Oh, Give Thanks!
Psalms 107:1--”Give thanks to Adonai, for He is good, for His loving kindness endures forever.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18--”In everything give thanks, for this is the will of Elohim in ha-Mashiach Yeshua toward you."
I thought I would do something a little bit fun this morning. Things have been very serious in my household over the last few weeks. I had two papers due; typed in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced, title sheet, reference sheet, eight to ten pages long, and in APA format. The APA format will beat me down every time. I have two abstracts due this week that will be the start of two more papers with the same final product form as my previous two papers. Again, the APA format will beat me down every time. Michaela was in the hospital for a couple of days, and though she is so much better, she is still weak and tentative in doing too much all at once. All the chiddos are feeling the crunch of their school studies as I step up their learning with greater expectations. I think even Murphy feels the crunch of our busy stress because he has a tendency to hide out more in the back bedrooms (LOL)!
But, I digress, and reiterate my first statement; I thought I would do something a little bit fun this morning. It is good to have fun once in awhile. I want to write out a few “thank you” phrases in Hebrew.
"Thank You's" in Hebrew
Todah! (Thank you!)
Todah raba! (Thank you very much!)
Todah Adonai! (Thank you, LORD!)
Todah al hamlim hachamot! (Thank you for your kind words!)
Todah sheba’atem! (Thank you for coming today!)
Todah al hafavana! (Thank you for your consideration!)
Todah shebilitem itanu! (Thank you for spending time with us!)
Todah shehaytia savlani veazarta li lehishtaper! (Thank you for being patient and helping me to improve!)
Todah al hamatana! (Thank you for the gift!)
Ze me’od adiv metzidkha! (That is very kind of you!)
Lamadeti kol kakh harbe bizkhutkha! (I have learned so much, thanks to you!)
Blessing of Thanksgiving
Baruch Atah, Adonai, Eloheinu, Melech ha’olam,
Shehakol niheyah bidvaro,
Shehakol bara likhvodo,
Shetamid zokheir b’rito,
Shekhocho malei ha’olam,
B’shem u’vadam Yeshua Meshicheinu.
Blessed are You, O LORD, our G_d, King of the universe,
Who brings about everything by His Word,
Who creates all for His glory,
Who always remembers His covenant,
Whose power fills the universe,
In the Name and blood of Yeshua our Messiah.
