Post Resurrection Maybe?

Updated on May 9, 2010

Just the other day I was asked “Why is it important to understand prophesy as written in the bible.”

I would first have to say “Because it was given to us for a reason.” What that reason was I did not know until I studied prophecies for quite some time. I may not yet have all of the answers, but I have a couple of Ideas as to why we must understand prophesy as written in scripture.

If I can be allowed a few moments, we will examine one reason that the necessity for complete understand of these written prophesy will become evident. I believe that this scenario is in fact the true reality of life today.

Let us Imagine that the Second coming of Christ and the Rapture of the Church as taught in Church were to take place tomorrow.

Millions of believers are caught up in the air and meet their Lord and Savior in the air.

They are gone. Millions of people can not be found any place on the face of the earth.

What do we suppose those that are left behind are going to say and do? Many will understand what has taken place. Their faith will come into fulfillment a day too late. They will study the scripture and know that there will be given another chance to repent of their sins and to be resurrected and be received up into heaven. From the time of the first resurrection forward, when a person dies in the Lord they will rest from their labors and their works do follow them

Now; here is the question.

Imagine that after six or eight hundred or a thousand years they are reading their bibles, and they see the promise of the son of God coming back again for the rapture of the church! Praise God, redemption is near, they say.

All evidence of the Rapture and first resurrection will have vanished by this time. They believe that they are living in a time that is pre First resurrection. They are wrong …But… they are still OK. They will be closer to redemption at this time than any one ever before . Now they do not have to wait for the resurrection, for when they die in the Lord they get to rest from their labors and their works do follow them…. . They get to go straight to heaven. Hallelujah!

But they are still wrong in their beliefs concerning the second coming of Christ.

So that being said, why would they need to understand prophesy? What difference does it make if they live life believing the second coming of Christ and the rapture of the church is yet to come? They will be going to heaven either way when they die in the Lord.

I can think of a couple of reasons they should know the truth. They would recognize the true identity of the beast and false prophet so that they do not take the name or the Mark of the beast.

Another reason to be fully aware of prophesy would be so that they will not be watching for those signs that are said to come before the second coming of Christ. If it had already come and gone like a thief in the night, they will be watching for signs that will never come (again). But the final end as foretold in prophesy is still coming closer and closer with every passing day.

There will be people attempting to predict when the second coming and the end of the world will come, but their predictions never come to pass. And all of these predictions of the end of the world that are always proven incorrect will be understood by the rest of the world as being utter foolishness. This will appear to the unbelieving world as further proof of the non existence of God.

This will be, because they think that they live in the pre resurrection era when they are not.     Until they understand the timeframe of prophesy that is written in the book people will never know if they are living in the pre or post resurrection erra.

These people whether they are living in the post ot pre resurrection era, will not be aware of this their place in the prophetic ti,eframe unless those prophesy are understood as they were intended.

There will be great confusion when attempting to interpret prophesy in such a way as to be saying  what the people desires them to mean. This confusion will also keep many others from entering into  faith in Christ.

In conclusion; I must repeat that understanding prophesy correctly is of utmost importance.

We need to know where we are, concerning our relationship to prophesy.

Are we living in the times of the pre resurrection or post resurrection. No one will ever KNOW for sure, unless we understand prophesy. And then May be, Just May be we will be prepared for what ever is to come

Jer, sorry for being late to class, have been busy with the food contest. As we seen to agree in many aspects regarding the 1st Resurrection events. Is it possible the the 144k from "every tribe of Israel" were partakers of the first resurrection itself.

In addition, you touched an important key regarding an earthly throne. Do you know many believers have ben convinced of this and are using it to convince Hebrews -who await the return of David or Elijah to set up an actual kingdom in Israel. Thank you for this hub, am off to read the newly published one. -James.

Ellyja Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts and leaving your gracious comment. This will be a bit long but you asked what I thought about ... I love it when people do that. HA

      But first

I always suggest that every one read and study only the words written red, (those things that Jesus is said to have spoken) Read those from first to last, over and over until we get a feel of what he said and to whom, Let those things that Jesus said be the firm foundation for our belief system to be built upon.

I just read through Corinthians 15. I am guessing that you were referring to verse 51 "...We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed."

Those not sleeping has to refer to the 144,000 first fruits that are redeemed from among man. Daniel 12:1;Rev 7 and Rev 14:3. Matt. 24:40

Were you also thinking about the sounding of the last trumpet (V52). This absolutely can not be talking about the last trumpet Judgment.

I say this for many reasons but will only get into one. At "This" last trump the first fruits will be redeemed from among men. When reading Rev. 7:9 after the sixth seal is opened we see the great multitude that came out of the great tribulation. The first fruits being first, would have to have already been redeemed before this, or at this time. And then the seventh seal is opened.... silence ...and then The seven trumpets judgments are handed out.

There is an established time sequence specified in scripture when we look for them

Jerami,I am impressed with your insights,I haven't been studying the Holy Bible as long as most it seems. I've probably read parts of it over and over at least 8 times since November 2009. I wanted answers for myself, went to the source, the Bible, and simply dove in. I dove in with a desire to learn, understanding I must believe to truly learn, and discovered wisdom beyond any that a church could have taught. What are your feelings on 1 Corinthians 15.

There is a great mystery at hand that is hinted time and time again throughout the Bible, regardless of the book or characters involved. He is a puzzling God? I believe we are made in His image, so all our traits can be attributed to Him, and I like puzzles. I've read a lot of man's books on the subject and I find none make as much sense as the Bible. Man is confused. Is confusion our tribulation? Oh well, I agree with your assessment of being at the last trumpet, we all know that peace was lifted from the earth a long time ago and that happened when the 2nd seal was removed. Why are people waiting for that to happen?

May the answers to everyone's questions reveal themselves as prophesied.

Please keep up the good work, it is much appreciated and motivating.

      Michael thanks for stoping by..

I think that to properly understand all of scripture is dependant upon understanding the book of Daniel. Period.

And we have to understand it with NO further Interpretation because Gabriel has already interpretated these messages from God.

This is difficult to do because our little minds have been programed to believe many False interpretations from our youth.

Disappearinghead Thanks for stopping and commenting.

Hope all is well on your home front.

This is the beautiful part about living in the post resurrection era, If we are. When we die in the Lord, we rest from our labors and our works DO Follow us. NOW

I wrote a full response to you but it turned into my next hub I think.

It is my belief that if we say that we believe what is written in our bible, we should first and foremost believe the prophesy as told by Gabriel without changing the meaning.

This should be the foundation of our beliefs that all other scripture has to rest upon. Not the other way around.

All of our preconceived ideas always influence what we think that we are reading.

Imagine Rev.8:1 as being fulfillment of Daniel 12:7

      Hi Jerami,

      Another thought provoking hub.

Where do I sit? I'm not entirely sure.

There is something dodgy in the teachings of church concerning the rapture, like it's some get out of tribulation free card. Jesus said we will suffer tribulsation in this world, and Paul said that through tribulation we enter the Kingdom of God.

All the prophecy that Jesus gave the disciples concerning the times of the end were completely fullfilled by the time of the end of the nation of Israel in the 2nd century. Yet mysteriously we have no historical evidence of the coming of the son of Man that He said would follow.

I do not believe in a singlular anti-christ because John is the only person who uses this term, and he applied it to anyone who rejects Jesus as the Christ.

End time tribulation is a popular idea, and the American right wing church loves to look to signs in Europe and tell us that we Europeans will be part of the Satanic state on Earth ruled by the anti-christ. They back these spurious claims with statements about a single European currency for example, or a revived Roman Empire which in itself is unscriptural.

As for resurection, scripture is clear that we cannot be with Christ without a resurection first. The idea that man has an immortal spirit that ascends to Jesus or descends to a temporary hell is a pagan concept adopted by the church. Scripture is clear that man intended to live forever has no need of a spirit, that Hades/Sheol is the sleeping place of the unconcious oblivious dead. Has resurection happened? We are told in the gospels that some were resurected with Jesus. Were they immortal and ascended with Jesus, or mortal and died again a few years later? Scripture does not say.

All I know is one day I will die and be buried. I will be resurected at some future time, and from my perspective, it will be as a twinkling of an eye between death and resurection, though many centuries may have actually past.

mjane24 Thanks for taking the time to read and consider the posability. If there is a pre Resurrection erra; there would have to be a post Resurrection erra.

And those in the post erra will probably not be aware of that fact. Where are WE ??

Lady Rose.. And thank you for taking the time to stop and leave your comment.

I won't go into great detail with my differing opinions.

I attempt to keep my opinion few while analyzing those things that are written.

Concerning those things written; I would like to express what I read when reading Rev. 20.

Satan is bound in the bottomless pit where he will stay for a 1000 years. At this time the saints that are dead, that did not receive the mark of the beast or its name are seen "IN HEAVEN" where they live and reign "with Christ" for the 1000 years that Satan is bound in the pit.

This does NOT say that Jesus comes to the earth and reigns with his saints.

Jesus does not have a 1000 year reign. He reigns for ever.

I can not tell you just how many misinterpretations such as this that the church has been teaching incorrectly.

After almost 2000 years of the church teaching misconceptions such as this one these falsehoods are embedded into our subconscious minds causing us to not see that which is clearly written.

All of my HUBS are describing many miss-teachings such as this.. I guess I should say that this answer is just my opinion, but I think that it is much more than just an opinion..

And again; thanks for stopping by and I much appreciate your comments and/or questions.

I commend you for your hunger for the truth and for your studying of the scriptures. You sound like a real archeologist of the Word.

I am a missionary and have studied the scriptures and prophecies for 32 years now. I have learned that the interpretation of prophecy is not private, but that has to be discerned by the Holy Spirit. In other words, it is coded and only if you read it in the Spirit, makes sense and comes alive to you. God may chose to give different pieces of the puzzle to different honest seekers and that is His privilege. But if read and interpreted in the Spirit of God, all the pieces of the puzzle match perfectly together.

This is what He has shown me, in a nutshell. Of course it has much more depth and detailed information, but i cant put it all in a comment, as you well know.

For what i can understand, your article seems based on the concept taught in some churches of the sudden rapture of the true church. If so, then i understand that you would expect the poor people left behind to also get saved eventually.

The concept of a silent rapture differs strongly from the scriptures that say that when Jesus comes all eye shall see him as He comes in the sky with great power and glory to gather his children from the Earth. It talks about a lot of noise and fireworks in the sky, definitely not like a silent sneaky rapture. The speech figure of Him coming as a robber in the night means that He will come unexpectedly and fast and take us by surprise. And what a lovely surprise that will be, after the horrors we will see in the tribulation.

Unfortunately, according to the scriptures, the true church will go thru purifying and trying during the tribulation and won´t be raptured until the end of it when JEsus comes to take us to our Wedding Party. We will be helped ¨with little help¨ and we will be taken to the desert to be sustented for 1260 days of the trib. And we will instruct many and do exploits. We will see the beast and fight against it, just like the 2 witnesses will.

Our job is to tell everyone not to take the mark, but to take God´s seal on their foreheads, by receiving Christ in their hearts and becoming His children.

The Gospel has to be preached to all nations and to every creature in order for Jesus to come back. In other words, the church has to finish the job, pull up her sleeves and get to work witnessing. They wont go up in the air from the comfort of their pews. When the rapture comes, only the people who did not accept Christ will be left behind. Those who took the mark, the vast majority, will suffer thru the wrath of God till we come back with Jesus to fight the AC and his followers and to destroy his kingdom. Then Jesus will establish his kingdom on Earth for a millenium. And we will be rulers with Him, over all nations left. During those 1000 years the devil wont be present (he will be locked in with his friends in the bottomless pit) and subsequently, unable to tempt and lead people astray. The survivors of Armageddon, probably those who did not take the mark for one reason or another, or some marked but repentant people, will live peacefully on Earth in beautiful conditions similar to Eden under our supervision and training.

Now, the raptured ones, we will have resurrected bodies just like Jesus had when He resurrected. Able to eat and have all normal body functions, but also able to fly, go thru walls and have supernatural powers. The millenial born people will -of course- have tons of chances to get saved having Jesus rule over them in person. They will believe because they will see, while we believed without seeing and in the midst of great confusion thru the media and the system.

During the millenium we will use all the clean natural energies and wont pollute the earth anymore, there will not be wars either, but the swords will be turned into plows, meaning farming will be the thing to do. If some of the present politicians and world leaders arent in Hell by then, we will see to it that they spend the best time of their days cleaning the mess that Armageddon left and working the lands once it is all clean. Can´t wait. Ha!

Now, at the end of the millenium, God decides to let Satan out to see what His millenial kids will do when given a taste of evil, like Adam and Eve experienced. Sad to say, the Bible tells us that some will rebel against Jesus and his saints and follow the devil. There will be wars again, the famous battle of Gog and Magog but when they are surrounding the camp of the saints --the millenial believers--, God is thru with experience and will burn the whole surface of the Earth to such extend that it will all melt like cheese on a pizza as the mountains dissolve. The heavens will pass with a great noise. Seems like all the nuclear weapons that men accumulated will be used and destroyed.

Then God will create a New Heaven and a New Earth, without sea, to have more space for the billions of his children who will leave peacefully for ever. And New Jerusalen, the Heavenly City of God will descend and land on Earth and God will dwell amongst His children.

Rev. Lady I can't tell you how much I appreciate your comment.

I have been considering the posability of this concept for over ten years. Every time I open my bible I find more evidence of the truth of this radical concept. Not just in prophesy but through out all scripture.

I did self publish a little book about three years ago.I used no outside sourses. Analitical examination of what the scriptures actualy say is my only sourse.

I am not a writer, never wanted to be one,But felt compelled to do this.

I have used about half of the information from the book for my HUBs.

I can not express how strongly I believe this to be true.

Again; Thanks for your comment. It Means a lot.

good day aquasilver; thanks for commenting.

To the best of my knowledge the concept of a "Rapture" was first introduced in Daniel 11:45 and 12:1.

According to these scripture, when a king belonging to the FOURTH kingdom

(one that replaces three kings after the first ten)having dominion over the Hebrew nation comes to his end the(11:45) At that time (12:1) shall Michael stand up for the children of thy people and ....

That king was Hadrian (he died in 138 AD) The Hebrew nation was in the process of being deported and scattered through out the rest of the Roman Empire. Millions of people were being killed and/or deported.

What better time to Rapture 144000 Hebrews.

The rapture of the modern day "CHURCH" is a mis interpretation that has been perpetuated over the centuries.

Looking at prophesy from a Post Resurection perspective requires absolutely no interpretation of scripture for them to fall together naturally.

      At least in my opinion.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting... I've been analizing these prophesy for about ten years and looking at them from a post Resurrection point of view and this is the only way that I can see that they make any sense at all. To me; they seem to fit quite nicely in sequencial order.

Don't you think someone would have recorded the 'first coming' Rapture if it had already happened? - I know the New Agers and Atheists will rejoice when Christ takes believers out of this mire, but they will only do that for a while, for then they will see the rest of prophesy fulfilled, to their detriment.
