~ Proverbs 29 The Goldmine Of ~ Spiritual Wisdom ~
Proverbs is a brilliantly wonderful, wealthy affluent resource for anyone desiring to ascertain spiritual wisdom. It is an endless reservoir of priceless pithy succinct sayings, brilliant short stories, proficiently constructed parables and couplets of wisdom filled topical maxims!
The Proverbs are written by King Solomon who was an extraordinary man of reputable royal status. He had twelve district governors over all of Israel. His administration generously supplied his massive gargantuan royal household. He nor they lacked in any material nor monetary resources and were extravagantly and lavishly provided for in every way. Yet there was still a great void; something was lacking in their relationship with the Lord! This is what caused them to be spiritually blind.
It is within a healthy relationship with the Lord true “security and significance resides! There is s void in all of us that only He can fill. This is true regardless of what you have or do not have. Nothing or nobody can take the place of God! King Solomon candidly shares his insight. We all can learn to put life in its proper perspective as we study, apply and implement the wisdom of these timeless Proverbs.
A relationship with GOD is most important
Here within these Proverbs we are assured that God is more than able to provide whatever we need in life materially, emotionally as well as intellectually. King Solomon had the finest of the finest. There is nothing wrong per se with material possessions. It is actually how we relate and associate to them that can become problematic? What is important to keep in mind that it is not in the “things” that the quintessential essence of true invaluable treasures reside. It is in our ongoing lifetime growing spiritual relationship with the Lord! We will forever need the Lord!
King Solomon had more riches and comforts relevant to his time, than anyone that ever lived. Yet there was still this void. God wants our lives to be centered around Him. Not in a ritualistic religious way. But in a way we respect Him as our Creator and recognize that He knows what is best for us. In Him we can find contentment like nothing else. God keep his promises. He promises to supply all our needs. “And my God will meet all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be GLORY forever and ever. Amen.” Philippians 4.
Christ Jesus as our Savior
Proverbs demonstrate the relevancy of knowing God and Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord! This world was called into existence by God. In the beginning there was nothing! Through the Word He spoke and things appeared. Jesus Christ is His Word in the flesh. Everything was spoken into existence by Him. The written Scriptures are God's infallible Word! It is important to know Him and have an ongoing personal and intimate relationship with Him through His Word! “He is the express image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him ALL things were created: things in Heaven and in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before ALL things, and in HIM ALL things hold together. And He is the Head of the body of the Church…” Colossians 1.
King Solomon's Wisdom
King Solomon was a brilliant man. “God gave Solomon wisdom and great insight, and a breath of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. Solomon’s wisdom was greater than all the wisdom of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. He was wiser than any other man…” I Kings 4. King Solomon spoke over (3,000) three thousand Proverbs! His songs were over a ( 1,000) thousand. He was quite knowledgeable as far as plant life, animals, reptiles and fish. Kings and men from all over the world came to listen to him.
In this 21st century we still have much more to learn from the ageless godly principles in these Proverbs. The beauty is this wisdom is just as useful and powerful today. When one decidedly inclines their heart and mind to them there is a plethora of wisdom to acquire and retain! They are here to assist us all to prodigiously acquire profitable invaluable astute perception and understanding. What is so beautiful; due to Jesus Christ we today as well have His precious Holy Spirit. Our internal abiding Comforter and Navigator.
One must pray for spiritual discernment! It is truly an exemplary consummate gift from God! It gives us a keen sense of godly direction and perspicacity. It is the ever abiding presence of His Holy Spirit gently directing us! “Therefore, since Christ suffered in the body arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God…” I Peter 4. We must remain prayerful, since we are all subject to err and make mistakes. This is why we need Him as our personal Savior! It is important to know His Word! God never guides us to do anything that goes against His principles!
There is much in the world to distract us from living for the Lord. Many have laid His Word aside and embraced the ways of the world and been seduced then ensnared by its corruption. They have been spiritually blinded to the significance and value of Christianity as a daily lifestyle. It has become a Sunday religion! Therefore we must pray: “Our Father, Which are in Heaven your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread…” God's Word is our much needed spiritual daily bread!
It is important that we ask the Lord to fill us with His wisdom and spiritual knowledge and understanding. “And we pray this that in order you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way” bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience and joyfully giving Thanks to God the Father who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of LIGHT.” Colossians 1.
It is highly recommended that you read a Proverb each day! I assure you your spiritual life will be greatly enhanced! The spiritual wisdom here will make you a wiser, happier, healthier, intuitive person! Life will become much more fulfilling as you embrace and apply the concepts therein! The Proverbs indeed contain a luxurious well appointed wealth of endless treasure! They are a Goldmine of SPIRITUAL WISDOM. Fit for a king, yet equally important for us as the children of God as well as everyone else!

Proverbial Lesson Highlights
God speaks to us in numerous says. We do not have to keep making the same mistake over and over to learn. It is important that we learn to listen! Insanity is doing the same thing over and over… “ God is always speaking; we just have to get better at listening!” When we say we believe what does that mean? Does it mean that we believe what people say about God; or do we “Believe God!” It is so important to spend time in His Word. There is a huge difference!
We can learn a lot from being open to the Word of God and allowing ourselves to be corrected! We must go a step further and actually implement whatever it is that we are learning! God loves us “A man who remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed without remedy.”
Importance of Integrity
It is important to embrace godly principles to keep you grounded! There is much to pull you away from what is right. The world seeks to make you conform rather than to be transformed by the Lord! God is the Master Potter He is always shaping and molding us as long as we are willing… What is so interesting; so is the world! It appeals to the carnal mind and encourages you to satisfy the flesh over what is spiritually right! Here is the challenge! One must know the difference! There is a constant spiritual battle to bring you down and dim the Light of the Lord from shining through you. Don’t allow the Lord to be a stranger in your life and in your home! It is important to live life to please the Lord in Him you will eventually have the victory! “Blood thirsty men hate a man of integrity and seek to kill the upright.”
Anger and Fools
You can expect just about anything from a fool! A fool lacks good sense or sound judgment! When angry he/she exercises very little self discipline. A fool will quite often say and do things that they later live to regret! They act impulsively and are void of deep understanding! It takes much more discipline to think before you say, react or do… Wisdom causes one to become wise and exercise self control and then respond. “A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.
Importance of Discipling our Children
It is not easy properly disciplining children. It takes time, consistency and a great deal of emotional energy and patience to do so appropriately. God is The Ultimate Father and Loves us dearly! Chastisement is a part of His love. Many do not understand what it means to love. Making someone comfortable in sin is not love. Codependency is a way of life for many. Destructive behavior patterns need to be addressed and broken, not swept under the rug… When you truly love someone you love them enough to correct them.
Grace is a part of love. We are saved by grace. Grace is God’s unmerited favor. He loves us because of who He is rather than who we are or what we do! Our behavior does not change His love for us! But greatly effects the way in which we interact. But our sincere love for Him changes our behavior! Walking in disobedience causes separation. Sin is what separates us from God! This is why we need Jesus Christ as our personal Savior! His Holy Spirit is our internal Comforter and Spiritual Teacher! It puts us in check!
Many parents are impatient and apprehensive when disciplining their children. Yelling then becomes their way of addressing and correcting their children. It stunts their emotional growth. This results in causing the child to act out more so as well as they are able to then; press your emotional buttons. This does not mean that you must “walk on egg shells.” There are times when you need to be quite firm and yes overbearing! The intent should be to discipline not instill fear! It is important to get it together! Correct your own behavior and help your child!
The rod of correction is symbolic of, “Matte which occurs 252 times in the Word and is used to refer to a branch, stick, stem, rod, shaft, staff. A stick used to beat.” No doubt spanking is taught here in these Proverbs as a viable option for properly disciplining a child. Discipline should always be age appropriate. Beating a child or abuse of any source is never proper! One must ask “do you want to punish or discipline?” Here again we are able to learn from the Wisdom of Solomon. A child that is not properly disciplined will and can act out terribly to the point that one can become embarrassed! When you are a good parent and patient with your children they will still act out from time to time; but at least you have modeled good behavior to them, or have you? It’s never too late to start!
In this 21st century many children are left all too often to fend for themselves. This can cause much anxiety in a child. Many children are entertained by electronic games and the computer! These are wonderful tools in which they can learn! However balance is the key! Know your child! Spend quality time with them. Find ways to help them feel secure! This is what tells them they matter and are a priority! It is important to consistently and patiently discipline your child the results are rewarding and well worth it. “The rod of correction imparts wisdom but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.”
Trust God rather than fear man
It is becoming increasingly clear that this world is moving further away from godly principles. Whatever is popular is what is acceptable. Each generation seems to seek to determine the barometer for what is right and wrong and “do what is right in their own eyes !” Therefore being accepted becomes contingent on going along with the world’s majority! How can you know what God expects of you if you do not take time to get to know Him through His Word? It is important to pray and meditate on His Word!
There is a major difference between fearing man and fearing God! Man is finicky and inconsistent and changes from day to day. What is right today may not be right tomorrow! God’s principles have not changed. Don’t go along for the sake of being accepted when you know something is not right! What is important to keep in mind God knew then what would be now! It is hard for some to fathom that God is All knowing. He is Omniscient! We must seek Him above all else! “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.”
There is much wisdom in these Proverbs to help us live our lives in a way that pleases the Lord. In this time of trying o recover from a major global economic recession, hardships, racial discrimination uprisings, unemployment, declining property values that are slowly trying to rise, plethora of foreclosures, major oil spills, the constant threat of war, terrorists foreign and domestic and natural disasters many are experiencing extreme levels of stress! WOW! Keep in mind the horrific massive beheading of innocent children in Iraq by ISIS! Where does one turn?
Whenever there is a problem; God is the answer! The wonderful thing about the Lord; He is always a prayer away! There are times when we might have to take it day by day or even hour by hour! God for many is a last resort, an afterthought or simply not an option! God deserves so much more than lip service!
KNOW HE is there wherever you are whether you acknowledge Him or not! Allow Him some time in your life, grow closer to Him and TRUST HIM! Don’t allow prayer to just be a last resort. “REJOICE in the Lord always. Again I say REJOICE! Let your gentleness be known to All men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing but for everything through prayer and supplications, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the Peace of God that transcends ALL understanding WILL guard your hearts and minds…” Philippians 4.
Now is the perfect time to diligently seek Him and His Word for direction! Jesus is coming back! There is no recession in Heaven! His Holy Spirit is available to guide us through the snares, landmines and spiritual warfare to pull us off course. Is God really welcomed in your life? It is never too late to get back on track! There is a real spiritual battle going on. Again, Don’t let Him be your last resort! “With God All things are possible.” Matthew 19. Be encouraged! It is always time to pray! PRAISE GOD! He makes the impossible possible!
This PROVERBS concludes by telling us: “The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright.”
