Wise Counsel comes from Godly Wisdom

~ Proverbs 19 The Goldmine Of Spiritual Wisdom ~

The Proverbs are a marvelous powerful collection of wisdom packed parallelisms. Here you will find inspiring Truths placed side by side! A parallelism is a balance of two or more words, statements or phrases. The meaning is strengthened between the connections. The second statement expands, defines or completes and emphasizes on the first statement. This helps to draw an improved logical contrast .or conclusion. The Proverbs are time tested principles. I hope throughout this series you will study each Proverb in its entirety. Reading a Proverb each day will enhance your spiritual life in many ways. There is one for every day! Each month you can start all over again. If you miss a day start on that particular day. Each time you will discover a new incredible wise and meaningful concept.

King Solomon has much to share with us. He prayed with the people and praised God. He dedicated the grand magnificent Temple he built to honor the Lord and offered numerous sacrifices to honor Him. He also made many grain offerings before the vast assembly. Can you imagine the thousands of animals he sacrificed? "Twenty- two thousand cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats.” The festival lasted for fourteen days! “They blessed the King and then went home, joyful and glad in heart for all the good things the Lord had done for his servant David and his people of Israel.” I Kings 8. How wonderful to know we longer have to sacrifice live sacrifices! Jesus Christ, The Holy Lamb of God became the only pure, sinless living Sacrifice for the entire world!

The children of Israel and King Solomon were thankful for all the Lord had done! They were called to obey God and live before Him. There was a conditional contingency for continued blessings from the Lord. The Lord told Solomon; “as for you if you walk before me in integrity of heart and uprightness, as your father David did, and do all I command and observe my decrees and laws, I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father when I said. “You shall never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.”

"But if you or your sons turn away from me and do not observe the commands and decrees I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship them, then I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them and reject this Temple I have consecrated for My Name…” I Kings 9. Well, they too eventually disobeyed!

Israel gradually deterred from living by God’s principles and King Solomon at times. succumbed to his human weaknesses and desires rather than obeying God. Yet, The Lord fulfilled His promise to his father King David that his line would continue forever. God is faithful! We can Trust the Lord’s Word! He has shown us over and over throughout His WORD that His promises are all true! Jesus Christ is from the lineage of King David.

Here in these wonderful, wise Proverbs of King Solomon we can learn how very important it is to be faithful to God’s principles for life and living! King Solomon allowed sin to remain all around him and was eventually corrupted by it! Here we can learn the benefits of keeping the Lord’s principles as our first priority! Seeking His will and Way above all else. “Unless the Lord builds a house they labor in vain” Psalm 127. There are many things designed to distract one in life, to take us away from our God given purpose. Jesus Christ came that we could have a better, richer fuller life in every way. He overcame sin in the flesh for us! Knowing that Solomon was the wisest man to ever live, we can greatly benefit from his words of wisdom here in the Proverbs! Developing an ongoing relationship with the Lord will strengthen you spiritually. Upon the profession of your FAITH. He has given you His abiding internal and external gift of His Holy Spirit! You can call upon Him as Lord and Savior.

A few facts about this great wise King. King Solomon is historically recorded as the third king of Israel. He was the chosen heir of His father David who had numerous sons. He is given the title as the wisest man who ever lived. He is the prolific author of Ecclesiastes. Song of Solomon, also known as Song of Songs. He wrote the majority of the Proverbs and several of the Psalms. He built the first great magnificent Temple in Jerusalem as well as a grand palace estate and surrounding palatial buildings. He was an excellent builder, leader, patron of the arts, trader, collector of fine arts and well known respected Diploma.

Wisdom is plentiful throughout these Proverbs! But wisdom is only beneficial for anyone when it is embraced and applied. It must be put into action! Wisdom does not mean we will not make mistakes. It is clear that King Solomon made many! We can learn from his mistakes. Wisdom will illuminate our shortcomings and help us make better life decisions as we put it into practice. As a King and ruler of many, King Solomon had a multiplicity of responsibilities.

Our government could also learn much from King Solomon. The United States of America was founded upon God’s principles. It is clear that there is a continual shift from those principles embraced by our founding fathers. "GOD IS LOVE!" His WORD defines what true LOVE means. When we truly Love God we commit to embrace and implement the principles of HIS Word within our daily lives. We should readily REPENT whenever it is necessary. Many might not readily admit this, but it is none the less true! In this 21st century our country, President, government and world leaders need much prayer! The Word tells us to pray for them! How in the world did we ever allow it to get to the point where the United States of America's government was actually "SHUT DOWN!" Experience is not always the best teacher!

How did we ever get to the point where the Supreme Court thought that it was okay to vote against the WORD of GOD in favor of "same sex unions?" LORD HELP US! The scriptures contain a plethora of invaluable spiritual lessons to help us not repeat the mistakes of previous generations. We as a nation should return to the principles of GOD'S WORD! After all we are supposed to be "One nation under God!" We are not suppose to use HIS GRACE as a license to sin. Sin is missing the mark and actually separates us from God! There is no better place to be than in the WILL of GOD! Yes things will still happen but we can trust that in His time when we walk in obedience; "He works all things together for the GOOD."

We can learn significant lessons from the mistakes of others and what has happened in the past. We can see when they honored God's principles and when they did their own thing... Godly wisdom is crucial! Certainly much can be learned from such a strong powerful world leader as King Solomon. Or we can elect to continue to go down the same path that leads one away from God and embrace the ways of the world! Yet we hear many ask “God Bless America!” We must embrace HIS principles. Lord HELP us! The timeless principles of TRUTH within the Word of God remain the same!

~ Proverbs 19 ~

Proverbial Lesson Highlights

Godly Life

Today there is a big push in ministry towards prosperity! One is often told; they just need to plant the necessary seed! What we really need to do is plant more seeds of righteousness and trust God to provide whatever we need. We all are so very different. But our great need for God and the importance of accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is the same. Although many have all they want, they still realize that they are not happy or fulfilled. Fulfillment is not found in material things. The richest man who does not know God is still spiritually poor! Spiritual wealth is not in the tangible material things that one can see. There is nothing wrong with material possessions or the desire to want them. They do bring a certain degree of comfort and convenience! One must remember things come and go but "For the grace of God go I" Life is about learning how to prioritize and determine what we need and want, what we can afford and the right time to make it happen.

It is vitally important that we must always first turn to God for help. For our well being and direction in life! As believers, He should be our first priority everyday! “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will be added until you.” Matthew 6. Look about you for example: Divorce within the Church is no different from that in the world. Now we have many who no longer respect the House of God as being sacred and will say and do some of anything before during and after worship... There is so much spiritual warfare to divide families. Something is wrong with this picture. It is important to know it is not what others think that matters most. It is what God knows. We must know, embrace, walk in and continue to proclaim the Word of God! A God centered life is the most valuable and precious possession we can ever have. It comes with eternal and unlimited spiritual blessings! But it is important to know with it comes misunderstandings and much persecution. “Better is a poor man whose walk is blameless, than a fool whose lips are perverse!”

False witness

A false witness is a liar! When I was growing up “liar” was a word that I could not say. Instead we said “telling a story!” False witnesses tell false stories… The Word has a lot to say about those who bear false witness. We learned earlier in Proverbs 18death and life are in the power of the tongue,” It is really important to know this gives the devil a stronghold on your life. “Thou should not bear false witness against thou neighbor” Exodus 20. This is also one of the Ten Commandments! God is Omniscient; meaning He is totally aware of everything! He knows when someone is lying, God is The Spirit of TRUTH! “A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will not go free...”

Wisdom & Patience

Patience is a virtue! Patience is a part of the Fruit of God’s Spirit! Remember wisdom is the principle thing and it is good doctrine that will forever be important! Patience is also another benefit of wisdom! Incidents are not just isolated happenings! So when we are patient when things are not going our way we should exercise wisdom. This does not mean that everything will be good or feel good. But it does mean that God who is Sovereign will eventually work it to our benefit! God always knows what is best for each of us. Godly wisdom will help us overlook some things and on the other hand know what time it is? This is especially true when we realize, “God works everything together for the good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose!” Romans 8. “A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is his glory to overlook an offense.”

Prudent Wife

To be prudent means to use good sense. To be wise! A good wife does not try to hinder her husband in anyway. She encourages him to grow closer to the Lord and embraces His principles for life and living. She is judiciously, frugal and practical! She will encourage him in the area of finances, to grow spiritually and work together with him to do what is best for their household. She will always encourage him to become all the Lord would have him to be. Wealth is often handed down from generation to generation. You can’t inherit a prudent wife? A wife who is prudent is an asset, she is a precious gift from the Lord! “Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.”

Importance of Wise Advice

Here in The proverbs we find a “Goldmine of Spiritual Wisdom.” Being wise does not mean that we will not experience trouble in life. Many times it means just the opposite! Whenever looking for advice we should seek those who are wise and know the Word of God. Many seek advice from ungodly, worldly counsel. They are often advised to handle issues and situations in principles that are not from the Word of God. Sometimes Godly advice is not what you want to hear. But God’s Word is medicine for the soul! It brings healing! Although it may initially hurt we must confront error in ourselves as well as others... This is what refines us and makes us better people. The motive is always to bring forth healing. Sometimes your very presence will make others feel uneasy. Some times we just have to just stand back. "Redemptive Confrontation" is all about loving someone enough to disagree whenever necessary. When done in love we all benefit! We all stand to be corrected. God's Word is for reproof & correction as well to edify and build up! This is why it is important to know the Word of God for yourself.

We are accountable to God for our actions! We grow spiritually when we seek out wise counsel and handle life situations in a way that pleases the Lord! The Proverbs were written to impart wisdom! “Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.”

Fearing GOD

Fearing God is one of the wisest things we can ever do! We are not afraid of Him as One who means us harm, but we fear Him in a reverential way. We demonstrate this when we respect and implement His principles within our own daily lives! We Love Him because He is Love! As a matter of fact “Perfect love casts out fear...” we are able to give our fears to Him as we learn to TRUST HIM!

We are in the midst of some interesting times in these last days. The earthquakes centered in Haiti, Chile, Mexico, and Rio de Janeiro continue to have lingering effects. They still are attempting to rebuild! There was a terrible earthquake in California centered within the Napa Valley. Another terrible earthquake in Nepal! The horrendous catastrophic weather conditions in the Philippines & Nepal resulted in the loss of power, homes, resources, and proper shelter as well as the death of thousands!

Let us not forget the Vatican's alarming number of sexual abuse cases by priests! What about the numerous major fires all around and the continuing drought plaguing the land. The disturbing reports of the immoral behavior in some of our congregations. There is even a series on t v called "sinister Ministers" Lord Help Us!

Look at the numerous shootings at our schools and on the university campuses... We have even had shootings in theaters. LORD help us because not only that but a record breaking horrendous senseless shooting during worship in the midst of Bible Study where eight (8) worshipers were killed in cold blood! Terrorism on the rise both foreign and domestic. ISIS is frightening... to think that they have even openly beheaded Americans and innocent children; can you go any lower? There is and will be continual alarming natural disasters and wars and rumors of wars to come. The unexpected deaths from a plane crash of the President, officials and many others from Poland! The news is full of story after story of heart wrenching disturbing news! The list continues there is so much more! Let us again not forget the "SHUT DOWN!" of the United States Government!"

Nothing that ever happens is unknown to God! As believers we can always have Hope in the Lord and His Word! There is still more to come! There are many false prophets on the rise! “many will turn away and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because the increase of wickedness, the love of man will grow cold…” Matthew 24.

The Word of God is being fulfilled which is reassuring! Jesus told us that many things would happen! All of this points to the significant importance of having an ongoing personal intimate relationship with the Lord! When trouble comes our way we can call on Him as, Savior and Lord! We can always have “HOPE” in the LORD!

Christianity is meant to be a daily lifestyle. Fearing the Lord is admirable! We are to love God and hold His Word as the standard by which we live above the ways of this world. Although many are moving away from His Word we as true believers, should still continue to embrace it wholeheartedly. When we make anyone feel comfortable in sin we actually enable them from drawing closer to the Lord. They become more dependent upon you or someone else instead of the Lord. Momentarily they may feel good but it keeps them in limbo. God really does know what is best for each of us! His word is pretty clear on what not to do! When in doubt seek out HIS WORD and spend some time in His presence. This is what brings about spiritual wholeness within our lives. We can ENJOY life to a fuller degree when we truly know the Lord. We realize He has everything under HIS control! Christ is going to return! Are you prepared? It is important to know who you are in Jesus Christ! We realize that He alone is Sovereign! “The fear of the Lord leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.

I pray that you continue on with me in this series of The Proverbs! Your comments are welcomed. “Give us today our daily bread!” They truly are a “Goldmine of Spiritual Treasures!

Proverbs 19 concludes by telling us; “A corrupt witness mocks at justice, and the lips of mouth of the wicked gulps down evil Penalties are prepared for mockers, and beatings for the backs of fools.”

AM Werner, You have made some very good points! One's spiritual depth goes much deeper than the surface... Nor is it apparent by material possesions or the lack thereof. The Prophets, Job, David, Solomon, the widow who had little, the disciples... Then there are so many examples today as well. It is evident that things come and go.

Much spiritual growth can be obtained during adverse situations. The Word has such a wide and vast assortment of illustrations! God is not a respecter of persons! He knows our hearts!

Thank you for sharing as always your wise and insightful comments! Yes! I love this Scripture as well "Perfect love cast out all fear." Praise God! It is a blessing to have a spouse that is from the Lord and together you commmit to His will and way!

In is love, Peace and blessings to you and your lovely family!

Thanks for another inspiring and edifying Hub. Again, one that should be read twice as its very rich. What stays in my heart today as I read this is: If God's hand is in something - it can not fail. (maybe a project we are working on or even better - our lives). I took this from what you wrote: “Unless the Lord builds a house they labor in vain” Psalm 127."

I hope to meditate on this all week. Thanks so much.

      Have a prosperous week. :)

DJ Braman, They are wonderful! You are quite right about reading a Proverb or two a day! The Word is so full of wisdom! Discernment is a precious gift from God! Many really do not know or realize how much actually originates out of the Scriptures about behavior. There are many behaviorists who have taken godly principles and humanized them beyond apparent recognition.

Thank you for visiting and sharing your insight! In His love & Blessings!

DeBorrah, you spoke of the liars and the prosperity preachers - two faces on the same coin. I've always believed that the Lord's message must carry true in all cultures, under all conditions. The idea that prosperity, worldly prosperity is a sign of people being divinely anointed cannot hold up everywhere. There are some places in the world where people need to know that He is, and a provider of the basic necessities - food and raiment. In the midst of calamity and devestation, people can know for a surety, He is with them. As far as prudent wives go, I know I got blessed from above. Priceless. Men truly should not underestimate the power of having a Yah-fearing woman in their lives, at their side. I love that verse, 'Perfect love cast out all fear.' It is so true. When you love completely, there is no worry. Thanks for this beautiful reminder of such praiseful glory. Peace.
