Practical Atheists

Updated on May 25, 2011

Practical Atheists

The fool says I his heart, “there is no God. “

They are corrupt, their deeds are vile, there is no one who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men

To see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt,

There is no one who does good, not even one.

Psalm 14 :1 -3

Who are the atheists in the world ?

Are they the only ones who outrightly deny the existence of God and deny the Creation Theory or the Theory of Intelligent Design ? Are they the follower’s of Darwin’s Evolution Theory who deny that man is created by God. These people are actually atheists but a person who intellectually believes in the existence of God could also be an atheist.

In what way ?

A person may actually believe in God but if he/she is living careless and immoral lives, his/her profession of a knowledge of God is a vanity. There are so many people who profess they believe in God , they even profess that they are Christians yet if you will examine deeply their lives and the intentions of their hearts, you will realize that their ways and lifestyle do not acknowledge the reality of God.

In what ways people do this ?

They live immoral lives disregarding the moral instructions of the Bible. They live in fornication or sex outside of marriage, sexual immorality, adultery. They are people living in cohabitation or living together as husband and wife even though they are not married. Though they profess faith in God, their lives deny God’s existence because they do not fear Him.They do not fear that God reserve His judgement to the immorals.

There is no fear of God in their hearts. Though they may attend church regularly nor may even be in the ministry, yet they live as if there is no God because they live carelessly not considering the ways and moral precepts of God.

People are to be considered as practical atheists if they flourish in corruption, stealing government funds, exploiting the weak and poor , using their education to legalize their crimes. Their ways are corrupt and they are ever fearless. They have gained great education only to oppress and take advantage of the poor. They are ever corrupt because they live in lies. They are casual liars and careless in bringing false testimonies against their neighbor. They lie about everything, about their age, about their job, their education, their marital status, about their family. They never care enough that God hates lying tonques.

They are atheists because they are murderers. They carelessly killed unborn babies and consider it as a professional’s job. They never take thought that it is an abomination in the eyes of God. They are atheists because they are ever covetous and idolaters always desiring the best things the world could offer. They are always working very very hard to fulfill their selfish ambitions making it their most cherished idols.

You are a practical atheist if you have no consideration about the moral precepts of God, though you may profess a religion or faith. If you died without repenting surely you will receive the judgement of God.

Who are the true believers of God ?

The true believers of God have great consideration for the moral precepts of the Bible. He/She always stay away from the sins of sexual immorality, fornication, adultery, bearing false testimonies or lying, killing or murder, stealing or robbery, any form of idolatry or covetousness.

A true believer of God fears God greatly and reveres Him highly. A profession of religion is not an evidence of faith in God. Profession of religion must be coupled with a life consistent with what the Bible teaches, a life of righteousness and holiness..

Cristina, Wonderful hub with great spiritual insight! This is “speaking the TRUTH in LOVE!” Ephesians 5. This promotes and encourages spiritual growth! Love is not telling someone what they want to hear! It is loving them enough to speak the TRUTH of GOD’S WORD! This is healthy spiritual food for the soul!

There is always room for improvement as long as we are on this side of Heaven! We must not talk right and walk left! Thank you for sharing, In His Love, Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings!

Hi Claudin it is great to read your comment for this hub. I am happy to hear from you. Thank you for dropping by and appreciating this hub. Yes I completely agree with you that counterfeit christians are considered as practical atheists. A true christian submits completely to the moral precepts of the Bible and live by its principle. Remain blessed always.

By reading this one it reminds me a statement from a friend: "they profess they were Christians but their very actions says they're not!"

are practical atheists could also be called counterfeit Christians? =)

God bless you for this.. . more powers!

A wise friend said to me a few years ago, 'not everyone who says God/God is Godly'. Your article brought that home so very clearly and irrevocably. My heart ached a bit just reading it. Thank you very much for writing and sharing...

I feel it is hard to write about nonbelievers except that the Word of God verifies everything. I am so glad you allow God's Holy Spirit to flow you when you write. And when a believer listens to the voice of God and studies God's Word, then his belief is confirmed. It is always refreshing to read your hubs.

Good article Christina. Our faith is exhibeted in our lifestyles and actions.

You did a good job specifying immoral type hypocrisy.

I have often thought of the command not to take His name in vain as meaning don't live lives that give God a bad name.

This conviction is good. The Lord had to bring me through that conviction at point in my walk where He made make a decision about certain things in my life. I did feel that He was seeing "its either me or that" not both.

He is worthy to be obeyed!!

Hi Gicky Soriano it is great to hear from you again. Thank you for dropping by and appreciating this hub. Your visit and comments are much appreciated. Thank you also for posting an additional insight. Truly no one is exempted, we all could be guilty of falling short in the standard of God. We should daily examine our hearts and lives to see if we are living out the truth of God's Word. Blessings to you and your family. Best regards.

Psalm 14 opens a can of worms in all of us - no exceptions - "there is no one who does good, not even one." All humankind under the heavenly gaze of God falls short of His glory. Thank God that our righteousness is found in Christ and not in ourselves.

Great searching questions posted in this hub. We would be all the wiser to seek God by asking the question, "Is there anything in my life that causes me to foolishly fall short of living out the truth, 'There is a God?'" Well done Cristina.
