Unexpected Surprises

Life has a way of lulling us into peaceful acceptance, being content to wait for the things we are sure will come. As time passes, our confidence grows and we begin to eagerly anticipate events on the horizon yet remain patient, for this has become the norm.

It is usually at this point that Life gives us an unexpected surprise …

As we reel from this new complication thrown at us by Life in our otherwise smoothly sailing existence, often the question arises, “Why?” This is when the reality of the situation hits and a true analysis of what has happened is followed by the dissection of any and all things that led up to this cataclysmic occurrence.

Yet often there is no logical reason; no predictable clue that we missed … it just happened.

At this point, it is often necessary to just accept what is – and many turn to God. Some become angry with Him, curse Him and run from Him. Others simply embrace Him for comfort while trying to heal in His arms. Either way, the fact remains that we turn to Him seeking His infinite wisdom and knowledge.

At these times, answers never seem to come immediately – perhaps it is the shock – and we need to again find patience and acceptance while we allow our head to clear. Over time, we begin to realize that this event did not destroy us; rather, it made us stronger. Looking back in hindsight this often amazes us and we begin to see the beauty laid before us on this new, unexpected path in life. Perhaps this is the true miracle of God’s love …

Great picture at the top. ha-ha. Very nice hub and so very true! Everything seems like such a huge deal when you first experience it but later on down the road you realize it wasn't that big of a thing.
