Our God Shall Supply All Of Our Needs
A Look of Lost Hope
We sat in that office of The Department of Labor for hours. People were being called from one station to the next for processing and information. There was a steady stream of people coming in, the doors were always opening. I could not help but to notice the good job that the workers were doing in keeping their lines moving, and getting people to the places they needed to be.
But I also couldn't help but notice, that there were more people coming in, than there were people going out. There were all kinds of people there. I saw a small framed lady who looked to me as if she couldn't have been far away from her retirement, only to lose her job, and was now registering for benefits. There were many young people there, people who were short and tall, people who were skinny and fat, people who were black, brown, white, and red.
Being in the office, made me see what I had heard about for so long. Being there allowed me to attach real faces to the staggering numbers and percentages that are reported daily on our six o'clock news. For the very first time I could plainly see that what's going on with our economy has truly affected the masses. For the first time I could put a face besides the foreclosure sign in the front yard, near the street, of many homes in our neighborhoods and communities. Now, these were no longer just properties about to be foreclosed on, now these became people's homes, where they resided and raised their children.
Now I could see the faces of those who had been let go from their jobs due to a failing or sluggish economy, yet, they needed to keep their lights on, heat on, water running, and to supply nourishment for their families. Many of the faces I saw wore deep concern. Many were only focused on the task at hand, and were intent on getting things done without delay, and without distraction.
Yet, the thing that affected me most, was the look of lost hope, and waning faith, on the faces of many of the people.
I have Learned In Whatsoever State I Am, Therewith To Be Content
I wondered within myself, How many of these people are Christian? How many with bowed down head, and no hope are followers of God, and truly believe on His Word? I wondered even if some may be only " Fair Weather Christians." Those who are happy and jubilant, as long as things are going well, and there is no rain falling on their heads. Those who praise in the sunshine, when their bills are met, and they still have a little something left over.
Then I began to look for faces that exuded strength, those whose appearance exemplified one that would praise God anyhow. I looked for some whose face was saying as Paul said in Philippians 4: 11-13, " Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to be abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." I wanted to see people, even in this troubled time, who knew that God would never leave them, nor would he forsake them.
But again, I realized that this was not an isolated happenstance, this economy was being all inclusive of the masses. It was not only one race, or one age group, or one level on the economic ladder, vast multitudes of people are being tried through financial woes and hardships.
If My People, Who Are Called By My Name
I know the entire bible is the Written Word of God. I know that the bible contains the promises of God, and the blessings of God, for His people who obey His Laws, Statutes, and Commands.
Yet, I believe that included in the Word of God, is what I call " The Key." I believe there is a key, a promise, given by God to fix whatever is broken in our lives. A key to restore, to deliver, and to heal.
After King Solomon had completed to temple of God in Jerusalem, and had made many sacrifices and offerings, Solomon knelt down before all the congregation of Israel, and before God, and he prayed.
2nd Chronicles 6: 22- 31,
If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath be laid upon him to make him swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house; Then hear thou from heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, by requiting the wicked, by recompensing his way upon his own head; and by justifying the righteous, by giving him according to his righteousness.
And if thy people Israel be put to the worse before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee; and shall return and confess thy name, and pray and make supplication before thee in this house; Then hear thou from the heavens, and forgive the sins of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest to them and to their fathers.
When the heavens are shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee, yet if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou doest afflict them; Then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.
If there be dearth in the land, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting, or mildew, locusts, or caterpillars; if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their land; whatsoever sore or whatsoever sickness there be: Then what prayer or what supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when every one shall know his own sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house: Then hear thou from heaven thy dwellingplace, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:) That they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
God answers Solomon: 2nd Chronicles 7: 12-14, and gave him " The Key."
And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
" If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: THEN will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
God shall supply all of our needs according to his riches in glory, but God is a God of ORDER. When we turn back to God with our whole heart, God will turn back to us. When we put aside denominations, traditions, doctrines, and all of the things that separate the Body of Christ, THEN, God will hear from heaven, forgive our sin, and heal our land.
We, Men and Women of God, must come together in corporate prayer. We must call unto God with one voice, on behalf of the masses, the leaders, and the land.
