Novena to St. Therese, the Little Flower

Updated on June 22, 2018

Theresa Martin entered a Carmelite convent at the age of fifteen. As Sister Therese of the Child Jesus, she lived a hidden life. She was just twenty-four when she died. The World came to know her through her autobiography, “The Story of A. Soul.” She described her life as “a little way of spiritual childhood.” She lived each day with unshakable confidence in God’s love. What matters in life is “not great deeds, but great love.” “My mission--to make God loved--will begin after my death,” she said. “I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses.” Countless lives have been touched by her intercession, and thousands have imitated her “little way.” She has been acclaimed the greatest saint of modern times.” Everywhere in the world the roses continue to fall.

MIRACULOUS INVOCATION TO ST. THERESE

O glorious Saint Therese, whom almighty God has raised up to aid and counsel mankind, I implore your Miraculous Intercession. So powerful are you in obtaining every need of body and soul our Holy Mother Church proclaims you a “Prodigy of Miracles...the Greatest Saint of Modern times.” Now I fervently beseech you to answer my petition (mention here) and to carry out your promises of spending Heaven doing good upon earth...of letting fall from Heaven a Shower of Roses. Henceforth, dear Little Flower, I will fulfill your plea” to be made known everywhere” and I will never cease to lead others to Jesus through you. Amen

O Little Therese of the Child Jesus,
please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens
and send it to me as a message of love.

O Little Flower of Jesus,
ask God today to grant the favors
I now place with confidence in your hands....

(mention specific requests)

St. Therese, help me to always believe,
as you did, in God's great love for me
so that I might imitate your "Little Way" each day.

Amen.

My mother-in-law introduced me to St. Therese and she was very devoted to her. My brother's wife related a story to me that her mother had been praying to St. Therese for the health of a loved one. She walked out the door in November and saw a rose on the bush that should have been bare for months.

St. Therese has been a strong influence in my life for almost 30 years and many lives around me. I say this novena every day and I have been drawn to roses or particularly pretty pictures of roses when I was praying for a special cause.

When my husband and I were traveling we flew out of Cleveland Airport. Edwina waited on us at the concession stand and we struck up a conversation and eventually got around to talking about St. Therese. The next time I flew out of Cleveland I took Edwina one of my prayer cards and guess what she had one for me too with a different version of the novena.

So believe or not, St. Therese intercedes for us through Jesus Christ and can be a powerful friend in times of need.

I have promised to publish this prayer and in doing so a portion of this hub is the same as others published by other followers of St. Therese.
