Not a me generation

Updated on June 18, 2013

It’s every generation.

“A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25 New International Version).

I just read an article where today’s younger generation feels entitled. They are very self centered and spoiled.

News flash: That has been the same since Eve took the first bite out of the fruit so she could be a God unto herself.

I have found the most miserable people to be the stingiest and self centered people. I have also found the happiest people are also those who are the ones who are the most generous. It does not matter if they are young or old, man or woman or child, what nationality they are.

One thing I have noticed though is that people in many poor countries and communities are more generous than those in rich countries. That is because community is important to them and they need each other to survive.

How about you?

How generous are you?

Are you generous with your money? Do you give even the smallest amount to help the needy? Be wise not foolish though. Why not help the working poor or those who are going to school to improve their skills?

Are you generous with your time? There are many lonely seniors that would love someone to visit them, many hiking trails that depend upon volunteers for upkeep, children that need mentors.

How about your prayer life? Do you go on Christian prayer web sites and write down say even four people needing prayer and sincerely pray for them every morning? You can go on the site weekly or monthly. Then write them and inform them you are praying for them and offer them love and encouragement.

"God has given us two hands:- one to receive with and the other to give with. We are not cisterns made for hoarding; we are channels made for giving." Billy Graham

Prayer: Thank you Jehovah Jireh (God our provider) for al the wonderful blessing You have so graciously abundantly given me. Please always open my heart and mind to emulate my beloved Jesus and always have just as generous a heart with others. I ask this in His extravagant name. Amen

May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day

Thanks for the tip. Yes there are so many more meaningful ways to share other than money.

      Good morning always exploring.

I strongly support the Salvation Army for thier good deeds. Unfortuntaly they do not have them here.

May God bless you with generous hearts to share with the world.

The Salvation Army is a wonderful organization to give to. They feed and house the less fortunate. Great reminder to give Teacherjoe.I like the two hand idea, one to give and one to receive. Thank's for the share..

Generosity is essential and is what 'having a good eye' refers to in Matt. 6:22. It is still a saying in Israel today. To have a good eye means to be generous. An evil eye is to be stingy. And you are so right Teacherjoe, the poorest, grumpiest, unhappiest people are 9 times out of 10, people who are stingy. Not only in money but in their time, love, etc. As Christians, we are called to be of assistance to those in need, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ. There is so much aid needed in so many areas. Christian persecution is increasing and a wonderful charity which is run by Brother Andrew who risked all his early years taking Bibles into Russia which was a closed society at the time, now manages to get help through to these brothers and sisters in mostly Muslim countries. It is Otherwise just google Open Doors. God Bless
