi PandN,

      Well done my friend,

I thought the section on the precious stones was very interesting. I'd like to study that out more. How was the spiritual meaning of each stone determined? I enjoyed the video as well as the entire hub. Thanks for sharing.
