A Tale of Two Fish

Pisces comes from Latin, meaning, "The Fishes." It is one of the earliest zodiac signs on record, with the two fish appearing as far back as c. 2300 BCE on an Egyptian coffin lid.

The Koi fish is sometimes used to represent Pisces in mythology and the Koi fish is also the fish in which Aphrodite was said to have transformed into with her son, Eros, in order to escape the monster called, "Typhoon."

Many of the Christian symbols for Christ use the fish symbol of Pisces because the age of Pisces coincides with the birth of Christ. Many scholars believe that Jesus himself holds many of the same traits associated with Pisces.

A Peek into The Pisces Personality

People who fall under the sign of Pisces are generally more emotional than other signs. This is not to say that a Pisces will break down into tears over the smallest thing, but it does mean that a Pisces personality will definitely be more in tune with their own feelings and the feelings of others more so than other signs.

Being a sign that is represented by the element of water, Pisces is a fluid personality full of creativity and inspiration based on how the world around them turns. While a Pisces is readily able to "go with the flow," they can also be significantly affected by sudden changes around them.

The environment of a Pisces is everything. They absorb and react according to where they are, who they are with, and what is being said. Empathy is one of the most admirable traits of a Pisces.

Empathy is one of the most admirable traits of a Pisces as they can instantly feel what is going on with a friend, family member, or lover and try to relate or help.

Most people under the sign of Pisces are fairly even-tempered but if the spark of anger is activated a Pisces will flare up quickly. Once angered, a Pisces won't have a very long-lasting temper tantrum. They don't tend to hold grudges and are likely to forgive swiftly.

A Pisces can be gifted in music, teaching, acting, and singing - among other things. A Pisces will always rely on their community to inspire them either artistically and takes on ideas like a sponge.

The compassionate and selfless Pisces will always be willing to help and are only happy when those around them are. A person who falls under the sign of Pisces is generally a loyal friend and warm romantic partner.

On the negative side, a Pisces can have a tendency to get stuck in their ways if they're not motivated properly. They are also prone to escapism when things don't go their way. A Pisces can also be taken advantage of while trying to think of others too often before themselves.

The acute sensitivity of a Pisces personality can lead to problems if they don't learn to control their emotions early on. That ability to feel so intensely can be both a blessing and a curse for the intuitive Pisces.

For the most part, a Pisces will be tolerant of others, wise, and calm. A Pisces will give in to passion quickly. Learning to channel emotions in a productive manner is the burden of the talented, charming, and sweet-natured Pisces.

Planet, Stones, & Colors

The ruling planet for Pisces is Neptune. Neptune is known as an "ice giant" as it's core is mostly made up of ice and rock.

Neptune is the only known planet to be discovered by mathematical prediction rather than observation. Neptune's weather consists if intense storms with winds that can reach up to 1300 mph.

The chaotic storms on Neptune near the speed of supersonic flow (the rate of travel of an object that exceeds the speed of sound.) Thus, Neptune's dynamic climate compliments the emotionally dramatic Pisces.

The stones most associated with Pisces are Amethyst and Moonstone. Both of these stones carry a reflective, changeable mood which enhances the ever-changing emotions of a Pisces.

Tiger's eye, Hematite, and Jasper are also strong stones for Pisces.

The colors which are most favorable for a Pisces are aqua-blue and sea-green, which comes as no surprise for this water-loving sign.

The Tarot Card of Pisces

The Tarot card that represents Pisces is the moon card. The moon card is characterized as dreamy and idealistic while also highlighting the power of emotion and illusion.

The moon card depicts both a wolf and domesticated dog howling at the moon. These animals symbolize both the tame and wild coming together. The crayfish crawling out of the water is interpreted as the beginning of consciousness.

The moon is also the sun in the Tarot picture, which could symbolize both the light of positivity and the mystery of the darkness.

Depicted in the Tarot card is a path that leads to uncertainty but Pisces the dreamer will continue on, possessing powers of intuition and vision.
