Pay Attention to Your Life
Life is so fast-paced these days that so many people don't take time to pay attention to what is going on in their own lives. They seem to be doing everything except paying attention to what really matters.
"Watch your life and doctrine closely." (1Timothy 4:16)
What Should We Pay Attention To?
We should pay attention to what matters in our lives. So, what are the things that should matter to most people? The core things that should matter include the following:
Your THOUGHTS become your WORDS. Your WORDS become your ACTION.
In order to evaluate our lives, we should monitor the core areas and pay attention to them.
We can begin paying attention to the following things:
- the words the thoughts we thing
- the words we speak
- the deeds we do
Pay Attention to Your Thoughts
It is extremely important to pay attention to your thoughts. You are the sum total of what you think because what you think leads to what you speak, and what you speak leads to your action.
You don't just pop up and do something without thinking about it first. Therefore, you can agree that your words and deeds first start with your thoughts.
Pay Attention to the Words You Speak
Pay attention to the words you speak because they are important to those who hear them including yourself. Your words can either help, heal, or harm. Words have power and they can change your world.
What you say reveals what's in your heart. Don't let your speech be filled with nagging, complaining, murmuring, grumbling, gossiping and slandering.
According to Proverbs 18:21, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." Therefore, watch what you say at all times.
Pay Attention to Your Action
You have heard it said that it is not what happens to you, but it is your reaction to what happens. Pay attention to your action and evaluate if you are reacting the right way.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- Is the way I act pleasing to God?
- Is the way I act pleasing to others?
- Is the way I act pleasing to me?
If your action is not pleasing to all three of the above, then you need to find out the reason and make the necessary changes as soon as possible.
For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7
But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. Matthew 12:36
And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father by him. Colossians 3:17
