Power of the Harlot over the Captive Knight

Updated on September 11, 2015

Power of the Harlot over the Captive Knight

It was a spring time in the island of Jamaica just before sunset and as I looked out across the balcony there was a feeling of freedom coupled with the soft cool ocean breeze gently tapering across my face that made me wish this vacation would never end.

Jamaica is beautiful in spring with moderately warm sunshine enough to give your skin such a lovely tan. Along with the feeling of ecstasy from the daily experiences you encounter as a vacationer that is enough to make those who are yet in search for the fountain of youth relinquish their dreams and require no more that what the sun so graciously allows.

The Pansietta trees were all in bloom, loveliest of God’s creation that you have ever seen. Blossoms with red petals contrasted with green leaves and slightly yellow stigmas to be met at the base of the tree with that all so precious sought after, white sand beach.

I allowed my eyes to travel along the beech, over the tops of the houses and then drifted into what appeared to be an eternal sky. Words leave me helpless in attempting to describe this holy spectacle.

These very thoughts may have been similar to those of King David in 2Samuels 11 (KJV) as he walk out on his balcony in the cool of the night. How beautiful, he must have thought Jerusalem was at that time of the year. The King continued to expand his vision to the nearby roofs and suddenly he caught sight of a woman of unusual beauty taking a bath. The King pursued the exotic; he sent for that which was not his to possess and so what began as a holy unfolding of the Creator, ended in error and ultimately the death of two souls; Uriah and the child conceived by David through adultery.

He took the wife of Uriah, the Hittite and dealt with her as a common harlot, after which he sent her home after he had expressed himself.

Resisting under temptation

This biblical story of David and Bathsheba has been told for almost 3 thousand years now but it has served little to dissuade God’s creation from the power of the spirit of harlotry.

As the story goes in the book of 2 Samuel 11, it was a “the time when Kings go forth to battle”. In other words, it was a time when you should be motivated to move out against your enemies.

There is,

a. a time when God’s presence is in the land to war on behalf of those who have been held captive

b. a time when God wants ideas to be conceived in man and birth into the earth realm

c. a time of refreshing from the Spirit of the Lord,

But as we have seen with Achan, one person can delay the move of God for a family, ministry and a nation.

David was conceiving illegal birth instead of new territories and new ideas.

God is saying that I am the one who supplies seasons and times for there is a time to fight and there is time to rest.

God is saying,

· if you are not marching in step

· if you are not aligned with My Spirit then you will not follow my direction and you will be in the spiritual wrong location.

God is saying that blessing is supernaturally tied to a location.

David could not receive the blessings of the Lord for the nation because he was in the wrong "location" and instead of receiving a blessing he was cursing Israel.

In Psalms 51:5 David says, “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.”

Often our transgression result from the fact that the enemy had a strongman in the life of our predecessors. In David's case it a spirit of whoredom for in sin was his great-great grandparents conceived.

David was descended from Judah and his daughter-in law Tamar, (Matt.1:3) but the blood of Jesus breaks all curses.

The blood breaks the power of the spirit of whoredom over the "captive knight".

Army of Knights

I want you to imagine an army of knights dressed in armor but held captive because they have been intoxicated by the enemy. They are unable to fight, not even to defend themselves because they are wasted.

The enemy has no need to kill them because of the intoxication so he uses them as a spectacle and that where some of us are at right at this moment.

Sometimes the pain you sense is not really a malady but the enemy stepping on you, slapping you, using you as a circus contribution. Then foolish you give the pain a name; you call it, arthritis, the enemy agrees.

The word says, in the mouth of two or three witness every word is established. So there you have it, you just gave your self a malady.

When will the people of God become like Samson and awake from their blindness?

Now we are either blessed or cursed. The word of God says that I place before you a blessing and a curse, and God helps you, He says, “Choose life”.

When people are not motivated to live for God, then for whom are they motivated to live?

You can either be motivated to live for the Lord and go by the name, “the redeemed of the Lord” and be a blessing, or to live a cursed life without the Lord.

It’s definitely no middle ground! Sin brings the curse of death; obedience to God is eternal life.

In the book of Proverbs 3:33 the word says, “The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just”.

Therefore God is not in the house of the wicked for the wicked has become a god unto himself; his worship is to the kingdom of self.

But in the house of the just man, the man who has been redeemed and who does not allow the spirit of a harlot to come onto his members therefore the Lord has perfected righteousness in his house.

Mind of Christ

Now the word says, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus”.

It is saying that if you have the mind of Christ then you will be able to be discerning, you will be able to try the spirits. You will be able to tell whether it is a distraction or the Lord calling you into action.

It is needful for every child of God to know that place wherein God has placed you and that you are not deceived when it comes to God’s location and timing.

The enemy will send “deceptacons” to try to pull us out of our places but with a daily relationship and the gift of discerning of spirits we will always be victorious.

Nevertheless we are to try every thing by the true revealed word of God.

1John 4:1 says, “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world”.

The word tell us that many false prophets are gone out into the world and shall deceive many but thanks be unto God that the mercies of God endures for ever and so what the enemy meant for evil God will turn it around for our good.

As we submit our selves unto God and resist the enemy we shall see our victory.

1. submission is an act of obedience

2. obedience gives us authority

3. authority holds the anointing which breaks the yolk of bondage and makes the captive free

Glory to God!

Once again, the knight dressed in his armor can be braced by the word of God; he can stand strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. In Ephesians 6:11,

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil

You aught to ask yourself, “Did I acknowledge my armor today?

Every portion of the armor speaks of Christ;

  • It speaks of unlocking you destiny
  • It speaks of establishing your way
  • It speaks of fortifying your defenses
  • It speaks of your victory in warfare
  • It speaks to your generational blessing

Mistaken Identity

Prostitution as been referred to as “the world’s oldest profession” in which sex is traded for money and the proprietors are the said to be cunning and committed to their trade. To prostitute’ is derived from a composition of two Latin words: (preposition) pro and (verb) statuere, literally; ‘to expose’, ‘to place up front’.

Today prostitutes are sometimes called an “escort” or a “whore” and they parade themselves as a street walker or hooker. In recent years they have tried to take away the stigma of the name and are now called sex trade workers which give a wide variety of workers including, pole / lap dancing, kerb crawlers to high priced call-girls and this is new, performing artist.

Harlot taken from the Hebrew word “kadeshah” was the Old Testament word used and the principles were usually consecrated to the pagan god, Athaliah whom Jezebel and Ahab worshipped along with other kings of Israel.

As it was then, so is it now, that men of God are allowing themselves to become pawns, trapped by the enemy and some of them have been called on the carpet for indulging themselves with sex trade workers.

Therefore we call attention to Judah, whose name means “praise”, son of Jacob who was caught in a serious act of harlotry.

As I have said the name Judah means praise. This was the 4th son of Jacob by Leah which men and women of the gospel have revered for his name sake not realizing that he was given to rebellion, but for the blood.

The story is found in Genesis 38 of how Judah went in onto Shuah and had children; Er, Onan, and Shelah.

The bible goes on to say that Judah found a wife for his eldest son, her name was Tamar.

Now two sons died and Tamar was left without children to whom Judah made her a promise that he would give her the third son, Shelah but he hesitated in his heart fearing that his third son would also die.

Therefore Judah never intended to give his youngest son to Tamar and so Tamar realizing that she had been conned or tricked, devised a plan to acquire a child through "Praise" interpreted Judah, for she was desperate for a child which she intended to acquire by any means possible.

Never try to trick a woman in need of a "child". Tamar is evidence of the plans of a desperate woman.

She did not want another lineage, it had to be the lineage of praise.

I wish the church would see this!

The church, "Tamar", the woman, the bride, or the body of Christ has been given the means of connecting and having a need fulfilled, it's called praise.

I am not saying that Tamar's action of incest was right but the willingness to pursue her promise and overtake, giving her the victory of a child; this was remarkable. In other words, the perceived need was evidenced by willing action.

It was now at the time when Judah’s Canaanite wife had passed and Judah in need of support went out of town with his friend Hirah the Adullamite. They went to Timnath.

Tamar was told and knowing the state of her father-in-law and his temperance, she also went to Timnath.

She rented a room and set herself up as a harlot to trap her father-in law and Judah having a spirit of whoredom, went in to her.

Genesis 38:15-18 says,

“When Judah saw her, he thought her to be an harlot; because she had covered her face.
16 And he turned unto her by the way, and said, Go to, I pray thee, let me come in unto thee; (for he knew not that she was his daughter in law.) And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?
17 And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give me a pledge, till thou send it?
18 And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy bracelets, and thy staff that is in thine hand. And he gave it her, and came in unto her, and she conceived by him.”

Out of this union came twin boys; Phares and Zara.

Out of the line of Phares came David and out of the line of David came Joseph the husband of Mary who begot the Christ.

But Christ came to destroy the strongman of the lust of the flesh that had His line held captive.

Today, you too can be delivered, not only from the lust of the flesh but from the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
