Welcome to Spirit's blog. The place where we find the beauty in the hidden, occult, mythologies of our world. Blessed be.

Hi all and welcome to Spirit's blog. Today we are going to discuss, one of my favorite topics, Area 51 or what some conspiracy theorists believe to be, the place that the United States hides alien proof, artifacts, etc. So there are stories everywhere online lately about a "raid" on Area 51, that got me thinking, aside from conspiracies I don't exactly know what that place is, so I did some research to find out just exactly what it is or they claim it is. And why we should not mess with it. The truth will be exposed soon enough.

What is "Area 51"

Area 51 is a highly classified United States Air Force Base located in Lincoln County, Nevada. This base goes by a few names, Area 51, Homey Airport, and Groom Lake (named after the salt flat next to the airfield). This base contains an area roughly 6 miles by 10 miles, known as " The Groom Box", that is restricted air space, this is the original base acquired in 1955. This area has a series of paved, underground tunnels that lead to nearby towns, these tunnels are known as the Nevada Test Site road network. The Nevada Test Site is a US Dept. of Energy reservation that was once used to test nuclear devices, it is now known as the Nevada National Security Site.

Special Operations of 'Area 51

In April of 1955 the CIA began using this site for top secret testing, such as the Lockheed U-2, a military surveillance aircraft. In August of 1959 the site was assigned the OXCART project. Which as far as the public is concerned was testing of anti-radar studies, aerodynamic tests and engineering designs. This is also the time in history that the base received it's nickname of Area 51. At this point in time the base received some upgrades, a new landing strip, more hangars, and other new constructions but also the security clearance was increased significantly. The restricted air space was expanded from the original base size to include Groom Lake and the lake bed, making total restricted air space approximately 600 square miles.

Roswell, New Mexico

The accusations and conspiracies of this base began in 1947, with the Roswell incident. That is 13 years before the documented changes to this base, so you don't need to be a rocket scientist to know "something doesn't add up". If you are not aware of the Roswell incident, basically mid year 1947 a balloon crashed in Roswell, New Mexico. The discoverer of some of the wreckage was a man by the name of William Brazel, who told a to the media. The story he told was that he was walking with his son and happened upon what appeared to be a crash of some sort but the remaining objects were not known to be of an air craft. He also made mention that he had heard stories of UFO's being seen in the area. After the media coverage of his story the military issued a press release, stating that it was a flying disc, this was July 8th 1947. After that the military took possession of the disc, sending it to Fort Worth Army Air Field to be analyzed and from there sent to "higher headquarters". In the weeks following the crash there was another press release stating that it was a weather balloon, this was in fact a cover up, considering the actual purpose of the device was nuclear test monitoring.

"Project Blue Book"

The sightings of UFO's continued for some time in this area. Then in 1952 the US Air Force started "Project Blue Book". This was a study of all reported UFO sightings, to ease the mind of the public and analyze whatever data they could. This would seem like a responsible move by the military, but it turned into something a bit more. All those involved in this research of UFO's were sworn to strict secrecy, unless Judge ordered or the case was solved and information was released to the public. This plays into the conspiracy theory that extra terrestrial material was found.

"Independence Day" The Movie

Conspiracy theories continue to fly for the next 40 years, not getting much traction. Until the release of the movie "Independence Day", in 1996. In the plot of this movie, there is an extra terrestrial life transported to none other than Area 51 in Nevada. This caused former President Bill Clinton to instruct John Podesta (chief of staff) to request information about the contents of Area 51. This time the public is left in the dark, no press release or anything, the public isn't even sure if he received any response. All this does is add fuel to the fire, now just like in the movie, the President doesn't know what is in there.

Press Conference in Washington D.C.

Fast forward to 2010 when seven former Air Force personnel, mostly officers held a press conference in Washington D.C., telling of their experiences with UFO's and extra terrestrials. They state that there has been multiple UFO sightings at nuclear testing sites in the 60's,70's and 80's. They also claim that some caused a mechanical malfunction of some sort. Such as shutting down of missiles during testing. It is highly coincidental that they mention other military bases but, not Groom Lake, even though it is a base designed to test nuclear devices. So the conspiracy theorists conclude that if it happened elsewhere, it definitely happened there.

So now that we have come full circle, Area 51, is a heavily guarded, nuclear testing facility, but does it hold something more? We do not know, and we have no way of knowing until the situation hits a critical point. The upcoming "raid on Area 51", from my research is a very bad idea, whether it was meant as a joke or not. If it is aliens or military testing secrets, the professionals that we entrust our lives to have taken an oath to protect them, along with the American people. They know how to use deadly force and have clearly stated that they are authorized to use it. Is your life worth finding out things, that are going to be revealed to the public in the near future anyway? Blessed be.

Upgrades to Area 51

So a combination of upgrades and testing paired with heightened security is of course going to arouse suspicion of the public. But is that all has occurred to spark these conspiracy theories, that's what I was set to find out.
