Peaceful Mind, Joyful Life And A Warm Heart

Updated on February 15, 2017

What is the Ego?

" Most people are so completely identified with the voice in the head- the incessant stream of involuntary and compulsive thinking and the emotions that accompany it- that we may describe them as being possessed by their mind. As Long as you are completely unaware of this, you take the thinker to be who you are. This is the egoic mind. " Eckhart Tolle A New Earth.

Your thoughts are a powerful tool. They are completely connected to your emotions and your physical well-being. Negative thoughts have enough energy to change your mood. These types of thoughts grow rapidly and cause other negative thoughts to occur. Over time, this habit of negative thinking becomes so strong it takes over you. It has control of your mind, your emotions and life if left to spin out of control.

There is no need to worry, everyone has these thoughts. It's part of being human. The key to understanding and avoiding potential negativity is to become aware of that uncomfortable thought. Sit with it, observe it, figure out where it came from. Most of these thoughts are patterns. One thought leads to another. Thoughts are like pathways, they are trails that lead to other trails of thought. Sometimes you just have to go left instead of right.

Neuroplasticity is the brains inherent capacity to change in response to learning, this process provides the physiological basis for the idea of training the mind for happiness and the ability to awaken inner happiness. So please...don't ever loose hope or give up on your happiness. It is there, you just have train your mind just like we have to exercise our bodies to stay physically healthy.

Just like anything else.. it takes time. So be patient, patient with your "self" , patient with your mind and patient with your thoughts.

Think about it... your thoughts are energy. Little tiny reactions that take place in your brain.

Your thoughts and emotions trigger a release of either serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine; your brains happy chemicals. They are nuerotransmitters known as monamines which are responsible for transmitting signals from nueuron to cell. These nuerotransmitters are responsible for your happiness.

So lets keep it positive people!

Get to know how your mind works. Do your best everyday to become aware of thoughts in your mind. Know that you are not your thoughts. We all have circling thoughts... those voices that tell us the same thing over and over again. It's like your mind is on repeat, and it keeps playing all day without changing the song. Eventually you have to change the station.

Happiness Rituals

By getting to know yourself and what makes you happy, may lead to a more fulfilling existence. What are your passions? What sparks excitement in you? What do you find yourself daydreaming about?

It's ok to not know. That is why you are here. It is never too late or too early to start. There is only one way to find your happiness and it is in this moment you will find it.

Your happiness exists in the here and now. It is inside you and all around you.
Start awakening your inner happiness right here, right where you are.

Make an effort to do the things you think you don't have time for which are usually things for your "Self".

Little Rituals that change my mood and hopefully can change yours too:

A hug- hug your family, husband, wife, friend, dogs, cats, birds (maybe not things that bite, but you get the idea!)

Go for a walk- sometimes some fresh air gives a fresh perspective.

Exercise- This will clear your mind, promote confidence and release those happy chemicals!

Cook a nice healthy meal- Sometimes hunger can change your mood. (What do they call that... hangry?)

Do something creative- Draw, paint, color, make something, it doesn't matter if your not an artist, just try. Sometimes it can be super relaxing and helps you gain focus.

Music- Sometimes listening to your favorite song can lift your spirits.

Call someone- A family member, significant other or a friend. Sometimes you just need someone to be there.

Nature- Nature is peaceful and quiet, sometimes we just need to be alone to calm our minds. Sometimes the world can be too noisy, busy and over-stimulating. Escape for a little while.

Read a book- Books can take you to worlds you never knew existed.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope this provides some happiness!

Good luck on your quest to finding what makes you happy.

Please take some time to watch the video below by Eckhart Tolle
