One Step to Faith

Updated on September 29, 2011

What is faith

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen (manifested, in the earth).

Some dictionary terms for faith

  1. title deed
  2. document of possession
  3. assurance
  4. confirmation
  5. proof

Faith according to Jesus starts as a seed that can be increased according to use. Every believer has been given 'the' measure of faith.

Faith sees in the spiritual whatever is hoped for - before it is manifested or seen in the physical, the earth. That is why God connects with us through our imagination. It is a spiritual connection, for good or for evil. That is why so many of us are fascinated with our unconscious mind, because God actually touches us there, so that when we are quiet, we end up discovering things about God, the word, Jesus the Christ and the power we have when our conscious is shut down - that is why we dream!

Every Christian according to the Bible, is a child of God through the adoption process of Jesus Christ being the first of all sons (daughters). So when we confess Him as our Lord and Savior, we have access to God and are sealed with the Holy Spirit. So, we have the measure of faith.

Jesus spoke constantly about the measure of faith no greater than a mustard seed, the smallest seed on the earth. He spoke about faith the size of a grain of a mustard seed in specific terms moving mountains.

But if you pay attention to this verse you will see that faith is based on hope. Whatever you hope for is what your faith works with to give substance too.

Human beings wherever you find them have the light of hope! The y understand, no matter their individual intellectual acumen that there is something bigger than themselves. Making them seekers, so that they can be satisfied.

What is hope

The Bible gives instructions to Hope in God, but what is hope, what does it consist of, what does it look like, can it be identified. The dictionary says hope is

  • feeling that events turn out for the best
  • feeling that what is wanted can be had
  • a person or thing that expectations are centered on

Faith gives the thing that you are hoping for tangibility, it's make up, it's particles, it's substance.

Scriptures to read

Romans 14 : 23 specifically says that whatever we do if we do not do it in faith is sin.

Romans 4 Talks about Abraham being justified by faith. It says that Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.

Romans 8: talks about son ship, no condemnation and being joint heirs with Christ, this requires faith.

How to get faith

The only step to faith concerning the Christian is a relationship with God through Christ Jesus! It takes the prompting of the Holy Spirit of God to draw all men unto Himself. Which He does continuously, everyday because He loves human beings.

Why does He love them so much, because they are a part of Him. He created mankind in His image first in the spiritual realm, then He created a body from the dust of the earth for the first man - Adam, when He had completed creating the garden of Eden. When this was done God then breathed the spirit of man into the shell - the earth suit; we call the flesh of our body.

God gave every man the measure of faith. That faith is necessary for a person to come to God, the father, to believe that He exists and He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him. That faith is necessary for the just to live. That faith is what moves the hand of God. That faith believes God and the word that He inspired known as the Bible.

With use that faith grows! The more you believe God, the word of God, about Jesus as a Lord and Savior and the teachings / knowledge of the Holy Spirit, the more faith grows and your relationship solidifies.

The word of God says that Jesus fulfilled the law and the prophets. That with His life, death, resurrection and ascension, a new covenant was introduced to mankind, which God had promised and swore to keep Himself. Jesus summed it up in two commandments that we love God and we love our neighbor as ourselves!

Jesus talked constantly about faith, belief in Him and the one who sent Him, God the father. If something needed to be done, like a healing, or money was needed, a feeding, casting out demons, or raising someone from the dead, He spoke in faith. Normally when He connected with people He asked them what they believed about Him, gauging their individual faith.

Jesus demonstrated how we are to live. That we are only supposed to speak what the father said, because life and death are in the power of the tongue. To do all the father says to do, and that information or guidance only comes through the knowledge of the Bible and the example of Jesus Christ and all of those who followed, through the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

Growing faith

The word of God says that faith comes by hearing, hearing and hearing the word of God. That means you need to hear the word, you need to speak the word, you need to sing the word, you need to read the word - all out LOUD. So that it becomes life in you. So that it grows. So that the word of God changes your thoughts and beliefs.

So that you, a child of the living God see what you are believing for, just like Abraham, who despite his age and the age of his wife, Sarah, believed he would be the father of many nations through his own seed.

Wow! what an example of faith and believing God!
